As such I expected this station to be a rather boring station, though it turns out not to be the case. In fact, on the other platform, it has one of those old station buildings that I do really like. I never realised that, so my opinion of this place has changed quite a lot.

This is my local railway station and I use it regularly. It is a full service station and that…read moremeans that it is staffed when open, you can buy tickets for country trains, as well as, local trains. It is helpful to have a staff station when you only have a $50 bill in your pocket and the ticket machines only give less than $10 change. There are toilets and indoor seating on the inward bound side. The redevelopment in front forecourt of the old 19th Century building has been a great improvement for the area and city bound travellers. However, travelling out of the city means that you get off on a narrow platform with only one exit into an unpaved and badly lite carpark. The trains on this line only run every 20 minutes at best.

In a way this is a major suburban railway station, namely because it happens to be a stop for the…read moreV/Line trains as well as a number of the suburban trains (well, actually all of the suburban trains that head along this line). It is basically a fully serviced railway station, and quite accessible as well, though I'm not entirely sure if it actually sports restrooms (a lot of them don't, and when they do it happens to be locked). Still, trains are reasonably frequent along here.

Essendon Junction does not have a lot to offer, but it does provide a train station (Craigieburn…read moreLine), tram stop (rout 59), bus depot (many routes), 7 Eleven, a couple of bars and a cafe. Essendon station has a lot of parking, but fills early. It is also close to Windy Hill, if you happen to need to go there for some reason.

In a way, I have given this station more credit than it is due in the past, namely because of the…read morereally nice buildings, and that it has been quite convenient to me as well. However, it is one of those stations that I would consider a useless station, namely because it only works to basically slow down the trains along the South Morang line, and the two stations to either side are close enough to walk to. Mind you, I highly doubt that the government could get away with removing this station to speed up the trains.

Honestly, the only reason that I like this station is because it happens to be named after Batman…read more No, not that Batman, but if one doesn't know the history of Melbourne then one could be forgiven that some comic book fan decided to give this station a rather unusual name. Mind you, if that was the case, then there would probably be a station named Superman, Iron Man, and maybe even The Hulk. No, this station was named after the guy who founded the city of Melbourne - John Batman - though he isn't particularly liked all that much any more. Anyway, as a station, this is rather dull, and it is a shame that nobody has decided to come and paint a mural on it to at least give it some character.

Okay, don't expect any facilities here, but it is reasonably close to a rather cool part of High street. Despite its lack of facilities, I still quite like this station.

There probably isn't all that much to actually say about this place, but…read moreit is basically a newer style of station, not the older styles that I like, and there is also a pub in a short walking distance as well. Okay it might not be the best pub out there, but at least it is a pub you can visit while heading home. However, not a great station, and the lack of toilets is also quite disturbing.
