Gyro Wrap Soooooooooo goooooooood
Erinn B.

First time here and will return soon. The gyro wrap was to die for. My son got the chicken nuggets and curly fries and loved all of it. At the end of the meal I decided to order another gyro wrap to-go. Delicious!! 10 out of 10

Came here for lunch from a suggestion off local community members and wow it did NOT disappoint!! The food is fresh and DELICIOUS! I ordered the Gyro platter and was given the option of spicy so of course I said yes. Now, to be fair, I have a high tolerance for spice. I think the spice added was only a slight kick, but SOOOOOO good nonetheless. The platter comes with a side salad, hummus and pita which were all equally good. The pita was fluffy. The hummus was creamy. The salad was refreshing. The rice was buttery and flavorful. It's a cozy little spot, parking can be a little tough. They had a case of desserts that I want to try next time! I used a food delivery service to try their beef kebab the following day and again, the spices and herbs used were amazing! The meat wasn't as tender as I hoped it would be, but again - definitely wasn't disappointed and I will keep coming back to this place to get my kebab and gyro fix! Don't go to the commercial places - trust me and go here!

Gyro Wrap, lots of meat!

Great to-go gyro spot. They really load on the meats on anything you order and their falafel is delicious. Service is quick and the staff is pretty nice. I've only ever gotten take out since there is not a lot of seating, but the store is right next to todos santos plaza if you want to have a nice picnic!

Gyro platter. Everything was delicious but the cost didn't match the amount of food served.

I stopped by for lunch this afternoon and ordered a combo platter and a side of fries to go. Since there wasn't a line, my food was ready in about five minutes. Between my wife and I, this ended up being the perfect amount of food. Neither the chicken nor the lamb were dry. The included piece of pita bread was warm and fluffy and the humus had a nice consistency to it. Rice was cooked perfectly at dente too, and the extra sauce on the side was a nice addition if you wanted to add a little extra tang to the dish. I would definitely stop by again! Don't forget to grab utensils and napkins on the counter for your to go order as they're not included in the bag.

My dad wanted to eat something on the Mediterranean side, and I remember this place being nearby. I have eaten here once before, but this is my first time coming here post Covid. I was the only one there, so service was not too bad. I was able to place my order and receive my food rather quickly. Gyro Wrap Meal: About $18 for the wrap and fries and soda (after tax) so price wise is not too bad. I got it spicy and man did it kick quite the lunch. It was a bit on the oily side but overall, it was delicious. They really picked the veggies and gyro meat in this wrap, so I felt satiated after eating it all. The yogurt sauce did help tame the spiciness level I encountered in this. The fries were pretty standard, although a bit overdone since it was dry. Still, the entire meal was satisfying to my taste. Overall, I can see myself coming back here again.

It was pretty good. I got the falafel wrap. I was solid, i would order it again. It was pretty pricy for waht you get. I know everything has gotten expensive, but i was still hungry when done for a $12 pita with a few falafels

Good stuff as for mediterranean food choice. Well, cooked jasmine rice and falafel platter as the bedding for juicy, soft, full of flavor falafel on top. Enjoyed the atmosphere and great customer service to accompany it. Excellent desert selection. Could add a little more authentic sauces and authentic drinks. Will be back to try more deliciousness.

To keep it short…read more.. Excellent food. Excellent service. Gluten free options. I will definitely make sure to visit again when I'm in town. -------------- If you want to read my story of how and why I tried this place, read more here: I walked by this place while my car was getting an oil change. They had a sign that said in big letters, "HUNGRY? We can fix that!" Like Winnie the Pooh, I checked in with my stomach and answered yes! I was famished. I had brought my lunch with me but left it in the car while it was getting the oil changed, so I had nothing to nibble on. It was kind of early, maybe 10 AM, and I didn't even think they would be open, but then I realized they did have the sign outside on the sidewalk. I walked by the front door and it opened automatically. My heart started to flutter. So I went to look at their menu online and saw that they had chicken shawarma bowls. I love chicken shawarma. I decided to look them up on Yelp and make sure they had good reviews. I realized that they were a sponsored ad, and that gave me pause. The last time I went to a Middle Eastern restaurant that was sponsored, it was not so great, so I quickly checked the reviews. They have pretty good reviews! One review said that the chicken was dry, but others were more positive. I had a really good feeling, so I ordered it. Another reviewer commented that the rice was so good -- and they're not normally a rice enthusiast -- so when I placed my order, I upgraded my rice from the white rice that comes with the order to the rice infused with turmeric and garbanzo beans. When I opened my order, the bowl was a pretty decent size. If my husband had been with me, we probably would've been able to split it. In my order, I saw: * Seasoned chicken drizzled with shawarma and a delicious white sauce. * Hummus * Tomato cucumber salad * And this yellow turmeric rice I couldn't resist -- the rice was the first thing I tasted, and it was delicious! I can't quite figure out what flavors are in there, but I could taste a hint of cinnamon, and there were definitely other flavors there. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The hummus could very easily be the best hummus I've ever had. I really enjoyed this meal. I really wanted to eat the entire bowl myself but decided to save half of it for my daughter, who I know will also love it. Customer service was excellent. Adam was at the counter and greeted me very warmly. And when I was leaving, they asked me if I wanted hot sauce and then they put that in the bag. Overall, I give this five stars. I love that the food comes in an eco-friendly container. If there's anything that I could change, it's probably that they put it in a plastic bag instead of a paper bag. I try to avoid plastic as much as possible, but the container was quite big and needed to be in a bag while I hiked back to the oil change place. Oh, and before I forget... one of the first things I asked before I ordered is if the shawarma plate was gluten-free, and he assured me that everything in it was unless I was getting pita. And one more fun note -- when I got back to the car place, someone walked in, saw my food, and immediately asked, "Oh, is that from Manakish?" I was pretty impressed they could recognize it just by the look, especially since the restaurant is about half a mile away. Oh...and when i gave it to my daughter...she loved it so it gets two thumbs up!!

Our most recent kabob was made up of low quality cuts of extremely thick slices of steak that were almost inedible. The fries were bland outside of the paprika they were dusted with. For a price tag of over $30 it was of such poor quality that we decided it was our last visit to Manakish. We'd rather pay more for higher quality food than throw the meal away because it's simply not good.

I'm not an authority on Afghan food so this is rated as an outsider…read more Overall the food can be summarized as: lightly seasoned, enjoy the simple flavors of each component, and Must use the sauces to complete the dish. I personally think everything needed some salt, but maybe it's meant to be this way. Highlight is most definitely the green sauce (yogurt and chili, not spicy), baklava (sweet sticky on the bottom and flaky crisp on top, not overly sweet), yogurt mint drink (dough). Shami beef and chicken kebab were juicy and not dry. Through a bit of miscommunication.. I was given the yogurt drink instead of the normal side of yogurt cucumber sauce for the meat, and was warned by Ali that some people don't like it since it's a yogurt drink with salt, but honestly it was great and was essentially a yogurt mint sauce I expect from other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern type places but more watery. So admittedly I just took sips of this while taking bites of the kebab and rice and it was pretty much the flavors I was looking for, but an extra step. Beef Mantu was another source of confusion since there are regular and homemade versions (I didn't realize). They made me the homemade version without confirming with me on the phone; no problem. It was filled with lightly seasoned beef and topped with interesting spices. Overall not bad not great, definitely needs sauce / salt. Too light in my opinion. And for $25 I wouldn't get again not worth it. The customer service from Ali was great. Knowing this was my first time he explained everything, offered to charge me less due to the miscommunications (I declined), and gave complimentary side of sauce and baklava as a nice gesture. Good food. I know how to order next time. Extra green sauce or yogurt drink all over.

Service was pleasant, and we received enough attention throughout the meal course. Great, open seating with the view on the Monument Boulevard, that was bright and comfortable. The outstanding Afghani food, and even better the desserts with saffron tea made this experience complete throughout. Would highly recommend Narunj Palow with thinly sliced dates. Turned out to be a little bit pricier than I thought it would be for a lunch, however, it really did worth it.

I was craving some lamb gyro, and the best that I've had is from Q's halal in Alameda. Walked into…read morethis place because Alameda is too much of a trek just for the gyro. I got exactly that - asked for a spicy lamb gyro wrap. The freshly made warm gyro wrap was just ok, and was also unfortunately very salty (probably an off-day). I still prefer the lamb gyros from Q's. For dessert, I asked for the pistachio borma. It was good, but I could tell that it wasn't fresh. Falafels were on-point. On a second visit wanting a lighter meal, I decided to only get the salads, and the dolmas. The salads here are really good. Too bad, most people don't seem to check those out. The tabouleh had the right amount of tanginess, bite and really the best that I've ever had (and I typically dislike tabouleh). The Mujaddara salad was equally tasty. Loved their dolmas which weren't crazy tangy like most other places. Same with the hummus. Their hummus version is the best that I've had in the recent past. Ambiance is fine for a sit-down meal as well (although this is only a small hole-in-the-wall place), and service was quick and efficient. My gyro craving remains unfulfilled, and this place did not deliver. But Babalou's does the salads really well and I'll go back just for the salads.
