I'm mortified that I haven't ever reviewed Fancy Nancy's Salon! This place is wonderful. I have seen Meredith for around 20 years. She is my go-to blonde expert. She has brought me back from dark brown from red from this weird green color that happened when I tried to tone myself haha. She's amazing and really understands blonde and how to get to the color you are looking for. I have brought multiple shades of blonde clip in extensions to this woman, asking her to match my color to it and she's nailed it every time. Jenna is absolutely the best. She will not let you leave her chair with a single strand of hair not looking exactly the way she wants it to. She only does perfect, no matter how much effort it takes her. I live on the other side of the country now, and will only let Jenna touch my hair whenever I'm back. Even 7 months after getting my last balayage, I still get compliments from people on my hair because Jenna designed it that it faded so perfectly I got multiple looks. 100/100 would recommend! read more

I had chopped my hair a week ago at a different salon and I really didn't like the cut. I booked an appointment with Tabitha at Fancy Nancy's and thank God I did. Tabitha was extremely patient and listened to me explain what parts of the cut I didn't like. She even explained terms to me, such as "stacked", so I understood the effects. I've been going to Fancy Nancy's for a few years now ... for a couple years I was out of state going to another salon but am back and going to my favorite hairstylist once again. The very talented In-Suk. Shes does such great color and her cuts are the best. She always listens to what I want. Add on top of that that she is such a lovely and kind person and makes my visits to the salon something I always look forward to. I was visiting my daughter in New Hampshire from Florida and we had a girls' day at the salon on March 30. Karen was our stylist. It was the first time we both met Karen. She was super warm and welcoming as well as a great listener for what we wanted done. We got exactly what we asked for. My daughter had a full highlight, haircut, blowout, and style including curls. I've been seeing Amanda for almost a decade now and have never had a better experience. I've tried a few salons beforehand and I never felt completely satisfied before I had a few friends recommend that I go to Fancy Nancy's and see Amanda. My first appointment with her I remember vividly, her and I spent some time deciding what we wanted to do in that first appointment, my hair journey up until then, and where I wanted to go in the future. It felt like she completely understood what I was trying to get across without me having to explain it in excruciating detail. Ever since then, it's like she's been able to read my mind about what I wanted to do or change up my hair. The conversation is always flowing, she's a great listener for both hair related concerns and just conversation in general. She's incredibly knowledgeable about her craft and can answer any potential question, theoretical or not. At this point, she's the only person I trust with my hair and have recommended her to many friends for both regular salon services and even wedding hair/makeup. She's an incredibly kind person with a great sense of humor and our appointments always (sadly) seem to fly by. I know I can reach out to her with any problems I have post appointment and she'll be ready with a solution. Overall, every experience I've had at Fancy Nancy's has been great. I've had to call about rescheduling and I've always gotten quick responses. Everyone working is always chatting with each other and sharing ideas and it seems like a great environment. Was recommended by friends and family and happy I went. Tried them out with a coupon for my first visit. My stylist James was great and gave me a beautiful cut, style, blow dry and eyebrow wax. I was quite pleased with my cut. But, why does she not know how to blow dry the style so I look ok when I leave? Why are you using a flat iron to try to add lift to my hair? Why not blow it dry that way? Or a curling iron? But a FLAT IRON? Why? First time there I was offered a big discount for a color. It was awful. I'm 64. Why would you make my highlights so pale it makes me look grey? And older? Maybe I got the wrong stylist for me, so I'll give it another chance with someone else. I'm going to try them again with someone else. I may revisit this review. Until then, be aware. read more

I have been getting my hair done for years!! Well my schedule has been really tough lately so my usual stylist couldnt get me in so I tried this place. I told the lady that took my appt that I wanted somone who is not new and knew what she was doing. she scheduled me with Damaris. totally got a nervous vibe as soon as i sat in her chair. Well I was there for 3 and a half hours! I wanted a foil (what I have always gotten) And she wanted to add color as well i told her i always have a reaction on my scalp to color , she did it anyways and ended up having to rinse it off because of course I was having a reaction. So the front of my hair is a totally different color than the rest. And I had to pay a good amount of money for a TERRIBLE foil! NEVER AGAIN read more

3 to 4 Stars overall and I would give it a second chance... I had a weird experience making my appointment here. First, I had a really hard time understanding the woman on the phone. I said I'd prefer the morning and she made me an appointment for 4:30. I repeated it back to her to be sure and she said YES. I blamed myself for waiting so long to make an appointment figuring they had none in the AM. Then we she hung up she said, "See you tomorrow Morning" Then I was really confused! Maybe she said 9:30!???? Then I got a confirmation text that said 12:30! Which is not even the morning. It's a good thing I had that whole day off! So the next morning I got a message (thank goodness) saying that they were really sorry but something came up that morning and they could get me in with a different woman at 1:00PM. I called back to confirm and that went well. The woman who ended up cutting and washing my hair was very nice and did a good job. My only other complaint was that their website states a discount for first time guests and it was not given automatically even though they knew I was a first time guest. I don't believe I should have had to ask. So I didn't and then I was just annoyed about it. I kind of feel like it should have been 3 stars.... The extra star is because I liked that the wash is included in the price of the cut and there are no questions asked. Simple. Priced well and no extra decisions to be made. I will re-evaluate if I ever go back. The phone thing would have been very upsetting if I had actually had something else to do that day. read more

I had gotten a balayage done at another salon and was not happy with the final result. Given the poor customer service experience, I was not looking to return to the same salon, so I called Fancy Nancy's. I requested an appointment with a stylist who had experience working with thick, dark hair for toning to cover all of the brassiness that was left in my hair. They were able to fit me in with Luz! She did an awesome job correcting the balayage color to a cool neutral tone as I requested. Walked out loving my hair and feeling super thankful that I met Luz. I'm perplexed by the positive reviews of this salon. I've had better haircuts at Supercuts. My entire experience - shampoo, cut and dry - took maybe 25 minutes. It was not thorough. After leaving I found long strands that were not cut and now I'm going to another salon to touch up my cut and even it out. My blow dry was the equivalent of something I could do at home, she didn't even use a round brush, and that's usually the part I love the most about having my hair styled. Everyone was pleasant, but the salon also looks dated and messy. I went here because of the positive reviews and because it was open on a Sunday, but I usually pay slightly more for a beautiful salon also off Exit 1 and it's a way better experience and haircut. I live in the Boston area but needed a haircut "urgently" on a Sunday and we were headed to NH for the day anyway... found Fancy Nancy's on Yelp and figured I'd give the place a shot. Nancy herself cut my hair, and I LOVE it. I asked for a low-maintenance, professional-looking cut and that's exactly what I got. Nancy even showed me how to style it without blow-drying, and made sure it's just long enough that I can still put it up in a ponytail. I had heard positive things about Fancy Nancy's so I was excited to go to the salon. I specifically requested a slight trim, and long layers. I previously had really long, beautiful wavy hair. What I received was 4(!) inches off in my length, and "long layers" that are about 5 inches shorter than my length. Seriously - my "long layers" fall just above my shoulders - that's pretty darn short if you ask me. It will take me an extremely long time to grow out this cut. It's been a while since my hair cut and I'm still devastated. My hair is impossible to style now. So disappointing. The worst part was I wasn't even given the opportunity to speak up while the cut was happening. She had my back turned AGAINST the mirror so it could be a "surprise". When I was finally able to see my hair, I couldn't believe how much of it was missing!!!!! At least if I had seen what was going on, I would have had the opportunity to speak up. I have never had a hair dresser do this before, and I will never get my hair cut again with out being able to see what is going on. Please listen to what your clients want, and don't just do what you THINK will look good!! You aren't the one who needs to style it everyday. Now my hair poofs out where the layers are, I feel incredibly self-conscious every single day. I'm sure it was just my experience, but the overall salon was very nice, clean and a pleasant environment. My first visit here was THE BEST salon experience I've had, ever! My hair stylist Tabitha and the owner Nancy worked so great together as my hair was a hot mess and needed "the works"! They knew exactly what I needed and w/out me having to say a word, they went to town!! I agreed with all of their professional opinions, they explained step by step what they were doing and the final result was AMAZING! I am still shocked and amazed looking at before and after pics. Fancy Nancy's Salon is great! Always clean and friendly. I recommend seeing Amanda. She is fantastic with your traditional styles, as well as edgy cuts and colors. She really listens to what you want, and is able to create it... and even do it better than you imagined! She has brought my hair from dark brown to blonde and back to brown multiple times.. and still keeps the integrity of your hair. My hair is still so healthy after multiple treatments. Coming from Boston, the drive was easy & the salon is right off the highway. I had Darlene as my stylist and she knew exactly what I wanted and quickly got my color mixed and started! I've been here a few times over the past couple of years. I was referred to Erin from a friend. She has always done a great job coloring and cutting my hair. I was desperate to get my hair done and Erin was booked so I took an appointment with Heidi. My hair desperately needed color correction and a cut. Heidi did a great consult, she listened to me and explained my options. I was very happy with the results. I am a hairdresser's worst nightmare, I color my own hair (with varied success), cut my own bangs, and go months to a year without going to the salon. Neither Erin nor Heidi made me feel like they were judging or scolding me for my poor hair decisions. Everyone in the salon seems very nice and welcoming. read more
