Gulf Stream was in the process of filing for bankruptcy and the agency did not make us aware of this fact and allowed us to pay our annual premium on July 12, 2021 knowing they were going out of business. Now, we're out the money until it is hopefully repaid from the state of Florida plus we have to pay a new insurance company an annual premium out of pocket. That is two annual premiums within 45 days. If they would have just contacted us and told to find a new company prior to renewal, all of this would have been avoided. Now it is costing $1900 out of pocket. Do not use this agency.

Several months ago, I found that there was a leak in the drainpipe under my kitchen sink. It was…read moreright at the back wall of the cabinet and possibly further than that. I had to have a contractor come and open up the cinder block wall and found that it was leaking there, as well. In addition to the leak mold was discovered. It was just more than I could handle on my own. After I discovered the mold, I contacted my insurance company to make a claim. They sent out a field adjuster to assess my claim. Although he ignored the mold issue that I had told him about, and because I had to remove the cabinet to get to the pipe in the cinderblock, he told me they would replace the kitchen cabinets. The offered amount, that came alarmingly short of the cost of replacement cabinets, did not include some of the costs incurred for removal and preparation work for reinstallation to make my kitchen whole again. A friend told me about Joe Connelly at Recovery Insurance Adjusters. I contacted Joe and it was THE BEST DECISION I could have ever made. Joe visited my home and explained that the estimate I was given did not allow for some of the removal and subsequent required preparation for the work that needed to be done to install the kitchen cabinets. I told Joe about the mold issue and that the insurance adjuster did not acknowledge the mold. He explained that the insurance company would not pay for mold damage unless there was 10sq.ft. or more of mold. Joe assured me he could see evidence of more than 10sq.ft. of mold. However, that could not be proven until the cabinets were removed to reveal the actual extent of mold damage. Sani Effect Environmental Solutions removed the cabinets and discovered more than 10sq.ft. of mold. They were able to remediate the mold. Joe arranged another appointment with the field adjuster. As a result, and after multiple delays by the insurance company, they finally approved the mold claim and Joe was able to negotiate repair and replacements costs. Joe has been my savior. Without his expertise and his vast knowledge of the insurance industry, I would not have known that the insurance company had not included estimates for all the work that was necessary to be done, over and above the replacement of the cabinets, to make my home whole again. The list of detailed work is long and includes work that I never would have thought of. I would not have discovered it until after I had signed the release with the insurance company, and they would not pay anything else beyond that release. ANYTIME you have a claim for your home due to flood, hurricane, fire, etc., I would not do anything without contacting Joe first. I cannot stress this enough. The biggest lesson I have learned is that YOUR insurance company will tell you they are there for you. NOT TRUE!!!!! They are there to collect your premium, not to pay claims!!!!! Joe Connelly and RIA are there for you and only you. Many Many Thanks Joe!!! Nancy Burnopp

Recovery Insurance Adjusters was recommended by a friend in a similar situation as me. For the…read morefirst time in the history of the area a storm surge flooded every house causing significant damage to single story houses. I've experienced many hurricanes in the past, but none have necessitated evacuating my home due to food damage or other. Initially, we were in a very vulnerable state and ready to reach out for help. Unfortunately, people are ready to take advantage of people in this situation. RIA seemed like a reasonable company to deal with. I didn't dwell much on the contract which specified their fee of 10% of some amount to be determined. the initial payout from insurance was $30,000, so 10% seemed reasonable for the service provided by RIA. However, RIA provided little communication/advice after their initial involvement. I was resolved to communicate directly with my insurance company to answer questions and concerns. When a final payment was issued, RIA resumed communication and notified me that %10 of the total claim was due to them. There was no accountability of services provided, only an invoice. This was a significant grift, and a good example of being taken advantage of.
