We recently made this hotel our residence for a week when our own home was uninhabitable after a electrical event. We checked in on a Friday night before Memorial Day and the place was packed. There were a number of youth baseball players and families, plant workers, and other visitors in town for the holiday weekend. The staff was extremely helpful with check-in and we were provided a room near the lobby and amenities like the indoor pool and fitness facility. The room was decent sized and well air conditioned, which was our main need for our lodgings. The breakfast provided every morning was quite ample, with a waffle maker, hot foods like eggs, bacon, and sausage, fresh fruits, yogurts, and the other items you'd expect. The title of my review says it all: we were here for a week. The staff were extremely accommodating of our extended stay and each and every encounter with them was pleasant. From a service perspective, they were top notch. Thanks again to the Fairfield Inn in Sulphur for giving us a cool, clean room during a hot season in Lake Charles, Louisiana. read more

Avoid this place. Non-responsive and safety issues. Checked in on 9/20/2026 and was placed in Room 115, a handicap-accessible room, in genuinely unsafe condition. The entry door was hung too tight and wouldn't close or latch without force. The window had a crack running its entire length, sharp enough to cut skin. Door peepholes were stuffed with tissue, never cleared by housekeeping. Bed linens had hair and stains on them when I pulled back the covers. Bathroom had hair on the walls, burned-out lights, and a tub stained with rust and mold. Curtains had stains that appeared to be blood. Outside the room: the elevator and ice machine were both out of service, lobby windows had failed seals with algae growing in the glass, and a support post in the driveway had clearly been struck by a vehicle, raising real concern about the entrance overhang it's meant to support. Worst of all was the parking lot lighting. After dusk, the entire perimeter of the property past the driveway was completely dark -- one light pole was down entirely, lying in the front field. Walking to my vehicle, I could not see other cars or potential trip hazards. For any guest, especially anyone with mobility limitations, this is a real safety issue, not just an inconvenience. The one bright spot was a front desk associate named Giovanni Beltran, who was professional, courteous, and moved me to another room once he saw the state of 115. He is clearly an asset this property doesn't deserve. I submitted a detailed complaint with photos, and have been trying to get this addressed for over three weeks (case #937XXX). I was told I'd receive a callback -- never happened. I emailed the property's GM directly -- no response. I called back and sat on hold, was offered 20,000 points to simply close the case, asked for a refund instead since that had been mentioned on an earlier call, and asked for a manager. Still no resolution. A follow-up email I received was a generic "sorry you had a bad stay" with no offer to actually address anything. As of today, I'm on hold again, still waiting for a callback that was promised for Friday 10/10 and never came. It has been claimed that the hotel is either under renovations or just completed renovations - NOTHING CAN BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. read more

Good enough accommodations. Friendly people. Expect at least 3 things to be broken or wrong during your stay! We were able to use points to book two rooms here. One room had a bathroom that wouldn't lock and a rusty bathtub drain. The other had the front door hanging off the hinges so you had to finagle it to get it to shut properly. The toaster in the breakfast area had 4 slots for bread but only 2 worked. However, the staff was very nice and friendly and we had a good nights sleep. read more

We had 3 bus loads of 4th graders and parents on a school trip. Over 20 of our room keys did not work. Some Rooms didn't have towels in them. AC didn't work in a few rooms Some of the floors were dirty. One room even had the tv on the wall with a cracked screen that wouldn't turn on. Would not recommend staying here. read more

This one star rating is only because I couldn't pick zero! This place is in super need of renovation and repair. For a Marriott hotel, it's extremely subpar. It feels and smells old. The floors are uneven. The elevator is rickety and about the size of a broom closet. Marriott should be ashamed! I really need Prien Lake in Lake Charles to get their pricing back together, because this ain't it. At best, these rooms should not exceed $60/nt. read more

This is beautiful hotel; I was pleasantly surprised! Earlier this year, it had been completely renovated. It's one second off I-10, on what seems to be a main road. But, it sits back far with a lot of trees so you don't hear any street noise. There are a couple restaurants and stuff around, specifically a Pizza Hut within walking distance. The best part of this hotel is its staff. The girl who checked me in, Jacqueline, was very welcoming. The young lady in the breakfast room, Summer, was also delightful. I don't believe I have ever stayed in a place with such a nice staff. Employees such as this are an asset to the Marriott Corporation. My room was very big with a comfy king sized bed. There was a frig, microwave, and work desk. There was free wi-fi, an indoor pool (which I never use) and a gym (which I really never use). I found my room super clean and fresh; the bed was soooo inviting! (Look at the photo of the bed, you'll see what I mean - I liked this type of bedding.) On my Marriott profile, I have a special request listed, which was granted - I appreciate that. Very good (free) breakfast in the mornings. All the standard good eats; bagels, muffins, waffles, hard-boiled eggs, and some microwave-type sandwiches. This breakfast was better than most, and, again, the girl working in the breakfast area was wonderful. Besides being so nice, she always keep the place well-stocked and clean. Oh, and there is a dehumidifier in the room. It makes a humming sound, which didn't bother me, and you can always turn it off. During my stay, the humidity was 100% in Louisiana, so I WELCOMED that humidifier. I was torn between staying here and Lafayette - I am so glad I chose here - I would stay here again. read more

Stop the lies, charging full rate removing chairs, breakfast and finally removing coffee makers from all rooms in the guise of covid. The staff are so helpful, unfortunately, this is a greedy owner. Rates are 165/ night Coffee makers are removed from the rooms. No breakfast and furniture removed beds only in my room. I was in Little Rock two nights ago 98 a night all services available. breakfast coffee makers etc. available. In Dallas three days ago the same 112 a night. In California, the most shutdown state....134 nights and all service available, breakfast was in bags....coffee makers were not removed. Marriot has basic standards coffee makers have been a standard since the late '80s. I was in Marriott Corp in the eighties, this hotel is violating their franchise agreement. BTW Hurricanes have been gone for a few weeks. In case the hotel uses that as an a excuse. read more

We stay at all Marriott hotels ball the time, this had to be the worst of the worst. I understand they went through a hurricane last year but please I was on the second floor. The money I paid for this room I could of stayed at the Golden Nugget casino with a balcony room overlooking the pool. This room was probably only worth $50 even at that. The room had lamented floors and the room was so humid. When I went to lay down the pillows and sheets felt like they were wet. I couldn't sleep most of the night because the room was so humid. It looked like a room you would find is a cheap motel. I am truly upset with Marriott. I'll make sure they know this also. I will never stay at this hotel again. Maybe I need to stay in something other than Marriott. I have lost all respect for them. I had to give 1 star I really would of left no stars but you have to give something. Could not believe this place. The elevator looks like it came from the 1950,s the hallways had torn carpet and it looked shabby and old. Stay away from this place, go on down to the next town you may find a better hotel. I will definitely let Marriott know something. The spending the night conditions were fantastic. The 4 star is hindered by the plumbing issues they had in my room and hinted by staff in other rooms as well. Toilets were extremely low pressure and clogged. I blamed it on swampland. Also, the breakfast set up with clean but, the sausage patties tasted very cheap but, for a free breakfast what do you expect? One of the worst hotels I've been too. My first visit they gave me a dirty room. For my second visit no one was at the front desk for 20 minutes. For breakfast they had only bread unlike my first visit. This hotel has very poor management and customer service. read more

This hotel is not awesome. Normally, east of California most Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott are descent. This one is a page out of 1987 before all of the smaller hotels began to upgrade. Let's start with the staff, very pleasant and helpful (except one team member who worked at the the front desk, appeared not to like her job). The one exception did not greet us when we returned and frankly, didn't speak at all. Next, are the facilities. The beds were very firm (almost too firm) but lacked coverings. You were giving one fitted sheet (which was not put fully on the bed), one flat sheet, a paper thin comforter and a duvet type cover. I was chilly throughout the evening but didn't feel comfortable asking for more. The furniture was worn as per my pictures and dirty. The drawers in the dresser kept opening every time someone walked across the room. There is also a dehumidifier from circa 1990 and is terribly loud and funky smelling when turned on. Lastly, was the cleanliness or lack there of. As a traveler, there is certain level of dust and dirt that I expect to see, however, this place almost called for an exit. There was visible dust on the walls and furniture and the shower looked uncleaned. Needless to say, this facility needs new management or a cleaning service. If you have a choice stay somewhere else. Stopped here spur of the moment to extend our vacation one or two more nights. We went swimming at first then went to dinner. When we returned to pur room to rest there was overwhelming mildew smell that we tried ignoring but after awhile my kids and I, who are asthmatic, had a hard time breathing. When we talked to the front office staff they were not very helpful and so we took the loss and left. We decided to drive all the way back to Houston that night becaise it was better than dealing with horrible staff members and a foul smell. read more

If you have a choice... don't stay here. While the hotel looks clean and neat, the hotel has a musty odor that doesn't dissipate. This is a high humidity area and each room has a humidifier. The noise of the humidifier and the separate air conditioning unit cycling on and off made sleep almost impossible (and I can sleep anywhere). When you add in the dripping noise from the humidifier, I just couldn't sleep. I finally gave up at 3AM and checked out and got back on the road for my next stop. I informed the night manager of my reason for leaving but there wasn't anything that she could do at that point as all the rooms have the same configuration. I'm sorry that I'm writing a negative review on a Marriott hotel as I've always been pleased with my accommodations. I'll continue to stay within the Marriott hotel chains but I'll keep driving the next time I'm going through Sulphur, LA. read more

Worst Fairfield I've ever stayed at. Needs a renovation badly. Not worth what was charged. Air quality in the rooms can't be good. AC unit is so old that they run a separate noisy dehumidifier. Searched the dehumidifier online, it was made in 2005 and is discontinued. There's no filter at all on the dehumidifier. AC vent is disgusting, full of black rock looking stuff. Pulled the filter and it's falling apart. Clear that no one maintains the unit at all. Turned them both off. Also my chair was stained. Lastly, they charge $20 fee that gets refunded, not sure why. read more

We got there late at night and desk clerk did not understand 3rd party checkins She could not get a key to work so had to unlock one of our rooms for us. Kinda made us nervous. Stayed here for over 2 mnths for work. I would say avoid this crap hole. First they hold an extra 20 a night for incidentals. No other hotel does that. I payed with a card so if i srewed anything up they could charge me. Then it took 3 weeks to free up the 80 they held. Doors onyour room dont work half the time. When it rains water floods into the indoor pool its so trashy. Breakfast will give you the runs. They forget to clean your room sometimes. By far the worst i have ever staued in read more

Hotel is nice on exterior, and front lobby is updated, but the rooms look like early 80's . Old Tv, old furniture, gross bathroom. Pictures on their website are misleading. I recommend new Holiday Inn across the street to the west. New and clean for same price. This should be a $60 per night hotel instead of $95. read more

I booked a room through priceline after being forced to get off I-10 due to bad weather and the sight of a funnel cloud. It is right off the interstate, but it was a little difficult for me to find. I called the hotel and they gave me directions. The night manager, Sarah, was friendly and checked me in quickly. The room has a dehumidifier which made me happy for vanity reasons (HAIR). The room was tidy and spacious. The hotel was quiet and the temperature was just right for me. I did not take advantage of the fitness area or pool, but they were accessible and appropriate for the hotel. The breakfast was continental, but included patty sausage and eggs. Don't look for a waffle iron, but the dining attendant is so sweet that you won't even care about the darn waffle. I'm giving it three stars because the bathroom could have been cleaner by mopping floor and removing hair. The iron board was broken, too. Other than that, this place was pretty great and I felt safe as a single lady traveling solo. read more
