You can even hunt in the area & stay in the lodge down below. If you're looking the lake from the top, I recommend you do not wear a hat because it was pretty windy, also don't get too close because the wind will blow you over! Be careful. Starting with the horses, there were many informative and entertaining exhibits, explaining the history and daily operations of the stud farm. The horse racing experience was also a lot of fun because it gave a firsthand experience of buying training, and racing. The staff were very welcoming and eager to answer questions. We had a very decent meal at the restaurant. On the garden side, we did not expect this to be much of anything however it is artistically crafted and engaging. It's hard to explain, but it's like strolling through a beautiful museum collection. Only this was entirely composed of nature.

Howth doesn't cut it, nor Dun Laoghaire, and Bray doesn't have the answer either. For me, the only Dublin beach that even goes halfway towards holding the answers to all of life's problems is Malahide. If you're lucky enough (go on a weekday!) you might even get the entire beach to yourself. There's nothing more enthralling than being alone with a vast expanse of beach infront of you, and being free to skip, dance, sing or scream, whatever floats your boat at the time. Malahide Beach is also good for a sit down. It offers a lovely vista out to Lambay Island, Howth and Island's Eye (depending on how far you walk, that is..) Also look on the ground.. there are some lovely shells for the finding if you look hard enough. From Malahide Beach you can take the coastal walk all the way to Portmarnock (but beware, it's 5km away so is no stroll through the park.) Malahide is definitely my pick of Dublin beaches.

Unfortunately no swimming on malahide beach due to dangerous tides.

Kiltorcan Raceway:…read more Our company booked a group Grand Prix session at Kiltorcan Raceway during September 2019. From start to finish everything and everyone at Kiltorcan Raceway was amazing and accommodating! The booking process was easy, on arrival the staff were extremely welcoming (there's also a seating area with pool table for use when waiting!). The way the race worked and all the rules of the Raceway were clearly explained and as it was a dull and rainy day we were offered protective jumpsuits and gloves to wear. Once we were all kitted out it was straight to the track! The karts were all ready and waiting for us and we were shown how to use them and had the opportunity to adjust the seating to our liking with a staff member. Once the practice laps and race were under way the staff were jotted around the track to be on hand should any karts spin out or hit the tyre walls. Once the race was over we had an award ceremony for the top three drivers as offered by the Raceway and they also accommodated our group bringing our own trophies for a longer award ceremony too! Altogether Kiltorcan Raceway was an absolutely brilliant activity for our staff day out! A really professional outfit with lovely and helpful staff I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who was looking for a group activity in the area!!

My wife and I were attending a wedding at this hotel. When we booked the wedding, we tried using…read morethe wedding party's group rate. The hotel made us book the first night outside of the group rate as a separate reservation with the subsequent 3 nights on the group rate and a different reservation number. Prices went from 520 to 375 and then up to 420 per night. Fortunately they didn't ask that we check out, leave and then check back in again. When were arrived at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, they told us check in time is 4:00 p.m. and our room wasn't ready yet. We saw many other people arrive after us, check in and go to their rooms. The bellhop had our luggage and was asking us constantly when we would be going to our room. We were initially told that we would have a room with a balcony. At 4:00 p.m, our room still wasn't ready. The desk clerk then said she has our room on floor 2 ready. I asked if floor 2 had the balcony we were promised. She said no and then brought the manager over. They were able to find me a room on floor 6 with a balcony and apologized for the delay. The room was very nice with a large walk-in shower and an oversized room with balcony. The fitness center is located on the lower floor and had plenty machines, treadmills and ellipticals. The Irish breakfast in the morning was great. Very nice buffet, but you can also order off a menu for additional cost. The buffet had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fried egg, pouched eggs with sauce, pancakes, smoked salmon, cheeses, fruits, cereals, juices, lunch meats, and pastries. The hotel had my Marriott Rewards number on file. I'm a lifetime Titanium member. I'm working with the hotel currently to find out why I never received my Marriott reward point, bonus points and credit for the hotel nights.

Spacious, well maintained and with in-and-outdoor riding rings, this is the place to go for introductions, refreshers or Olympic-grade riding lessons. Each grouping is managed well by centre staff and experienced students -watching a group of under-tens take their first few trots around an indoor ring, I was delighted by the positive encouragement of the instructor (and the high level of safety -lead holders for every horse waiting to help, protective vests and helmets all around... I don't remember all that in my horse camps!). Prices for adult instruction hover around the €30 mark. €32 for an assessment and a prepay 12 lesson package comes to about €27 per session. Kids Pony Play 40 minute sessions are just €20 and can be scheduled lesson by lesson - a great way to get a kid in the saddle without committing to more sessions than they might want. The centre isn't just for instruction though, and a brisk trade in horse-themed parties, day camps, shows and other horse-related activities. The community that's grown up around the venue is positively encouraged with canteen and cafe facilities, outdoor areas for picnics, plus an open and spotless livery barn where horses and ponies are stabled between riding sessions (and always appreciative of a well-mannered hello and gift of apples or hay). In better weather I'll be up here with boots and helmet on, till then I'll huddle on the sidelines!
