He showed me his phone she made the appointment with him 3hrs ago. I guess she decided cash is better than Groupon. She has no idea how to run a business. Just finished with my first facial with Martha! My skin looks amazing and is glowing now! I got a deep cleansing facial for my acne prone skin and my skin feels like it's finally breathing and not clogged up like usual. Extremely unprofessional. If I could give 0 stars I would. I made an appointment over a week ago to get a facial that was scheduled to be at 5:00. I walked into my appointment at 4:55 and sat on the couch until 5:15, completely annoyed that I waited 20 minutes waiting for my appointment WITHOUT ANY WARNING from Martha or the staff that she was running behind schedule. I had my car parked at a meter for an hour and a half and had already wasted 20 minutes just sitting there without any idea why I waited for as long as I did. When the girls at the front of the salon went downstairs to let Martha know that I was annoyed that I was waiting 20 minutes, they came back upstairs to tell me to go downstairs because the client before me was getting dressed and finishing up her facial. When I went downstairs to meet Martha and address the timing situation, she told me, "I was finishing up with another client who needed a lot of treatments. Many people have waited over 30 minutes and are never mad like you". I responded to Martha, "So what are you trying to say? That your time is more important than my time and that I should be waiting for you without any warning that you're running behind?"..... After Martha's rude comment and unapologetic demeanor about making me wait, I decided to walk out and not get a facial after all. I've been coming to Martha for facials for about 3 years, on and off. I was about 26 when I first started coming and I had the worst acne of my life- way worse than when I was a teenager. I noticed a definite, long term improvement after coming to her regularly- about every 4-6 weeks. I'm no expert, but I have been to 4-5 other estheticians, mostly in Astoria, all for deep cleansing or acne facials, and the experience has ranged from relaxing to functional to painful. I like Martha's facials because they are both relaxing and functional. She does a lot of extractions, entirely without causing pain or smooshing my face around. I leave feeling rejuvenated, and my pores look smaller/cleaner immediately. My face looks even better a few days later. Martha herself is very pleasant and friendly, but doesn't talk so much that the experience is ruined. She does a bit of massage on the head and neck, and every so often she acquires new tools/supplies so that it's not always the same sensory experience every time you come. The interior of her room is nice, very clean, and smells good- I've actually had facials at places (in Astoria) to which none of those adjectives apply. Her room is clean, comfortable and quiet. This was my first facial, with that being said I had a few questions that she readily answered.
