On the other hand, I can appreciate that it's a compact market (it only spans the block directly in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art) so that makes it a little more manageable than some other markets for some folks. It's not a destination farmer's market or anything, but when I'm here for doctors appointments I'd pick up from here if I wanted some fresh farm goods.

While I love the LP green city farmers market, it's incredibly crowded and if you have a car, good luck finding parking. This west loop location is smaller. There are fewer venders here than the other location, but there are far less people and finding parking isn't difficult at all. The park is also beautifully shaded and hilly. Clusters of tents are spread out a bit. You could miss a few if you don't walk around. As much as I love all of the bakery representation at the LP location, I will frequent the green city market in the west loop instead. It's so much less of a headache

The market only has a few vendors, but they are really great. I love going to look at the flowers and usually grab a pastry and coffee to take home. There are several produce and meat/egg stands, but I find everything to be a little too pricey for me to justify buying much. However, they do triple match Illinois Link! I wish the market had a few more vendors, as it gets crowded quickly and the lack of competition favors the high prices, but it is a nice thing to do each weekend. I appreciate that it is dog friendly so I can bring my dog with me to get some socialization in.

Many vendors and always something a little extra in the neighborhood. Whether it's the variety of dog-petting options or someone setting up a small yard sale, there's always something more to do in the area. Downsides? It starts at 10am, so if you have kids or are a morning person, that's like waaay too late. Also, parking. Argh, I know. If you're not within walking distance from the market, expect to be driving for a bit. Side streets are all permit and the main streets are packed with brunch-goers (another downside of it starting so late). But once you've driven around, questioned why the hell you're doing this, answered "what are you doing?" To your kids about a thousand times, saw and lost a space, finally find one and get to the market...it's worth it. Enjoy. Get yourself an overpriced cold brew, breathe, and find a dog to pet.

Soon as I saw them scraping all that melted cheese over the sandwiches, I already knew I was getting one. I went with the Jambon Cru. Melted raclette scraped over cured ham on toasted baguette with spring onions, baby gherkins, and Dijon. And wow... this thing was a cheesy overload. So much melted cheese, rich, creamy, and warm. The baguette was toasted with that nice crunch, sturdy enough to hold all of it together. Then the gherkins and Dijon came in and cut through all that richness with a little tang and sharpness, which made every bite better. Messy, cheesy, a little ridiculous honestly. The whole market has such a fun vibe too. Busy, lots of people walking around, fresh produce everywhere, live energy all around. The people at the booth were super friendly too. Now I'm seriously about to go to Wisconsin just to find them again.

Now that my work schedule has been adjusted and I have weekends off, the opportunity to visit became relevant. My interest to visit was to get more into purchasing fruits and vegetables that are presented, however, I do love visiting the set-ups with the tempting sweet goodies which at this location I did enjoy ice cream at a vendor known as 'Bartleby's Ice Cream Cakes' and conversing with the ladies during my visit. Initially, I was on the fence with visiting this location because there were not many customers at it despite the many vendors. Which might be because most in the East Garfield Park community are not familiar with farmers market or simply cannot afford it. Despite being on the fence, I vowed to one of the vendors that I would stop in after leaving Bud Billiken Parade at the time after asking how long the market will be open for the day. The conversation alone gave me that welcoming feeling to return. I am all about supporting local entrepreneurs that are trying to get their name and items out there which becomes reality at farmers market. But it's situated rights at the Picasso of Chicago. Summer time vibes people just hanging out around the fountain and people watching. Pretty much standard fare for a farmers market. This one has a bit more jewelers and gift options. One thing I notice was the Raclette stand right in front of the Picasso. Mm... hot melt cheese! It's fun to watch too. Always fun stuff happening at Daley Plaza. Random house music parties, pop up shops, and sometimes protests. Always worth passing through when traveling through the loop. Always something fun going on and something tasty to eat.

I love the vegan basket place (see photo)...so many delicious options. Today I tried the chorizo black bean but had the breakfast scramble last time. Everyone working there is so friendly, gives recommendations and will tell you all about their business. I highly recommend- the park and the booths are beautiful and a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning!
