Our daughter wanted a flour tortilla (aka plate) and as the waitress was coming back down the stairs she dropped it on the floor, picked it up and blow it off and gave it to my daughter. Needless to say, my appetite was lost. Not sure the policy here in Germany, but usually in American we don't serve food that was dropped on the ground, especially to a paying customer. This restaurant probably would not pass health codes in the US. I was afraid to eat anything else after that! In my opinion this place does not even deserve one star, but that's the lowest I could give.

For my main course, I had the Gebratene Flugentenkeule mit Apfelrotkohl und Thüringer Klößen (roast leg of duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings, pictured). The prices seemed reasonable for the amount of food I had. I've read other reviews about this restaurant which hinted that this was a touristy, crowded restaurant, but I didn't feel that way here. The beer here is really excellent. Their Hausbier (pils) was very drinkable, probably the best drink I had in Erfurt. Followed this up with a potatoe beer (not quite sure how the potatoe is brought into the brewing process) which was also a nice drink. Decided to eat something and the dumpling was certainly a tasty way to soak up some beer.
