I liked Fairfield, ok it wasn't the best school out there but the choir was really good fun, we even went to the Czech Republic years before all the stag parties got there. Mrs W won 'teacher of the year' for the work she did, the school ended up 'a specialist college in the performing arts' sad that it's getting knocked down to build more houses And although I too haven't been a pupil for a good few years I have been back to watch productions and even attended Mrs W leaving do, which was a testament to the number of pupils she influenced over the years, one of my friends in particular had never even picked up a musical instrument until being at high school, she now has a masters from the Royal Northern and not only teachers but composes and has just taken on a rather high profile commission, another girl I know has gone on to do Drama in Strafford and is currently producing a version of A Midsummer's Night's Dream at the Edinburgh Festival, not to mention that chap who got into RADA read more

Okay, Fairfield wasn't a good school really but it was what you made of it. One of the good things that fairfield has taught me is to be independent and not to be spoon-fed information, which meant that when we all got to college, 5 out of the top 10 people in our year had attended Fairfield, all getting 4 As at A Levels or higher (myself included!). The ones who went to other schools and got higher GCSEs never actually seemed to do as well or be as independent. This review may be a touch out of date. I haven't been back here in 12 years. But, really Fairfield wasn't exactly the best school you could imagine. They didn't even have a drumkit - which is surely the main reason I'm working in tech now instead of being a rock star. Damn. read more
