I've been in here a few times over the years. Once to fight a ticket that I got when I was randomly…read morepulled over by a cop & I was a traveling nurse & had out of state plates with a license originally from my home state. I brought copies of my travel contract & explained to the judge that I do 13 week contracts @ a time & it wouldn't make sense for me to change my license & plates for every state that I work in. So he lowered the fine & I paid it that day. It was dumb & I probably should have fought it more but I didn't. I had to go another time to prove that I had car insurance when I was pulled over once as I didn't have a current insurance card on me. That was an easy process. I've been for jury duty before which was a drag.....it's such a long day. When I did jury duty a few yrs ago they had a cafeteria area that I think had Capriotti's, there's a coffee shop right outside the courthouse. They have vending machines too. You will have to go thru security/metal detector upon arrival to the court house so NO weapons are allowed, you have to remove you belt, take things out of your pocket but ya don't need to take off your shoes...think airport security but NO TSA...lol There is a information desk after you pass thru security that can help direct you to where you need to go. This place is BIG with lots of floors. There is elevators, escalators & stairs. I was recently here as I was subpoenaed to court after my house was broken into & robbed. My neighbor had to go too because he went into her house after my house. We had to be there @ 10am but he wasn't seen @ 10am. We had to sit thru other cases so plan on being there for a couple of hours especially if your case isn't called right away and then the judge took a break & he was gone for @ least 45 minutes. What a wasted day as neither one of us needed to go up to speak, we did meet with the DA briefly & I gotta see the criminal in person & he looked much different in real life then on camera. If you're subpoenaed you can go down to the Victim's office & get paid $25 for the day & get reimbursed for mileage. Also if you park in the Fremont Street Parking garage (I believe that's the one) you will get reimbursed for parking but it is a little bit of a walk to the courthouse from there. Bring your parking ticket with you so it can get validated. There are plenty of bathrooms located throughout the court house. And guys "WEAR COURT APPROPRIATE CLOTHING" if you don't know what that is then Google it. It is not jeans, sneakers, sweatshirts, short skirts, shirts with your breasts hanging out, etc. I swear there were so many people in the courtroom I was recently in who were dressed inappropriately & there was one girl who was dressed like a prostitute. Make a good impression & be respectful of the judge & lawyers PLEASE. Oh & the views from some of the floors are amazing!! Good luck!

I only took pics from the outside but should have taken some in the courtroom. It was the most beautiful courtroom I've ever seen!! Not that I've been in too many, usually for jury duty. I had 2 in my purse and they couldn't figure out what was in my purse! It took a minute and finally found them and let us through. The metal gift cards were thick enough to set off the metal detectors. I forgot they were there! Otherwise, everyone was nice and helpful. We were lucky to find a parking spot on the street behind the courthouse. There were spaces with 10 hour limits. Recommend to view the architecture!

Just a few years ago, I had a civil matter I had to take care of with some other roommate Tennant's of mine on the verge of conviction. It was a long day, and we lost our case to the slum manager of an apartment we were staying at. He never showed up to court, but he lawyer did on his behalf. Mr. Wilson did not even put us on a proper lease. So, its really a long story, so we had to leave the premises near the end of the month. I really like how they handle business at this courthouse. Nice and clean courthouse. It does not have that 1970s look or smell like some other American court houses. I was just impressed.

So many people in and out of this place. Not a place I like to come to but I did with someone who got a ticket. Parking is $1 50 a hour!!! They even have change machines incase you Don't have enough quarters. Of course you never know what your in for when you get there so how much do you put in? You go see how much you owe they give you your options then if you don't like that they tell you to go down stairs to see the judge. There was a older man letting people in the court room everyone else sits in the hall. The judge don't want to hear any excuses just gives your options. Well the ticket was $198 ended up being $298 if you don't want points or go to traffic school. Years ago you just said you wanted to go fight the ticket and if the cop didn't show you got out of it. Now the judge tells you if you go to court and lose your ticket could be a lot higher. I guess what it boils down to is obey all signs or come to this place that no one likes! They get you for parking and the tickets! And wasted 1 hour and 20 min left on the meter because we didn't want another ticket! Lol

I walked up to one and tapped on the glass (of the kiosks) to get a Guest Service ticket. I waited patiently being that I was number 5 in the queue. This was after being made to wait 6 hours to pick up personal items. By posting a bond we actually delayed the arraignment process that would occurred much sooner than the 24 hour waiting period that comes after you post a bond. No one provides you with these important details, until you spent your $ for zero results. Here is an update that will hopefully help others navigate this process, because you will not be provided with important information by the facility staff. 1) We needed our offenders personal belongings to access funds to purchase a bail bond. We were told by corrections staff that they make the rounds every 15 minutes to proved the needed consent form the offender completes to give you consent. They said the offender must not be paying attention, our loved one was waiting and waiting, and waiting for over six hours, as they violated her civil rights to access funds for a bail bond. 2) We called many times over a six hour plus period to have them provide the consent form, as evident in their recorded calls. 3) A corrections officer assured us the offender would be released by 7 pm, release was the following day at 6:30 a.m. 4) We called repeatedly checking on release status and the staff has a general script "we are slammed," with cases. However, I interviewed several offenders that were released and they shared that many staff were sitting around just talking on end. Some facility folks tried to be helpful, like getting the consent form for personal belongings after more than 6 hours. The majority of staff came across as rude, angry, unhappy people. At a time when loved ones and families are at their most vulnerable. The punishment will be meted out by the judge; fines, community service... What is the purpose of making you wait for a tampon over 14 hours by the corrections staff-to humiliate and dehumanize you? The auto impound folks showed more compassion and professionalism, and informed better on corrections facility processes.

Liberty and justice for all! Is this the truth!…read more The law is suppose to be clear?! Not grey! Situations arise in our lives that are u predictable. The law is suppose to aid when you call them out. Even the boys in blue could not help me the number of times that I have had to use their services. Let's start from the beginning, I met this guy whom was decent. He had a good personality, made me laugh, and my dogs did not want to eat him. Fast forward to a few months back there was a horrible falling out where metro had to visit me because no means no. It does not mean yes, in any context. We went round and round. Thinking that I was done with this loser, two nights ago he shows up at my door and claims that he lives with me. He forced his way into the house. My daughter calls me screaming and metro comes out and arrests him. Period right, in most states listen up creepers have rights here. Released from jail he is seeing red I'm sure, and blood apparently. He has been blowing up my phone with hate texts and scared with what he could do brings me to court! My sister came into town to help me re-establish my sanity. Metro was amazing at instructions on how to keep this loser away from me. It brings me to the law library for how to get an order of protection. They offer the advice from a lawyer as well. It's not something I want to do, but for the safety of me and mine it's absolutely necessary. Plus that piece of paper will keep this creep away! Inside of the Justice Court House, in downtown Las Vegas, 200 Lewis is where the Civil Law Self Help Center is located. This is where an individual would come to begin the process of seeking an order of protection against parties that are trying to harm you or those that belong to you. The ladies behind the desk were so incredibly helpful and compassionate. They understood that I could possibly be in clear and present danger. The paperwork is confusing to file. Any mistakes can make the judge dismiss the order of protection, so read everything carefully. The individuals in this Civil Law office do their job for free and are incredible at it. The atmosphere in this office just calms one with all the emotional states that walk through their door and need answers. What is the price of our safety? Is their a price well I am learning that because of my situation collecting death benefits from my husbands death a waiver will cover the court costs of filing for the order of protection. It is a blessing in disguise, since the fees are over $80. This is just to file, then to serve the creeper, wow! Check this out I do not even know where he lives either. When we spilt up he moved back to Los Angeles. You never knows what will come back and haunt you. This guy came back! Now at least I'll be able to keep him away! The emergency rush on my order of protection will come to find out will be honored in my case. The metro police officer gave me his information and advised me that he would go to court as a witness the night he was removed in silver bracelets from my house. Ladies and Gents be very careful whom you date or have court thee. I thought that I was being careful, but this creeper came back messing with me and mine. The kind and professional staff here at Civil Law will explain the law to you and how it applies in the situation at hand. Las Vegas has a justice system that seems to favor the criminals and unfortunately metro has to enforce the law. Sure metro looks for loopholes to aid us innocent victims, but that is all they can do. Now that I need to be educated on this area I will be stronger for next time. I am glad for the guidance that I received from the staff here. Now armed with new knowledge of how Nevada law works I will be smarter and confident. The free advise from the lawyer was priceless. She explained and spoke from experience, even though she was not suppose too; her courage and confidence makes me know that I can handle this too. Being single and alone now one never expects someone whom you have not seen in months to show up and darken your doorstep like he owns the place. Please ladies know that their is help for these individuals that think they can rule your life. Break the cycle! In Nevada this is the place to start.
