There is at least 1 staff present inside the building, but they are mostly there to answer any of your questions. If you come here, please know that photography is fine to be taken here. Not sure about private events / photo shoots. If you come here, it takes about an hour to see everything unless you move faster around the exhibits.

While the subjects were different people, the artwork had such a similar style that it all began to blend together. I don't even think I took any pictures. I found myself rushing through many of the galleries, and at one point I was so bored I started hiding from my daughter while she explored. Don't get me wrong--the artistry is incredible. The painting techniques, attention to detail, and craftsmanship are truly impressive. My only criticism is that the sheer number of similar portraits made the experience feel monotonous. By the time I reached exhibits featuring other cultures and artistic styles, I was already experiencing museum fatigue, which made it harder to fully appreciate those collections. The museum has three floors, and I found it easiest to start at the top and work your way down. *Laurie Anderson Four Talks: one of my favorite exhibits. The installation was fully immersive, covering the entire room. The writing and drawings across all four walls really brought the concept together. *Adam Pendleton Love Queen: a visually striking exhibit that transitions into a black and white video. While the artwork itself did not resonate with me as much, the video left both me and other visitors in a quiet, reflective state. *Revolutions Art from the Hirshhorn Collection: more traditional in style and subject matter. I did wish there was more context provided for some of the pieces, especially the sculptures, as a few lacked historical explanation. *Basquiat x Banksy: a more modern collection that reflects themes of racial and class divide. The bold colors and strong perspectives made this one of the more engaging sections. *Big Things For Big Rooms: a bit too literal for my taste, as it largely consisted of oversized objects without much added depth. *Mark Bradford Pickett's Charge: an older but well maintained exhibit. The circular layout of the museum complemented the work nicely. The textures and use of color were particularly compelling. The gift shop offered a wide range of items, including pieces inspired by past exhibitions and collaborations. The museum's shiny exterior was built around a much older brick building. There is a coffee shop on the main level and the aroma of coffee filled the museum. The galleries have high-ceilings (except the brick-lined basement) and have a pleasant airy natural-light filled ambience. Contemporary art fills three floors. Almost all the art grabbed my attention and caused me to linger, ponder and enjoy what I was seeing. It's heartening that this is a private museum and the current president is unable to interfere with operations like he has done with the Smithsonian and Nat'l Gallery. I would suggest allotting about an hour and a half to view all the exhibits.

There is much more than traditionally framed art- there are light installations, interactive pieces, and all kinds of different textures and modes of art. I was impressed to see a Chihuly chandelier too! A great mix of small, impactful pieces and large grand ones. So many great photo moments. The staff here were wonderful. Passionate and helpful. The security was also so kind and I chit chatted with them throughout my visit. This is one of those places that makes you feel patriotic without feeling political. I was in awe of all the amazing things I learned here.
