My wife and I were planning to shop around and visit different churches when we moved to Fairfax in 2014, but after visiting a Catholic Church (my wife is Catholic and I'm an agnostic follower of Jesus from a Mennonite family) and Daniels Run Peace Church, we never went anywhere else. Our young children (age 4 & 8) made friends with kids their ages, and we liked connecting with people our age and of different ages who shared our progressive political perspective. The church has some more conservative members (Chinese & African families) as well, so if you are looking for a fellowship that doesn't mirror the growing political divide in our country, we do take making peace (and growing justice) seriously. The church currently (during the Covid-19 pandemic) meets in person AND on zoom. The church is mostly solar powered, offers free electric car charging, owns three acres of conserved forest with a creek (Daniels Run) going through it, and has a community garden ministry that supports Food For Others. Come visit; we have a potluck on the first Sunday of each month (except during a pandemic).

Thankfully, a friend's son told me about WIC and it has been a blessing. It has a small congregation, about 80 people, but very close, warm and welcoming. The music is good, the preaching/teaching is outstanding, and there's a great mix of age groups, bringing together both life-long Christians and new believers. Getting to the church is easier now that I have a car, but the bus drops you only two blocks away on Wisconsin. Definitely worth checking out if you are new to town or looking for a place to renew you faith.
