Three days before we are supposed to pick up our boy, she started saying that date didn't work for her. She now doesn't answer multiple attempts to rectify the situation and of course, even though she canceled the sale there is no deposit refunded. STAY AWAY FROM THIS "CATTERY".

I purchased a retired breeder girl from this breeder. She was 5-1/2 years old and absolutely…read moreterrified when I first got her. I expected that as a possible reaction to a new environment. Her tail was always, always wedged under her butt. It took months before her tail slowly began to make its way out to a slightly noticeable wag to indicate some level of trust and pleasure. I will say she was up-to-date on vet care and vaccines, but her teeth were an absolute mess with two abscessed teeth. Slowly I began to realize this scared pup did not play with toys, did not respond to treats, doorbells, door knocks, other people, or even other pets. At 5-1/2, she had no clue what to do when I put a leash on her. I'm convinced she never even knew she had a name. She was never potty trained (at 5-1/2!!!), and potty training her now is a total bust because she will not respond to treats. She runs away when I offer her a treat, as if she's about to be grabbed by a bribe (the only explanation I can come up with). I've spent 2-1/2 years desensitizing her to people, sounds, changes in environment...building trust. As a hound dog, she showed zero curiosity, so I made a point of always getting her to smell everything. It's progress, and she's way more curious, but there's a long way to go. I've had 6 other dachshunds, and this sweet girl has few of the characteristics which doxies are famous for. I can only surmise that she was never socialized, never knew affection and love, and had very limited human interaction except to be treated as a tool. This breeder did a huge disservice to this poor beautiful pup. She has come a long way with a lot of work, and at 8 years old she is now very well loved and cherished and will always be even with the challenges. Every so often those doxie traits begin to show up as trust continues to build. Advice: be cautious if buying a retired breeder dog from this breeder.

Anna admitted to me that the bird I was buying (a three month old bird) wasn't used to hands... not something you want to hear from a small breeder that should be hand feeding and socializing the birds to keep them friendly with humans. He's a pretty little guy but still deathly afraid of people and will run from hands... a stark contrast to my other bird from a friendly breeder out of state who had obviously hand reared her. Lots of dirty cages and unhealthy looking birds here... I guess I felt sorry for my little guy and that's why I bought him. I won't go back though.
