Piret Aava is simply the best in the business. Her website is a trove of information and her instagram page is full of her results. Before pulling the trigger of making an appointment for Microblading (also known as Eyebrow Embroidery or 3D Eyebrows), I was endlessly scrolling through it. I was really impressed by her before and after pictures for 3 important reasons: 1) The dimensions of the eyebrows she makes is natural and appropriate for every face shape. She works with the face that you've got and takes an approach of refining your features. The opposite of that would be to put the wrong type of eyebrows because of trends or lack of skill, and pretending that it fits on your face. There's definitely no short and straight Crayon Shin-Chan look that is popular amongst Korean wannabes. Seriously, very few people call pull this off and not look laughable. Don't do it. 2) Piret's color matching is unparalleled. There's just nothing like it elsewhere period. This skill is often what is missing from inferior eyebrow embroidery places. She completely understands color and takes into consideration your skin tone, hair tone and eyebrow tone when making the right choice for you. 3) The lines she makes show perfect dexterity. As you probably know by now, Microblading is not done by machine, it needs a steady hand. The lines she makes are truly fine, even and looks like strands of hair. They are spaced very well. I've never seen anything else like it. I had my first micro blading experience 7 years ago. It did not go very well. The shape did not suit me and the color was too brown. Most studios don't have the right resources to do this correctly. It was obviously not mine, it looked like I drew on my eyebrows with the wrong color because my natural eyebrows has a grayish tint to it. It had since faded, except for some stubborn blurred copper color in the ends. I feel like most people are just doing a job and don't really understand or appreciate nuance. I knew if I was going to go through this again, it had to be really good. I made the reservation in March for a date in June. I had to check the online booking system a few times to get this date because the next appointment was for next year. She emailed a month before with an intake form (efficient) and important before-your-appointment information. Please pay your full attention to this! I switched from using a Retinol to Benzoyl Peroxide for my acne in preparation. Piret was the sweetest! She has the cutest studio that always smells great. We talked a little about what I was expecting. The process was mostly painless since she used a numbing cream, it only wore off towards the end. A stress ball helped me keep still. I remember it being over quite quickly. There was no wavering in her movements. My eyebrows became darker for the next week and a half, but not overly so. A cap helped avoid any unwanted attention and keeps the sun rays away. There was very little scabbing which came as a surprise. I think it's because she makes the marks just deep enough for the color to take. 3 months later I came in for my touchup to fix a couple of tiny gaps where the color came off. This is normal. I was late so there was no time for the numbing cream. I would definitely suggest going to your appointment early. Anddd that's how I got perfect eyebrows!! No one has been able to tell that they are not mine. It's been 7 months since my first appointment and my eyebrows still look fantastic. Piret's aesthetic and skills make her a true artist. I'm telling you, if you're even looking this up, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY. You can check out her instagram and website for before and after photos but I can tell you that she knows her stuff. I have an incredibly low pain tolerance so follow my few suggestions are you'll be FINE. I PROMISE. :) 1. Come 30-45 min early and have her put the numbing cream on your brows so they're super numbed up before you start 2. She gives you two stress balls to hold during it, USE THEM 3. Bring earphones and listen to music at a medium volume. I read online that you might hear a scratching noise with each cut and I didn't want to hear that so the headphones were perfect while still letting me hear her when we needed to talk. 4. Breath out during each cut- she suggested this while we were in the middle of it and along with squeezing the stress balls, I thought it helped. Fyi, by the first 10 minutes, you barely feel it, especially with all these strategies. Have fun! read more

I have looked into getting my eyebrows microbladed for quite some time before going to Piret. I had over plucked my eyebrows when I was a teenager and they never grew back. Unfortunately I have VERY oily skin so I require additional touch ups then some but I understand there's nothing the artist can do to keep the pigment in and will to continue to go because it keeps me from doing an extra step every morning. I am shocked to say the least.... I had an appointment booked for her Miami location, paid $336 upfront, which mind you - is already double (even triple) the price of other places for a brow lamination. Shocking price aside, I realized my appointment started 20 minutes prior and IMMEDIATELY called, texted and emailed to see if I could still come in. She only responded via text AFTER the time of my appointment passed - if you are waiting for a client, why not answer the phone? I tried every means of communication as soon as I realized, explaining my mistake. It's not like I was a total no-show, I literally tried to still come in albeit a bit late (still during my appointment time). Piret at first was understanding and made it sound like the appointment could be transferred to another day... until she wasn't, said I would have to pay an additional $336! I made a mistake on time (it happens) and tried to fix it immediately. She was then incredibly rude via text. There was ZERO understanding, although I was trying my hardest to still make the appointment. I mean, offer me 50% of my money back at that point, or allow me to make another booking... but to keep all of it, be rude, and charge as much as she does? I cannot fathom a business owner that has this type of behavior. But then again, some people really shouldn't be in business. (And she most likely will try and justify her behavior with a response as to her cancellation policy... which would just prove the poor behavior further - zero compassion and zero understanding for clients.) read more

I have a very strange hair growth pattern at the beginning on one Eyebrow that did not exist in the other so, it was difficult to replicate on the other brow but with her patience and attention to detail piret was able to symetrically mirror the part of my brow that was missing on the other side. Such beautiful artistry, Piret makes it look so easy. I have sparse Asian brows and have always had to work hard to pencil them in and got tired of them smearing or fading in the summer. Thanks to my Eyebrow Doctor I now have perfectly crisp brows, so natural and realistic that I can't believe I did not do this sooner. Especially since I do not wear a lot of makeup but brows have always been my thing...a strong clean brow and bold lip. That's it. Her office is small but clean and the music was very soothing. I was very nervous about the pain but I would say it is more uncomfortable than painful. At the worst, it feels like a sharp paper cut or the nick of an xacto (creative folk, you know what im talking about!) ...at the least painful it feels like a gentle scratching against the skin. Really mild and I was pleasantly surprised!! I trusted Piret and she worked to give me the most natural shape to follow my existing hair growth. She also picked a color to match close to my natural hair, which currently is still really fresh so I will wait and see how the color settles after it heals. This was the worst decision I made. First off, her price is more than double anyone in the area. My color choice was completely wrong. She matched my eyebrow hair but did not consider my skin tone. The lines look fake. They do not blend with my natural hairstrokes. Did not want touch up, which is included in original price of 1500.00 and asked for partial refund and the answer was no! I explained to Piret via email that I had my eyebrows tattooed twice. Once the procedure was perfect. My tattoo lasted ten years before fading. Then I had it done again by another artist and the ink came off with the scabs. I asked Piret what her policy is if the tattoo comes off with the scab and she she wrote me a one line, "I'm sorry in that case I can't take you as a client." Really? I know you're busy but one line? Someone with decent customer service skills would have added couple more lines as to why she came to that conclusion and provide some guidance with options. read more
