Our hotel during Oktoberfest was right down the street so we ended up eating here twice as soon as we realized it existed. Sure we had plenty of classic German/Bavarian fare, but boy was getting a delicious spicy gyro just what my soul needed after days of beer, brats, and pretzels! The sandwich was an absolutely 10/10. After having both the steak and the chicken, I'd personally go with the steak! Open up a place in Minnesota for me?

In the end it seemed the walk was worth it. Although small, Tarboosh is fantastically clean and the shawerma was cooked to order (not rotating on some spit for goodness knows how long). When we arrived there were two employees; one spoke good English and the other had only a little. Both friendly! All the veggies and spreads looked fresh and each of the bar height tables had a small array of salt, pepper, ketchup, mayo, and hot sauce. I love being able to tinker with my own sandwich (read: moar hot sauce!) without having to beg the establishment for a revision or a "side of" whatever. We both had the shawerma #3, "Levante," with varying levels of spicy. For very spicy, ask for "sehr scharf!" If we'd had more German, we probably could have also requested specific combinations of veggies. Drinks were mostly limited to water and soft drinks -- no alcohol. Prices were reasonable (5-8 euros per sandwich, depending on toppings). Overall, this place was awesome and I would highly recommend.

There were many locals there, which was a good sign. I give the pizza two stars and the doener kebab five stars. As you can see from the pictures, the kebab was full of very fresh salad items and plenty of meat, with just the right amount of sauce. The pizza, unfortunately, did not have sufficient pizza sauce, and the cheese had an odd taste, and was very salty. With a few tweaks, they could improve the pizza quality as the crust was good. Pricing is very reasonable as well.
