She was very cautious at getting updated radiology reports before treatment. I'm glad she did because I discovered I had some more serious issues on my cervical spine than I knew. I was in serious pain when I first came and shortly after my adjustment my swelling went down. She also has a massage therapist in the office and she is amazing!!! I've gone twice now for that and 90 min massages help with my tension. She goes above and beyond for her patients. Due to a fall injury, I went to Millar to seek relief from a sprained back. It turns out the…read morefacility is a poorly run, poorly laid out operation. Their is no personal service but rather a business plan that gets you in and out, in a confined room (+ 3 patients at a time) with no privacy. The equipment used is either useless or extreme. Injuries were not only ignored but more were actually incurred. At checkout, the charges were increased due to me having injuries I reported (bruised ribs). X-rays were ordered but were useless as to the reported pain, except for the Dr. to justify a dozen more "alignment " sessions unrelated to the reported issues. A rushed consultation was given but cut short due to overbooked sessions waiting. All appointments made were cancelled to avoid further injury. Go to a real chiropractor that listens and addresses the problem, not a facility who's only priority it to minimize time, pack in patients like cattle and overcharge for services. This type of operation is what gives Chiropractic services a bad name.

These people at Functional have been irresponsible and nasty towards me. Since I have upper…read morecervical issues, when I discovered Dr. Porter did upper cervical adjustments, I called him several times to check if they take insurance. They don't and they made it sound like they wouldn't give you a receipt with the medical codes so that you could get reimbursed. I have tried to see what their receipts looked like, but their office manager refused to show me one. When a different regular chiropractor referred me to them although I told him not to, they never contacted me to even let me know they had his referral. Eventually, the other chiropractor asked if I had heard from them. I hadn't, so I decided to drive out of my way to find out what was going on. When I arrived, the office manager was very ugly to me. When she had received the referral like a month or so earlier, instead of contacting me, she threw it out. It seems this office manager hadn't liked my earlier phone calls showing an interest in them and my being concerned about getting a receipt that would be valid for my getting reimbursed by my insurance company. She chose instead to argue with me and had no intention of letting me become Dr. Porter's patient because, I guess, she hadn't liked my need for a fileable receipt since I had had no other pervious contact with her. I had my insurance company call them the next day, and she hung immediately up on them. I can't say if Dr. Porter's approach works since I never got to even see or talk to him. Their uncivil and unprofessional behavior, however, turned me off to them anyhow. The Huntsville area could benefit from attracting more upper cervical chiropractors so that we had a healthy choice to chose from and so that we wouldn't be forced into trying to work with an uncooperative and mean spirited practice like this one.
