Just went for a 2 hour "falconry experience" today...had a ball, really enjoyed it all. We had a very much needed introduction on falconry, the different types of species and how they behave, just to that we wouldn't make fools out of ourselves, and then we were brought to a field, I have to say the area is beautiful, very scenic (oh don't mind the exact location on the map, I just put roughly where I remembered it was but the lads are very good at giving directions!) and we had a go at flying harris hawks...you've got to experience the thrill of seeing them flying so fast towards your hand (fitted with a thick glove and a piece of meat !) and just land precisely on it...it's just priceless. A little warning though that it is not for people sensitive with hunting as you will see small chicks (already dead though) being eaten for a small part of the experience... the young fellas that were in my group loved that part !
