Stayed here when took a trip to Liberty Univ (CFAW in March) with our son to see if it was an option for him. Had to have a place that allowed our golden retriever to stay with us. The #1 best thing about this hotel is that it's within walking distance to campus. Have to cross a busy street, but it was very manageable and not having to deal with parking at CFAW was a bonus. Nothing spectacular, but clean. Front desk folks were nice enough at check-in. Had extra towels when we needed them. My only complaint is that you get bamboozled on price for popular LU events, but that's seemingly city-wide. (Not far from $1000 for 3 nights. Ouch.) Room for improvement - make a fenced area for dogs to do their thing, maybe with a bench under a shade/rain shelter for 2-legged guests. We'll come back. read more

Do not expect to check in to a room you have reserved at this hotel, even if you arrive after the 3pm check in time. You will find the front desk staff to be not only full of excuses for this property team's total incompetence (did Liberty's graduation catch them by surprise?), but also brimming with completely useless suggestions (do you have somewhere you can go?). Fairfield Inn & Suites - Lynchburg, VA Stayed: August 13-15, 2025 (3 out of 5) My husband and I stayed at Fairfield Inn during move-in week for Liberty University, and we were really excited for this trip. I specifically chose this hotel because it's right on campus--and our room actually overlooked LU! It was such a special touch. Waking up to that view made our stay feel extra meaningful. I'm seriously hoping when we return in October, we can get a top-floor room so we can soak in even more of that incredible campus. I have to give a huge thank you to the evening staff--especially the young woman working while we were there. I didn't catch her name, but she was so kind, helpful, and truly went above and beyond. Sadly, she got a cut on her forehead that night, and we've been praying she's okay. Her kindness stood out, especially compared to the daytime staff, who were polite, but not nearly as warm or helpful. She made a real difference in our experience. Also, the indoor pool? AMAZING. It's large, super clean, and has plenty of seating--perfect for families or anyone wanting to relax. The fact that it's indoors makes it a great year-round option. Loved it! ‍ One suggestion: it would be awesome if they added a hot tub to the pool area! That would really take the relaxation to the next level. I will say--the room was very clean and nicely put together when we arrived the first night, which we appreciated. It felt fresh, tidy, and welcoming, and really set a great tone for the start of our stay. Now, here's why I'm only giving 3 stars: there was ZERO housekeeping during our entire stay. No fresh towels, no made bed, and not even a refill on the in-room coffee. When we asked, we were told it's because the hotel is still under COVID-19 restrictions... FIVE YEARS later. I'm sorry, but that's not health safety anymore--that's just laziness and outdated policy. Guests deserve better. Either resume normal housekeeping or offer a discount to those of us who still expect basic services when paying full price. It's beyond frustrating. Also--small thing, but it made a difference--the laundry room really needs a change dispenser and some soap available for purchase. It would have made washing clothes so much easier and less of a hassle. Definitely something they should consider adding for guest convenience. This hotel has so much potential--perfect location, great amenities, and one amazing staff member who made us feel truly welcome. But until they fix the service side of things, it's hard to fully recommend. We'll likely stay again for the view and the campus access, but I truly hope they step it up by October. read more

From check-in to check-out the Fairfield Inn really had their act together. It's been years since I've stayed at the brand. I was very pleasantly surprised in a positive way. The location is just above Liberty University and sits prominently on a hill. When I pulled in their spacious lot that free of charge a beautiful sunset was setting. My check-in was incredibly friendly. The woman who assisted me was around my entire stay and remembered my name and assisted me with directions and minor items during my four day stay. The lobby was clean and had comfortable chairs inside the door. Computers are available to guest. A large breakfast bar was tidy in the afternoon. I did utilize the Free breakfast and it was above average and staffed. The king size room was prepared for my arrival and had proper supplies in the bathroom.,climate control worked well and was comfortable. The room also had adequate plugins for technology. House keeping did a great job each day. My only issue was with the pool which is actually very nice. However the aluminum structure had mold all over it at the base. I notified staff on day one, but it was still not addressed prior to checkout. My check-out was smooth and a paper invoice generated at my request. I hope to return to this hotel in the Spring. 4.5 rounding down due to pool maintenance. read more

Love staying at the Fairfield when visiting Liberty. Always clean, and the staff is attentive, polite, and accommodating. The location is perfect, as it is directly across the street from LU, as well as numerous shops and restaurants. The pool is always clean and clear, and multiple seating areas (with a fire pit) give you ample choices of places to hang out and relax. Always enjoyable! read more

I have 2 perspectives for this review. First, I booked through Liberty for my Intensive week and then applied my Bonvoy number at check in. I turned down the first room I was given as the shower was dirty and there was an intense mildew smell in the bathroom. Staff apologized and provided a different room, a handicapped room was the only one available. Current room had a smell of old food and the bathroom smelled moldy. Black stains on the shower curtain. One of the bedside lamps didn't work. The floor was so noisy with all the high school teams staying. Full breakfast was only provided 3 out of 5 days as something was always out. Dinner provided was chicken and pasta or rice in take out containers to be heated in room microwaves. 100% not worth the amount of money of the Intensive package. As a Titanium member, I won't stay again. Between my room, the noise level, breakfast provided...it was disappointing. Also, there is only one light by the vanity in the bathroom. The good: the front desk staff was always so kind, and provided an additional blanket and towels when I asked them. They always provided a greeting and "welcome back". AMAZING stay here for a long weekend visiting family who lives near by. The customer service at this hotel is unparalleled. Ari greeted us when we arrived on Saturday night and was super kind and helpful! She was personable and told us all about the hotel to include a HEATED POOL! Incredible by the way! Also she helped us select our to go breakfast for the next morning that we selected and was packed and ready for us to grab the next morning. Quite a few options and plenty of food as well! She also let me know that I could use the conference room the and to tell the day time team members Ari said it was okay:) The next morning Summer helped me with the conference room and our to go breakfast! Summer is extremely helpful and oh so kind as well. She went over and above to make sure I was able to get into the conference room and connect to the wifi which was perfect!! Having previously worked in the hospitality industry, I know what it's like to be busy on a holiday weekend. JULIE was the kindest, most attentive hotel personnel from the beginning to the end of my stay. She worked the front desk, assisted with my reservation, and made sure all my requests were met, no matter how big or small. Clean facility, courteous staff. Pretty average experience. Parking lot is kind of wonky - drive doesn't go all the way around the building ... unusually easy to end up back on the 55mph highway. In Time of Corona, mediocre hotel breakfast has morphed into "brown bag full of junk food." Stayed in this hotel the weekend of Nov 18-20, 2022. This is perhaps the best Fairfield Inn I have ever stayed in. I found the facility to be very clean. The carpets looked fresh and the room was immaculate. Pair the facility with a great staff that is attentive and very pleasant, you have a winning combination. I travel a good deal and stay in both Marriott and Hilton facilities of all price points. For the price, this is a great facility. read more

Do you enjoy sleeping on pillows that you have to double up or scrunch up? Do you enjoy sleeping on a hard, thinner mattress? How about hearing this annoying "swooshing" noise off and on ALL NIGHT LONG?? If you do this is the hotel for you. This seems to be the theme with Fairfield Bonvoy from Marriott. Breakfast is subpar. They didn't even have bananas or apples. I asked my husband to please stop making reservations at Fairfield Inn. Vibes were very off at this hotel . Shower drain was clogged which meant a pleasant evening shower as the tub filled with my own piss water, very disgusting. As well the "fixed" shower head was actually not fixed in place; I could literally just yank it off if I wanted to (and I came close on accident). Overall things felt cheap and very dirty. Breakfast was underwhelming. It felt like the place was run by lizard people as well. I'm not coming back. read more

When I first arrived in Lynchburg to go to liberty University law school this is the hotel that I checked into. I loved my stay. Everyone at the hotel is so sweet and friendly and helpful. It really made my introduction to the community a good one. In the morning when I would come down to continental breakfast I was surrounded by liberty students and parents of students. Everyone was so friendly, with big smiles and warm greetings. The front desk staff was more than helpful and went above and beyond to make sure that my every need is met. By the second day they all knew me by my name and even the housekeeping staff was just as sweet as they could be. The breakfast was good and it was fresh, as was the coffee all day long. When family and friends come into town, if they don't stay with me, I will be referring them to the Fairfield. Also, FYI, the walk or the jog down to liberty from the hotel is a nice one and it is very safe even though there is not a sidewalk. read more

I have stayed here a number of times. It has really gone downhill since it was the Wingate. There are not enough staff to manage things. This even though the hotel was not very full. I stayed for six days and several times housekeeping did not clean my room. The pool has a leak in its ceiling so that cold rain drips in on you. There are a lot of rowdy kids who use the pool so you can't really do laps unless you swim at 6am or 10pm. Breakfast is fair but not great. My room smelled musty. read more

We visited this hotel again. Not because we wanted to, but because our family chose it AGAIN for our family reunion. This experience was totally different in a good way. Hotel room was clean upon arrival this time. And (so as not to have a repeat bad experience) when we left the room the next morning (at around the same time), we took no chances. We made sure to notify the housekeepers that were still cleaning on our floor that we were leaving and wanted our room cleaned. It worked. No issues this time. Whew! read more

Stayed here during the time I was visiting Lynchburg for my son's graduation. Getting to the hotel was a bit of a challenge since the hotel is changing brands from the Wingate by Wyndham to the Fairfield Inn and the signage is not yet in place nor is there any temporary signage to direct you to the hotel. Once we arrived, the hotel front desk was friendly and accommodating and we were checked in and inside our rooms in minutes. As we settled into the room, there was a mishap with a clogged toilet that was quickly and cheerfully resolved by hotel maintenance. The room was clean and fresh with new furnishings, comfortable beds and immaculate surroundings. Whether your stay is business or leisure, the hotel offers plenty of amenities to make your stay comfortable to include a continental breakfast, pool, gym and business center. You can be assured you will be treated well during your stay. read more

The kindest front desk staff I have ever witnessed. The place was immaculate and the rooms were very comfortable!

I ended up at your hotel as a result of attending one of Liberty University's week-long intensives. The stay was great up until our check out day when my group needed to record a couple 15-min. counseling sessions. We were told we could utilize the public spaces which was great. We went to the pool area where, for the most part, we were undisturbed. During our last session, however, the maintenance guy kept passing in and out of the pool area, slamming the door, making tons of noise and causing loads of distractions. It was obvious that we were recording and working on a project and it was obvious that he noticed us as we had his attention during each and every disturbance. This is not the service I've come to expect from Marriott's "my pleasure" standards. This incident turned a week-long positive experience into a negative one. read more

This second time staying here, we reserved a two queen bed room, and they gave our room away before we checked in. We even called to verify our reservation days before.
