Everyone knows the caipirinhas are only ok when bought from a barraca (the stands where they sell you the chair/umbrella rental), but thankfully there's Andreas, The Caipirinha Man, who walks the hot sands in search of thirsty humans.
With one large styrofoam cooler hanging from each shoulder, Andreas can often be found strolling Leblon beach in the afternoon. You can't call him unfortunately, but if you're lucky, you'll get to enjoy one of the most exquisite cairpirinhas in all the land. His blend is unique in that Andreas uses a bit of fresh orange with lime (most others just use lime) to cut the tart and offer a more balanced (and gulpable) cocktail.
Right at your towel, he'll set down his cooler and create a mini bar. Before you know it, he's pulled out a mortar and pestle and he's thoroughly layering out the steps to make your one-of-a-kind caipirinha. He put a lot of love into making my drink and 10 minutes later, it was one of the best I've ever had. Cash only.
