My Italian is horrible, so the first person I met was the Patient Liaison on duty, Andrea Hargreaves. She was everything that I needed to express myself and understand the hospital's responses. She stayed with me for each of the doctor's consults, treatments, results, and recommendations. I also met her shift replacement, Nancy Malone. My experience with the doctors and staff was excellent, but would have been very daunting without Ms. Hargreaves' and Ms. Malone's support and communication. Their English and Italian skills were super, and their knowledge of hospital procedures, and their demeanor and support were appreciated very much. If I ever have to return to the San Bortolo ER for any reason in the future, I'm relieved that these two professionals are there to assist. Thank you, ladies!

I understand that hospitals have to prioritize people based on the urgency of a problem, but they…read moreshould be able to give some sense of waiting time. This hospital had no sense of timelines for seeing patients, and the response was, "you'll be seen when you're seen". If a hospital administrator reads this - my advice is that you should be able to give someone as sense of how long it will take be seen, even if it's a rough approximation. After 3 hours of waiting, I left. I am not able to comment on the quality of care because I did not receive any. If you're visiting Venice, if it's not an emergency, I didn't recommend coming here unless you've got time on your hands.

Impressive job in an emergency. One of the members of our group needed emergency assistance due to…read morean afib. The team that showed up and transported him was stellar, headed by a very badass woman. From the moment of the realization of the problem to this team showing up, was no more than about five min. From that point to arriving at the hospital was not more than 40 min. Which included the ambulance boat. I have to give credit to the team at the JW Marriott as well. Everyone was so kind and expedient. Spent 3.5 hours at the hospital and were able to go to dinner with friends afterward. The procedure included three IVs and a shock to the heart. The cost? $354.
