Delicious donuts and good variety, but same complaint as other people, the owner is so rude. Not the thing I needed at 8:30 in the morning without any coffee....or ever. Came here with my daughter to get donuts holes for her teachers for teacher appreciation week. I asked for two dozen donuts holes in two boxes, pretty simple. But we were told what a bad idea it was to put 12 donuts holes in a box that is big enough for half a dozen donuts because she didn't have smaller boxes. Then she found some clear to-go type of boxes and said that she was going to charge us more for it. She was also very annoyed when we asked about what some of the glazes were. Bottom line is good donuts if you don't mind getting yelled at by a grumpy Chinese lady. I already get yelled at by a Chinese lady (my mom) at home, so i really don't see any need to come here for that. read more

I just moved to the area and I wanted a donut this morning. I followed the Yelp reviews and I must say, they are spot on. The donuts are okay. Not the best I've ever had, actually I would equate them closely to your common run of the mill donut. I had a maple bar and raspberry creme filled. My friend had the creme filled and said it was okay. Anyway, the reviews on customer service are absolutely correct. When I walked in, the owner was friendly, which I thought, oh, maybe the reviews were wrong... but when I went to pay, that's when everything went down hill. I paid with my card and as I was signing and hitting submit, I noticed it was approximately $13.75 for a $7.70 bill! I told her and her first response was to BLAME me for pushing something wrong. I replied no, I just signed and pushed accept. Then she said something about a tip, and I again repeated myself and said no I did not. Well, she looked and noticed that she did make the mistake and rang in 1.99, 2.99 and .99 additional items on my bill. She asked if I wanted credit for more donuts or the cash and I chose the cash. She held the receipt and then gave me back $4.00! Can you believe that? I saw the receipt, it clearly had an error of $6.00 and she was trying to say that all she owed me was $4.00. So I asked to see the receipt and she showed it to me. I added it for her and she got mad, grabbed a calculator and then decided to give me some change and $4.00. When she counted it back to me (cash first), I showed her that she was still short a dollar. By this time she was extremely upset and didn't believe me, mumbled something under her breath and finally and rudely gave me the $6.00 she owed me. I will not be coming back to this place. I've been back several more times. Words cannot express my love for Factory Donuts. Some specific donut reviews: Buttermilk donut glazed - This is the kind of donut you cry over. You cry as you eat it because it's so good, and then you cry again when there's no more. Toasted coconut donut - Crunchy, nutmeggy, coconutty. It's coconut donut perfection. RARE FIND! They don't always have this one. Old fashioned glazed - Perfection in form. Better than Top Pot's, perfectly flavored. Not too sweet. The glaze has a bit of a crunch, the inside is smooth and cake-like. Apple fritter - The best fritter I've ever had. Not too apple, not too fritter. Crunchy outside, melt in your mouth inside. Raised donut glazed - Huge, cake-like. The glaze is perfect, nothing like the cheap and poorly flavored grocery store donut glaze. Buttermilk donut with chocolate frosting - A little dry on the not-frosted parts. Not my favorite. Donut holes - they're all great, get a dozen and scarf them. It satisfies a primal urge. read more

This place is great. Sure the person putting the boxes together may rush you as she has more donuts to put out, so just be ready, or tell her you need a second and wait a minute or two. Factory Donuts has some of the best donuts around. The apple fritters are huge and by far the tastiest I have ever had. Especially early morning when they are still hot. The chocolate creme filled are great, about 10 times better than dunkin or krispy's almost as good as top spot which wins the award for the best chocolate icing. The selection is great, from maple bars, to the twist, to chocolate buttermilks to the old fashioned. What a place, quick easy in and out. Pick up a couple dozen and be the office hero for the day. Best apple fritters around!! The apple fritters in my hometown bakery (shout out to Famous Bakery Williams Lake BC) were the best. They were hard and crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The glaze was perfect, like glass. Sadly they closed down in the early 90's. I had been looking for an apple fritter like that but never quite found what I was looking for. Until my son had a hockey game next door at the Sno-King's Arena in Kirkland WA. I went in for a coffee and when I saw the apple fritters I knew I had to try them. Wow! Too bad I live in BC. My children play ice hockey next door do it is natural for them to get super excited when they see a donut shop. My first view was this asian lady talking down on this boy who was with his father. I didn't think much of it until it was my turn to get something. Since it was our first time, my son and I were still looking around. Impatient lady had this frown and went to the back to do something quickly. She immediately went back and asked what do we want and not in a nice way.While getting our orders, these two kids came in and started playing with their money. Impatient lady scolded one of them and said "Money is dirty. Don't put it in your mouth." It really felt like I was in the set watching a chinese movie where the matriarch is just all mean. The big pro about this place is that the donuts are not bad and you can't beat the price. Cons: Obviously the owner. Do not order espresso here as they just have this generic dispenser that makes the brew for you. There's no barista so you're better off ordering drip coffee. One more thing is she asked if I wanted my ham and cheese croissant warm. I didn't realize that she was going to nuke it in the microwave. You toast a croissant to keep its integrity. So this beautiful flaky layered piece of deliciousness became this floppy bread. Can't do much about it. read more

It was extremely difficult to understand the employee at the counter due to her thick accent, but I eventually managed to order an Iced Latte and two donuts. I was asked if I would like vanilla flavoring added to the Iced Latte, and I said sure. I was charged significantly higher than the listed menu price, with no explanation or receipt offered. After going to the nearby Subway, I went back to the outside of Factory Donuts to look at the menu to see if I could figure out where the extra charge came from. After a minute or so, the employee who I had ordered from and a second employee who had appeared gestured for me to go inside. Without my having said anything. they already knew that I was wondering about the charge, so this might be a common occurrence at this place. After talking to them, I understood that an extra $1.50 charge came from a tricky menu format where the flavor price ($.50) was meant to be a subsection of a line above it saying espresso ($1.50), and customers adding any flavor pay the $1.50 espresso charge in addition to the listed price for the individual flavor(s). (even for non-espresso drinks like the Iced Latte, apparently) The second employee seemed genuinely apologetic when I stated that this was a pretty dirty trick and refunded me the difference, despite the first employee's protests. The first employee also yelled something at me (or maybe at the other employee) as I left the donut shop with a bad taste in my mouth. You probably won't run into the issues I had with this place if you don't order coffee, or at least don't add flavor to the coffee without being aware of the extra $1.50 charge in addition to the flavor charge. $1.50 isn't a lot of money to be tricked out of, but I won't be going back to this place out of principle. Which is kind of a shame, because the donuts are really good. read more

I totally disagree with negative responses regarding rudeness or not giving boxes. Been here 6 or 7 times always friendly and nice, always give boxes, etc. These are the best donuts in all of the Seattle area. They have such a wide variety all the time from cake donuts, to big fluffy, fritters, donut holes, and more ( probably 75+ ) options. They are quick and fresh. Not to mention these are way under priced. They should charge way more. I actually feel guilty and always tip an extra 30% or $4. If you are a fan on dunkin donuts, this is your spot. Very similar. But they have the top pot like donuts and more. I rave about this place, if you read this and like donuts, please go get one...just save the white circle sprinkle ones for me. My husband and I really like this place. They still have a decent spread when we get there around 10:30am on a Sunday morning. I always have a ham and cheese croissant warmed up, which the owner remembers now. When they have them, I'll also get chocolate donut holes (yummy!). And my husband varies between an apple fritter, bear claw, or custard filled, and always gets a glazed old-fashioned. ((I realize I wrote about how overpriced Countryside was, but then I realized that I don't know the prices here even though we do get a number of donuts here... I never looked at the board, and my husband always just hands her his card. I will edit any review if needed once I visit here again.)) The owner, Jenny, is actually very nice to us. It's rarely too busy when we get there, so she usually has time to make some small talk with us. I can see how some people might take her as being rude, and really, sometimes she can be. But that's just a culture thing, in my opinion. We've been in there when she was on the phone, and stayed on the phone while helping us, but we weren't bothered by it. I definitely wasn't, because I was pretty sure she was on the phone with someone from Cambodia, and if a call goes through, even if it might be at an awkward time, you want to stay on for as long as you can and get the most out of that calling card and phone connection. Don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but just thought I'd throw it out there in case it does happen. For any verbal rudeness, it's easy for me to write off as a language barrier. Sometimes intonation just doesn't come out as intended when it's not your first language. I'm not trying to make excuses for her -- I just don't want people thinking she's the meanest lady in the world if it's something that can't really be helped. Or maybe I'm just able to be more sympathetic and forgiving if she might have had a bad morning. Anyway, we like her. We like this shop. We like the donuts and croissants. I ate 5 donuts and each kind was perfect- light, airy raised rings; soft, pillowy cake donuts; buttery, dense old-fashioned's. BUT what happened next left me astonished: My wallet fell out of my purse in the parking lot and a customer returned it to the store. Seriously? The donuts were nothing special. They were better than Safeway for sure, but I think Countryside Donuts in Kirkland taste better. I must admit that most comments refer to Fritters, but I simply had a chocolate and maple bar. The most disappointing part was that she purposely got my order wrong. I say purposely because the exact same thing happened to another person her on yelp. I didn't discover it until I got home. I first asked for 4 chocolate bars to start off. She repeated 4 chocolate bars and I waited until she loaded them into the box to order more. When were done ordering, she said we had two more to go. We've gone here for years, ever since moving into the neighborhood and they have delicious donuts. The ladies behind the counter can be curt when they're busy, but they're actually really nice and sweet and remember my kids every time. Their buttermilk donuts are the best I've ever had, and their fritters are definitely in the top 3. They also have flavors not normally found at most shops, like banana, blueberry & blackberry. They also make a huge Homer Simpson sized classic glazed that is always a hit with kids. Their most popular flavors can go quickly, so if you don't get around to getting there before noon then you might not get exactly what you want. read more

The old fashions, french donuts, custard filled, a blueberry dansih are the types that I have had. And there bran muffins are actually pretty good! Tried this place a few weeks ago, but went to Frost shortly afterwords, which may have colored my perception a bit. Overall the doughnuts were pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. I did like that they had a variety of fritters (beyond just the normal apple variety), but they were a bit dry. I went later in the day, which might have made a difference. This is one of those rare doughnut shops that I was happy to eat food from; in fact, I would say that it is tied with Westernco Donut for best doughnuts in the region. With cheap prices, only a couple of disappointments, and no doughnuts that were actively bad, this is about as good as it gets. Service-wise, the shop is efficient and cheap, though not very friendly. Of course, this is not a sit-down establishment so the quality of service is not a huge deal (unless it is terrible). To get the disappointments out of the way: - The raised dough (slightly bitter, but totally acceptable flavor-wise) ranges from a bit dry to irritatingly dry, though it was never tear-inducingly dry in the way that Ky's Donuts' dough is - The crullers are simultaneously a slightly dry, not really crisp, not really rich, and not really sweet - a bit like eating paper Okay, that sounds a bit bad for a 5-star shop, but here is what is good: - The blueberry icing is flavorful - The Boston cream doughnuts have excellent cream - the best in town (if only they put more of it in the doughnuts) - The old fashioneds have good flavor and are soft and moist with crispy glaze; their form is not perfect and their crust is a bit soft, but they are clearly among the best around - The apple fritters are sweet and rich with soft interiors and crispy exteriors - The buttermilk bars are essentially perfect Most places completely botch the old fashioneds and a lot struggle with bitter fritters and sour cream, but Factory Donuts surmounts all of these hurdles without having any major problems. read more

I am rating this for what it is - a donut shop. Nothing fancy here. Just a wide variety of donuts that are both delicious and not particularly good for you. But if you need the occasional fix of what is considered traditional american donut faire - you will be hard pressed to find a better selection, value, or taste. I don't go often anymore as health is a priority but handles the donut fix once every couple months nicely. Don't go here for the coffee as you can get better elsewhere. I would appreciate it if they offered the fritters with less of a dose of sugar glaze as an option. It can be daunting. read more

I've been coming here for three years. Despite the snappy and rude disposition of the owner woman, the donuts are very good and the price is fair. Today however she must have been in a particularly bad mood. She tried to put my donuts in a box that previously had bagel dogs in it (I watched her take them out). I asked for a box that didn't have meat and cheese items in it for my donuts. She threw a fit and angrily (I mean scary angry) threw the box down, grabbed another and then shouted angrily at me repeatedly for my order. Cross contamination is not acceptable for a food establishment and puts to question their back of the house procedures. Treating your paying customers this way is also not acceptable. Delicious donuts! The store is nothing to look at, but give their donuts a taste and you'll be hooked. I take these into work every once in a while. I get lots of compliments on how good they are (and it's fun to see their face when they find out it's not from one of the more popular pretentious donut places.) The customer service ranges from Soup Nazi to mildly friendly, but it's part of what makes the place endearing. Rude owner. She actually yelled at me to pay even though I was still finalizing my choices. To make matters worse, she kept pointing to the door and saying, "you go out." Seriously, the worst service!! I've been here before and wondered if the rude service is the norm and it is. Today was busier than normal, but that is no reason to rush your customers.
