Nice business hotel in Brno. Did not stay here, but had dinner with a group in the restaurant. Good food, friendly staff.

The facility exhibits many vintage architectural features. The rooms are great, the staff are polite and breakfast is well presented in a pleasant dining room. The room rates are not bad making this an attractive option when visiting this lovely city. I chose this place for my free day in Brno because I needed a hotel within easy reach of the train station and the sites of interest. I was given a Superior Room and was rather impressed with it. It was spacious and clean with a nice sitting area that featured a comfortable sofa. The work area was decently configured and the average-sized flat screen TV was fine for me. The WiFi functioned well during my stay. The bathroom was also quite sufficient with respect to space and allowed easy maneuvering. The view from my room overlooked the street and was pleasant. The Queen bed was comfortable and the environs were quiet which allowed me to get good sleep. The breakfast offering was terrific. The dining room was lovely and created a pleasant environment in which to enjoy a quiet morning meal. The buffet itself was quite complete with several hot offerings as well as the expected cold items. The pastries were particularly noteworthy, especially the chocolate banana bread. The room rates were more than reasonable from my perspective. My final bill, with breakfast included, was Kč 2893, or about €107. I was very happy with this value. In general, this is a terrific hotel choice. The location is ideal, the rooms are comfortable and the breakfast offering is beyond adequate. The room rates are quite reasonable for what one gets making this place a good deal. All of this adds together to make this a good choice for a stay in Brno.

Upon entering the lobby, it has high stained glass ceilings with marble floors. Although the lobby feels spacious, it is actually somewhat small. Getting to the room was somewhat like going through the maze in The Shining. There was a fire extinguisher right outside of the room, which did not get in the way, but was helpful in case of fire. Upon entering the room, there is a short hallway that turns to the right and opens up to the room. The room is actually fairly spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is located on the left. There is a single sink with very limited counter space. There was Pascal Moribito bath products, which did the job but was nothing high end. There is a shower/tub combo with the dreaded half shower door. The water pressure was good, but the tub was slightly narrow. The toilet was wedged between the shower and sink. Strangely, there was no Kleenex in the bathroom, or the entire room for that matter. There is also a towel warmer in the bathroom, which can also serve as a towel rack. Making a left when coming out of the bathroom is the desk and TV. The desk is fairly narrow, but plenty wide. To the right when coming out of the bathroom are two double closets which provide a lot of storage space. Two bathrobes, and a safe are also located within the closet. There are two chairs with a round table to the right of the desk. The chairs were in a similar pattern as the carpet, and was almost camouflaged into the carpet. Much like Andaz properties, everything in the mini-bar was free, including the acohol and was replaced daily. The bed was comfortable, and had plenty of space around the bed in which to maneuver. It should be noted that there are only blinds in rooms on the fifth floor, which makes the room very bright. You can also hear the trains/trams and church bells from the Hotel Grandezza. The Hotel Grandezza is conveniently located to the train station, and being near the historic center means being close to restaurants and shops.

The nearest tram station is a good 5-10 minute walk so not convenient if having a lot of luggage. The hotel is located next to the Exhibition Center. The hotel is in a rather secluded area, as there is not much in the way of restaurants or other businesses in the immediate area other than the Exhibition Center. There is a kart racing center across the street. Upon entering the hotel, the lobby is open and has a spacious feel even though it is not very large. Check-in was quick and easy. We were informed that the hotel does offer a complimentary shuttle into the City Centre. Upon entering the room, the bathroom is located directly to the right. The bathroom is somewhat small. There is a single sink with very limited counter space. There is a shower/tub combo with the dreaded partial glass shower door. The bathtub was very narrow, and just standing in the tub was like performing a circus act. The thing I don't like about these doors is that water tends to splash all over the place with most of it landing on the floor. In addition, the open shower lets all of the heat out so you end up taking a semi-cold shower. The towels were also paper thin and felt like sandpaper. The toilet is wedged tightly between the shower and sink. Directly across from the bathroom is the closet, which is fairly spacious. There are a couple of extra pillows, the safe, a pair of slippers and laundry bag. Next to the closet is the coffee maker, ice bucket and glasses. The beds were somewhat firm and uneven, and not the most comfortable bed that I have slept in. Next to the far bed is a couple of chairs with a small table. The desk is long with a good amount of working space. To the left of the desk is a luggage rack, while the TV sits to the right of the desk. The complimentary shuttle is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The shuttle is usually prompt. Signs are posted at the entrance of the hotel, which is where the shuttle can be taken. I was given a map of the pick-up area in the City Centre, but the map is somewhat difficult to decipher if not familiar with the area. The pick-up area is in front of Forman Beef and Beer restaurant. I would recommend the Holiday Inn Brno if you needed to be next to the Exhibition Center, was staying there for a promotion or for a Points Break stay. Otherwise, there are hotels near the City Centre where there are a lot more restaurants, shopping and grocery stores.
