A last minute road trip for the ANZAC Day long weekend took us to York and surrounds. We found Faversham House online and didn't hesitate to book. Arriving was like a step back in time into this grand mansion. I'm sure if the walls could talk there would be some great stories. The room are all individually decorated in antique / period furniture and every corner you turn in the mansion there are interesting artefacts to be found. Owner Richard is an antiques dealer, which explains it all. We stayed in the Pines room, large room with king size bed and ensuite bathroom. Beautifully sunlit it was relaxing to just hang out in the room disconnecting from technology and reading a book. In the evening you can sit in the drawing room, glasses are available to sip your BYO drinks, or sit on the porch and listen to the animal sounds as they wind down for the day. Truly relaxing. Hot and continental breakfast is available on order. Town is 2 minutes walk away for da delicious bite at Alice in the Palace, also owned by Richard and Nola. read more
