Extraco Mortgage, specifically Staci Harrelson, was the worst and most unethical loan experience I've ever had. We were given a pre-qualification letter and repeatedly told all was good while waiting for closing day. We were told our DTI(which was calculated incorrectly)was too high the DAY before closing. This should have been calculated at the very beginning of the process.We reached out and spoke to management , but they did not seem to take it seriously. This place is a complete joke. They call the cops on us and then the manager apologizes the next day saying it was just "miscommunication" between their departments. All I was doing was making a withdrawal (on behalf of my family member, a grandparent.) and they think I'm trying to rob the place. I had access to their account with proper paperwork and all of the above they asked for yet they made it extremely difficult to withdraw what I needed. I visited 2 of their locations to try and make the withdrawal only because the branch closest to me closed early while the other didn't, so I visited the Killeen branch. The next day I call stating I'd like to try to withdraw again with the "proper paperwork", a family member of mine also stated how upset they were about not being able to do this all in one day instead of them sending us back and forth, and how we had to drag our elderly grandparents to the bank so they can see for themselves were not "stealing" even though we legally had access to their account. They said that they'd call the cops if I wanted to "escalate the situation" specifically the banker Alex. ?????? Escalate how?? By asking to speak to the damn manager??? Call the cops for that?? They stated me going to their other branch spooked them and made them alerted. Lord I'm leaving this bank right away. They held no respect or empathy towards me or my family. They eventually give us our money and once our affairs are in order, I'm switching my grandparents to another bank. I've never had so much trouble dealing with bank accounts and with people who call themselves banking specialists. They may know money but they have absolutely no idea about how to provide friendly, quick and efficient customer service. read more

The Gatesville and Copperas Cove branches are the worst for car loans and general services. Over the course of a few years, they have shunned us on all requests for unjustifiable reasons. The latest is a single torn 20 dollar bill I had that tore in the wind on my farm and I could not find the other half. The teller told me it had to be 75 percent intact, according to "their policy". Nevermind trying to help me with my problem by referring me to the FED, who will replace torn bills on a case by case basis. I finally got a good service provider to usurp the Gatesville branch teller on this ridiculous encounter. Then two years ago, when interest rates were low, I went to the teller at Copperas Cove Extraco, and they refused to deposit an 8000 dollar credit card convenience check with 0 percent interest. They told us it was their "policy" not to accept these kinds of checks anymore. Hold and behold, I did not accept this bogus garbage, so I went to their auto teller machine on the lot and it accepted it. They refused to explain this flaw in their "policy" either. And online banking on the phone application will also accept because I have continued to do that. And then, after financing a car for three years and paying in full, they refused to finance another. Just more of the same garbage we've come to expect from Extraco. I got the new vehicle financed immediately elsewhere. So now they've cancelled our account because of my abrasive attitude with Them in Gatesville for never even trying to apologize to me for the 20 dollar bill fiasco. I have been with ExtraCo for over 15 years. They changed their policies without any notification and started withdrawing money from my savings account without my permission. When I notified them and pointed out their statements did not show any debits although the amount in the account was dropping, they told me that they would get back to me. I had to call them multiple times to get an answer. They refused to return the money. They lost me as a customer and lost my account. I am never going back. So disappointed! read more

I changed to Extraco from PNC in hopes of better service. Opened my account last week. The app didn't show balance/ credits or debits for 2 days. Was having issues adding debit card info to H‑E‑B, Walmart and other vendors. Called Extraco today to find out there's a bank wide glitch! Now ready no change banks again. I been with Extraco Banks since 2001 that makes this 20 years this year. I have applied for personal loans and not once have I ever gotten approved for any of them. The only thing I got when I did apply was a ding on my credit report for an inquiry that stays on for two years. I recently tried to get a loan again much to my better judgement of not wanting to do so but I did for the purpose of wanting to consolidate my debts down into one or two payments a month. Mostly just a few credit cards and a small loan to liquidate and because I been with direct deposit and solid customer for two decades I felt my bank should have accomodated my request for a loan. Well they again Declined and Denied with more or less the same reasons. Well apparently they want nothing less than stellar credit and no blemishes on your report as well as a credit score of 750+ as I openly admit that I am not near these factors. I have from a prior divorce a few charge offs that were just credit cards and one medical smaller bill charged off and they are already close to 5/7 years for reporting. I have reestablished newer credit that I have had as early as four to five years range and they are all exceptional and never been late. Scores are hard to get high with those lingering collections however 645 is still not all that bad and my 40% debt ratio is not all that terrible either. This bank has failed my expectations again and again. Now I applied for $5000 from Extraco on October 29th and got denied and rather quickly. I did apply to another loan company and got approved for $10,000 in four days from start to finish and all online and very little required actions on my part. Funded today into my Extraco account ha ha! The loan company that approved me obviously understood that it isn't the past it is the current and partial past at least the last four years of exceptional payment history and a brief discussion about what happened to have caused some older past collections and proof of decent income and that was more than enough for them to say Welcome and Your Approved! Got a good interest rate and three year terms to pay it off and never more pleased. Told the underwriting of this company on final verification call about ExtraCo and how they did me they laughed and said and I quote what the nice lady told me. Honey, in a few years with customer service like that with them and how they treat loyal and guaranteed direct deposit customer and denial to subprime customers they will be an empty building and a memory. I believe that! I also have a source of income expected to come and ExtraCo will miss out on that as well. Overall this bank sucks and soon eventually they will wish they were more optimistic and deserving of good paying and loyal long term customers. Good to know that there are other banks and loan companies that know a real customer's worth! read more

I really do like Extraco banks. I've been going to this bank for about 10yrs now & I've received a few loans (car & personal) & I've always had a pleasant experience here. The workers/tellers/loan officers are all awesome, always helping & they all seem to like their job. read more

Changed their hours for Saturday banking, no notice, to closing earlier. Showed up at 12 noon and was told they close at 12pm. Saw approximately ten (10) customers turned away from 12:00 to 12:10. Customer service was everything but understanding, when I called to ask about new hours, which changed that day. Possibly time to shop for another bank to handle my small business. read more

No more Extraco bank left them awhile back. The people that work there are friendly. The way they do business is unprofessional. The employees all have headsets in there ears. If you need service they call and talk on these headsets, you may or may not speak to a customer service person or you may get an impersonal answer from the person with the headset. If this was a fast food restaurant it would be great, not for a bank. When BofA and Wells Fargo can give more personal service than a smaller community bank you got problems. Who ever can up with the walkie talkie headsets must have managed a fast food place. Again nice folks working there. read more

Worse service in a thru ever. Three cars waiting before I pulled up only four lanes lite up as open . I am o n number four. Well a fancy expensive car pulls up in a closed lane . Well they wait on the rich white lady in the closed lane before anyone else . When I questioned this they told me there were only two people working. Asked again why was someone in a closed lane even waited on much less before everyone else that had been waiting. Got no response to this question. Called asked for manager three times. Was transferred to a call center. Well told them what happened. Also I would never to business with them again. read more

Extraco has a few of the capabilities of larger national banks, but unfortunately their in-house policies prevent them from taking competitive advantage of their smaller size as an institution. I (incorrectly) thought banking local would mean more simplicity and more willingness to work with me. It seems like every feature of their mobile banking has a wait period on it, which is frustrating. There are all sorts of confusing rules for account fees and buy-downs. All told, opening an account with full functionality takes about 3 MONTHS. But for what it's worth, you can get your debit card same-day. Wish I could rate 2.5. read more

I have had an account here for 31 years, over the last several years it has changed from a customer service caring bank to an institution that doesn't care about its customers. Debit card service is the absolute worse, they will cancel your card without notification and not send a replacement for 7-10 days, lines at drive thru terrible, go inside to see an actual teller and they try to force you to use the automated teller, I have accounts at texell and compass and there is a night and day difference compared to Extraco. read more
