@Eyecare Specialties Craig Just a heads up for anyone needing eye care in Craig--especially if you're on a budget or using insurance. I had a really disappointing experience with Eyecare Specialties in Craig. Yesterday, they confirmed they accepted my grandson's vision insurance, but when I arrived today for his appointment, they said they didn't. That was frustrating enough, but things got worse. While waiting for his exam to finish, the same man who had checked me in came over and asked if I'd "been helped." I told him yes, and then he asked, "So you're waiting on someone?" I was--obviously. It felt a little odd and dismissive. After the exam, I went to pay and noticed the pupillary distance (PD) was missing from the prescription. I asked for it since it's needed to order glasses online, and they refused to provide it. They told me their policy is to only include PD if you buy glasses from them. I reminded them I was paying for the exam and prescription, but they stuck to their policy. To be clear, doctors don't get to control where I fill a prescription--just like a pharmacy can't make you buy meds from them directly. The estimate for glasses there was nearly $400, while I can get them online (with the same prescription!) for under $100. It's my money and my choice. My advice? Go to Mountain Eyeworks instead. They gave me a full prescription without hesitation, were kind and professional, and never questioned why I was sitting in the waiting room. Even knowing I wasn't buying glasses from them, they treated me with respect. I only went to Eyecare Specialties because I thought they took my grandson's insurance--but I won't make that mistake again. My experience at Eyecare Specialties has been excellent. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the technology is up to date. I especially like the way of taking the eye pressure and also getting a photo of the backside of the eye to monitor changes. Doctor Vides took plenty of time with me to answer all questions and felt like she was there for me. I cannot thank them enough. read more

They really exceeded my expectations! They don't rush you, friendly, up to date with technology, knowledgeable, accommodating and this might sound strange but I had fun; I was deathly sick and the office team had me laughing (Note: it was professional and work related) the laughter actually made me feel better. I'm new to the area and Eyecare Specialties was recommended to my by a co-worker! I'm so glad she did! I was late for my appointment (due to construction), but they were very understanding about it. The staff was friendly and I immediately felt comfortable. Throughout both examinations everything was explained to me in detail, my questions answered and at no point did I feel like they were rushing me through to get to the next person! I was especially pleased with the options of having some extra testing done as that was something I had not been offered in the past! Very professional, very friendly, very accommodating!
