I drove from Monument to the Gold Rush Colorado Springs location with silver scrap from jewelry…read moremaking, including sprues, remnants, and cast pieces. Their website says they buy silver, scrap silver, and scrap precious metals. It also says they test items for purity and value them based on weight, purity, and market price. Nothing I saw on the site clearly said that silver scrap must be stamped or hallmarked to be accepted. When I arrived, I was told they would not take the silver because it was not stamped. I understand a business can decline material. I also understand unstamped scrap may require XRF testing or an appointment. But if this location will not accept unstamped silver scrap, that restriction needs to be clearly disclosed before customers drive there. Customers with jewelry-making scrap, sprues, cast remnants, or any unstamped silver should call first and ask very specifically whether that location will test and buy unstamped silver. I wish that had been made clear on the website before I wasted the trip.

I found in online and inquired ahead of time about small compact handgun for defense and protection. They had exactly what I was looking for. The lady behind the counter had lots of good information regarding cases, holsters etc. Their prices include taxes and the required criminal background check, which is all on top of the price at the other stores. They have new and used guns here and the owner is a military veteran and I believe in supporting veterans and local small businesses.

Definitely worth a stop if you are anywhere near it and looking for a good source of military surplus items. About the only "complaint" I have is one common for military surplus shops, they have very desirable items on display that are not for sale! I know it adds to the ambiance of the store, but it kills me when I see something I really want but cannot buy it! :D Luckily, at U.S. Surplus they have such a great selection it makes up for the items that aren't for sale!

However, I had to return my purchase due to an extremely poor experience with the Zales credit card company (Community Bank). While I understand returns can be frustrating, the manager appeared unhappy about the return, which added to an already disappointing situation. During their monthly meetings, I strongly encourage management to share the customer feedback they hear about Community Bank. Experiences like mine directly impact sales. When customers are treated poorly by the credit card company despite paying on time and having no history of default it reflects back on Zales and costs the store business.

I walked in and immediately was drawn to one of the records on their rarities wall, an original Kak. Luckily for me, the owners were ready to make a deal after some haggling, which I'm assuming they only do on their higher priced records. After a few minutes, we came to an amazing agreement and both sides were happy, especially me. Other than the Kak, they had some other amazing rarities on the wall, such as a Led Zeppelin III Promo.
