I was referred to Fangting for baby photos by a friend who had used her services for several different photoshoots, and I was always impressed by the various creative props and outfits and neat locations around San Diego she had taken photos in. The lighting of the photos and detail was always on point and oh so flattering. So when I saw a promo she was doing for a studio shoot for babies who were newly sitting-up independently I jumped on it for our 8-month old baby girl. I was not disappointed! I was nervous leading up to the shoot about every drool mark and rash that our baby had, thinking it would ruin the photos, and we were of course running behind and the baby was approaching naptime and was teething and drooling copiously the day of the shoot. Turns out I had no reason to be nervous. The powers of a talented photographer and staging and photo editing! We are so happy we have beautiful photos to cherish from this special stage of our baby's life, especially as her eyes are changing to darker brown and Fangting was able to capture their current hazel color, and her adorable chubby cheeks. Maddie came out still looking like herself, awkward hair and all, but the best version of herself that we all wish we could capture. Fangting was very patient and had a comfortable couch in her Mission Valley studio for us to get everything situated. We never felt rushed. She had everything needed for the photos and suggested the poses, although if we were so inclined she's the type who would easily work with your ideas. We were able to stay close to the baby, who was pretty tipper as a new sitter, and it was all very safe. One parent stayed by the baby to catch her falls and the other danced around trying to get her to smile. What would have helped is if we had brought some more toys from home to capture the baby's attention. There were a lot of interesting new things to play with and look at in the studio other than the camera lens lol. Photos came back quickly (1-2 weeks) and we are thrilled with how they turned out! Fangting is AMAZING!!! So much so that she's been my daughter's photographer several times now. She has done my daughter's six month Sitter photos, my daughter's One Year Old photos (in which I told her what I envisioned and she brought it to life), and we've just had our 2023 Christmas photos done with Fangting. I HAD A AMAZING SESSION, drove all the way to San Diego from Orange County to get my sons first birthday pictures done. She was so helpful and very nice. My son doesn't smile too often but was able to get him to smile that day! I reached out to Fangting to capture my proposal to my girlfriend, which was outdoor and during nighttime hours. Within minutes of reaching out to her on yelp, we were having a conversation about the details. I provided ideas on several locations, and times and I received excellent feedback for making it happen. Fangting was open to my ideas and worked with me to ensure that what I wanted was what I got. I even gave Fangting my thoughts on floral arrangements and candles for added touch. She took charge and reached out to a florist for arrangements and candles. Like a true professional, Fangting met me at the shoot location the night prior. She familiarized herself with the spot and lighting conditions by taking test shots. Photography is a precious and careful art. The master behind the lens is charged with the responsibility of capturing an ephemeral moment that would otherwise pass with the seconds of time. When you hire a photographer, you are entrusting them to apply their art, skills, and talents to capture specific, valuable moments that you want to remember forever- whether it is your wedding day, happy moments shared with the family, or the joy of your family and children. For us: our precious rainbow babies finally turned 1 this year. The years leading up to their birth, and the days, weeks, and months that followed, carried a significant meaning to our families. It was very important (both personally and culturally) that we capture our boys for their 1st year milestone. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for Fangting in taking our family photos. We were seeking a reasonably priced individual that we could trust with this moment in time, and Yelp led us to Fangting. As mentioned above, we wanted to be sure to capture the appropriate artist for this very important moment in our lives so we shopped around for weeks. Although there are many talented folks based in San Diego, we ultimately chose Fangting based on several factors: (1) Talent: As evidenced through her portfolio, Fangting has an artistic eye. She has many more examples aside from the beautiful ones already featured on her website. Feel free to ask her for other examples. We, for example, received examples of her work with young children in a public setting. She evidenced her ability to capture squirmy young ones who aren't quite of age to follow directions. This gave us high confidence that she would be able to take on the project. (2) Communication: As a professional, one thing I cannot stand is poor or impersonal communication. Fangting satisfied my every desire with 100% on-point communication. She offers you a means to connect via telephone, email, and text based on your personal preference. She is quickest by text, but otherwise prompt on all other forms of communication. I highly appreciated this -- especially when I had questions about the process, dates, etc. She provided all the information quickly and promptly. (3) Price: Fangting is extremely competitive for price. In fact, we received MUCH, MUCH more than what we had bargained for. We hired her for the hour -- she ensured that we received MORE than the hour at our first session.. then graciously offered us a SECOND session at her studio because our boys were having a bad day during the first session (wrangling two newly mobile kids under the age of 1 and trying to capture both smiling at the camera is daymn near impossible). Fangting acknowledged and understood the cultural and personal importance of the photo session to our families. Her generosity did not stop there! She provided additional edited photos than what was promised. My husband and I were absolutely speechless with the final product, the number of photos we received, and the gift to both our families. I remain speechless to her generosity. Those were the top three factors that led us to selecting Fangting, but there are many factors from our contact/ experience with her that would bring us back to her and refer her business. (A) Patience: She is SUCH a calm soul. As mentioned above, working with two young children who cannot take direction is NOT easy. My husband and I were flustered trying to get the kids to sit and smile or look this way or do that for the camera. She just rolled with it and took whatever opportunities presented. (My husband and I on the other hand got a major workout.) Keep in mind, she encountered our rambunctious, eager-to-explore-the-world boys TWICE. She is very brave! She was just as calm the second time around (and we were just as crazed). (B) Quality of equipment and skill with photo editing: Photography is one part, but equipment and editing is another. She graciously edited the photos with some CRAZY requests (aka: make this mommy and daddy who haven't seen a gym in over a year look skinnier). My husband (who dabbles in photography) acknowledged her PS skills & that she had good equipment. She wasn't a newbie to photography. (C) Professionalism: From start to finish, Fangting was perfect and professional. She did not falter in her timeline to return the edited photos. She maintained communication. She carried no hidden costs. We had a great relationship. (And I have to say: she's so pretty that I personally think she should be on the other side of the camera as the model!) I actually did not choose Fangting myself. Rather, she was chosen for me by the media outlet I was doing my photoshoot for. Because of this, and the fact that they are not local and made their selection somewhat blindly, I was originally a little apprehensive in their choice. My pre-photoshoot interactions with Fangting were brief and through e-mail mostly. As soon as she stepped on the scene, I could tell why she's so great at what she does! Fangting is one of the warmest strangers I've ever met. She instantly makes you feel at ease and like you are the star of the show. She carried my wardrobe/jewelry bags and refused to let me lift a finger. She even thought to bring a bottle of (frozen) water so that as the day went on, I would have an icy cold drink. I found Fangting through Yelp 3 years ago and there is a reason why she gets so many great reviews. She has an impeccable service and is so easy to work with. My husband is camera shy and our puppy is not always cooperative. Fang knew exactly what to tell my husband to make him at ease and she brought treats for our pup. She was so patient with her. Fangting is awesome! She has the skill, personality, and most importantly she has the passion for photography that really takes her work to a whole other level. My husband and I used her on our wedding day on August 27, 2017 and we couldn't be happier with the results. I admit I am a very hard-to-please (and at-t difficult) person. Especially when it comes to artistic stuff. But boy Fangting does DELIVER amazing photos and service when I hired her to take my wife's maternity pictures.
