They have single and double breasted dinner suits, tailcoat jackets, numerous waistcoats, ties and even highland wear finery! You really won't find a better place to kit yourself/your man out in the most exquisite and refined occasion wear, it is the bees knees. Hire prices are really competitive, with lots of helpful add ons, such as a £5 accidental damage waiver and £3 for cufflinks. They also offer the fifth hire outfit free if you are ordering more than four outfits! Nice, right? The staff seem to be keen to help too, which is always nice and reassuring! The next time my boyfriend and I are invited to a wedding or special event I am going to insist that we come here for a fitting, the clothing is just awesome! Their window displays are something else, too, and utterly deserve a mention as well. With those beautiful hand made ships, victorian one-shot cameras and bamboo plants it's more of an arty display of finery than a display. I realise, quite literally, it isn't so special but this is because they sell "country" wear and not formal wear. For a local store which has been nurtured over the years and grown into the reliable label it is, for many an Ilkley-ite, it is pretty impressive. They stock a number of high-end country wear brands that would put any old Fat Face to shame, really. These clothes are for more than show, they seem to be both stylish country clothing (which isn't really my taste as such, I'm not a huge fan of the diamond padded jackets I must say!) and durable outdoors wear all in one. From wellies to jackets to knitwear, Eric Spencer has almost everything of this kind. They have men's and ladies' wear too, so no one can go without. My bf added gingseng to his (this combo wasn't on the menu but the server immediately suggested she could add it after he mentioned he was torn between the two). I tried the blood tonic milkshake after discovering the foul-sounding concoction actually involves hibiscus, rosehip and nettles. Any health benefits were of course ruled out by the ice cream, cream and (giant) flake topping, but it was yummy. Bf got an ice cream sundae, the "small" version being the side of his head (the large is normally recommended for sharing). My dad pounced on some lemon cake which he loved. If you don't have a sweet tooth there are a few savoury options, including a good selection of teas. But it really is a sweet flavour-oriented place - one of my fave features was that you can get a jam sandwich. The price point is really reasonable, sub £3 for the milkshakes which is excellent value, particularly considering you are in such a pretty environment. The shop itself doesn't look to have changed since it was first set up. Fantastic wooden pew-type benches, ancient soda syphons, antique counter and display material - everything is just so wonderful. Having said all that, one gets very quickly bored and we left to find a pub! (At that time there wasn't one in Rawtenstall that served real ale!)
