The lady that helped me this week was very helpful and knowledgeable about the plant-world. I was in a hurry when I bought two flats of Mixed Heatwave Vinca; so, I didn't make it to all the other sections of the nursery and that's my loss. There's a tree section; a shrubbery section; an indoor greenhouse and on and on. This place is big! In addition to the annuals, I should've also bought a hanging basket for my Mom for Mother's Day, because there were some beautiful arrangements. Oh and the prices seemed to be less than other places that have hanging baskets and flats of flowers right now. I can't wait to go back to Hazelwood's just as soon as I can.

As a matter of fact, many of the ones left buy their product from walmart because its cheaper (just kidding). I'm all about cheaper vegetables for families who are on a tight budget, but the trip out here is good for the soul. Walk around, get some exercise and fresh air. Check out the plants, produce, baked goods, and ice cream. This is a wonderful place to take kids. Its educational, its fun, its delicious. You may live in the city and have absolutely no time for a garden, but you and your kids deserve that chance to see what a local market looks like. I'm not sure where they source everything, but they definitely grow much of the flowers and plants inside the green houses. You may pay a little extra, but its worth the trip. When you are finished, get some ice cream and sit out on the rocking chairs. You may catch a cool breeze.

Their selection of cookies, pies, brownies etc. is darn near irresistible. Everything looks so yummy! Lastly, and the reason for my visit (first of many I'm sure) is their nursery. I didn't count, but they probably have 5 or 6 huge greenhouses filled with large, healthy and vibrant plants. Indoor, outdoor, landscaping plants or herbs and vegetables. Whatever you're looking for, they'll probably have the best looking ones you'll find anywhere! I've been shopping for some hanging plants to adorn my front porch and have checked out the ones at Lowes, Home Depot and Marvins. Those places have nothing on Williams!!! These plants put the competitors to shame. Heads up though, this is NOT IN TRUSSVILLE. In fact, it's well on the other side of Argo! Driving Gadsden Hwy (11) all the way there takes a long time. You would be wise to take I-59 to exit 148.

My search was for something that would actually kill weeks, not get washed away in the rain or (this actually happened once) act like a fertilizer and make the weeds literally double in size over the course of the next week. Staff were helping another person when I arrived, but when they were done with that person they asked how they could help and got me all set up with what I needed. I would recommend these guys - check them out - see pics for type of stuff that you can find here - weed destroyers, pest and bug control, pet supplies are among some of the things you'll be able to find here.

Went with friends from church and since I had not visited before, I took a list with all the pot…read moresizes I wanted to fill. That proved immensely helpful because I was overwhelmed the second my feet hit the dirt! A lovely lady, Rebecca, approached and asked how she could help. She was very happy that I brought the pot sizes as well as where I intended to place them (sun/shade). In no time at all I had a wagon full and with what my friends and I purchased, my trunk space was full. Pricing is a bit on the high side but honestly, the stock is beautiful, healthy and the variety is abundant. Add in the personal attention I received and it was money well spent because a multitude of choices were offered for the specific types of plants I needed. If I wasn't really liking something she suggested, we moved on. She was so helpful! On my next visit I will take some time to browse inside the store, they had some lovely gift ideas but time wasn't on my side at that point. Such a fun outing! (As for getting there, I-65 South was fine on the way there even though a significant stretch is under construction. The return was jammed so we came back on Hwy 31. While it took longer, there were no traffic delays.)
