Focus Health and Safety has the pleasure to announce his next Noise Course, which will be held on…read more31th July 2014 in Swindon and will last only one day. Since 2005, the company has focused on helping large or small organizations to minimize the risk of seriously harming their employees through exposure to loud environments and vibrating power tools. Focus Health and Safety provides both Noise and Vibration training courses to businesses in the United Kingdom, but the course held at the end of July targets only the Noise side. The course is named Noise at Work Guidance Training and represents an introduction to the protection of employees from industrial hearing damage and key issues of noise assessment and control. Noise at Work Guidance Training is a fully IOSH accredited course and the attending delegates who successfully complete the training and examination will better understand the noise terminology, sound behaviour and the hearing damage risks and consequences. Also, they will achieve the necessary skills for carrying out basic noise measurement. Delegates will be required to deal with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, which includes the assessment of noise risk, appropriate noise prevention methods and the presentation of a professional noise control action plan. The total cost of the course is £235.00+VAT, which includes course materials, lunch and refreshments. Tickets to the course can be already purchased through online booking.

A great place to learn or develop your French whatever your level. The teachers are all French…read morenative speakers - really helpful when trying to get your accent right. The courses range from beginners 1 all the way up to advanced. Each course last 10 weeks with one three hour session a week - mainly during the evenings. Although, some courses are offered on a Saturday morning. Average class sizes are around 10 people. Cost of courses are pretty cheap at £5 an hour. One course offers 130 hours of teaching. The Alliance also has a library with a range of French dvd's, novels and newspapers - awesome! You want even more? Then you can attend the book club or watch a scheduled film with others. Highly recommend the courses here - I have completed Beginners 1 and starting Beginners 2.

The Alliance offers classes in French at varying levels - from beginner's basics to complex classes for those who are almost fluent. They also host cultural events from plays in French to screenings of French cinema, as well as lots of one-off educational events. The offices themselves feel a little schoolish - lots of flyers and posters everywhere - but this is a learning environment and it is very welcoming. The staff are really really lovely and make you feel really welcome - even when you attempt to speak French terribly badly and embarrass yourself. They are patient and interesting and go out of their way to help you out. Tres bien.

Firstly, it's spelt 'Aquinas'. Secondly, I've been attending for six months now, and I've been…read moreenjoying all of it. The staff are all friendly, the lessons are great and very well taught, add to that a plethora of extra curricular stuff like sports, College Magazine, Creative Writing, and even an Anime club. The only real big problem with the college is 'Ethics', which is both annoying and pointless, and whats worse is it's an enforced part of the curriculum. Aquinas College, in 2009 surpassed all other local colleges, including the non-state schools, and came out #1 in Stockport. It has close links with several European colleges and regularly partakes in exchanges, currently hosting the Romanian exchange (as of 5/2/09). Several trips are also part of the curriculum, including trips to Rome for Classics, Poland for History and India, for the colleges India project, of which a massive fundraising scheme has been held each year for the past 10 years. Opportunities are also present with talks from several institutions including Journalism talks from the BBC. The latest Ofsted report described Aquinas as 'an outstanding college'. The adjective 'outstanding' was found to occur 26 times in the finished report. The report praised the friendly and positive environment for students to learn in. It was also touched upon that the use of IT was well applied to keep students engaged. Furthermore: Teachers and support staff work very well together to provide outstanding guidance and support. The college's response to education and social inclusion is outstanding. A broad curriculum meets the needs of students very well. Alternative pathways are available for students not yet ready to study at advanced level and the college works hard to engage students who may otherwise not participate in further education. Extensive enrichment activities and voluntary work enhances students'skills. The Every Child Matters themes are embedded in all aspects of college life. A list of Key strengths was drawn up: - Inclusive college - High success rates on many courses - Very good value added on A2 - Excellent individual support for students - Productive partnerships - Outstanding governance - Outstanding range of courses and enrichment activities. Ofsted also criticized the present building as being too cramped for the current demand for students. In response, a new college is currently being constructed, with the old one being demolished upon completion.
