I had been at this storage place for over a year and before this had a great experience. Until the day I needed to move out and I had a second floor unit and the elevator was down. Because it was evening, I tried calling 3 times to see when it would be repaired so I could maybe make other arrangements but no one answered. Since I couldn't determine when it would be fixed, I went ahead and moved my things. As a 53 year old female it was NOT an easy task. To make things worse, when they called me the next morning, no apology. When I asked how long it had been down, she said 4 days. I asked why they didn't notify anyone (so I could have made arrangements to have help). The answer...we don't have a way to do that. Again, no remorse, no apology for the inconvenience. Note: isn't it interesting they can email me for my payments. They can email when a hurricane is coming and what to be prepared for. They can ALSO text me to tell me my unit is vacant. But they can't text to tell the upper units that the elevator is down??? read more

I recently had a billing issue and it was resolved in a timely fashion and professionally by someone at the local branch.

Been a customer for several years and have nothing but good reviews for Margo and the entire staff. Friendly and efficient service. Always neat and clean throughput the property and in the office. There was a flood in a few units due to a hurricane and they quickly cleaned up after that. Due to my work hours, I am there very late at times, and more importantly my wife is sometimes there late and it always feels safe and well lit. read more

Stay away from Extra Space Storage. When they advertise climate control don't believe it. We paid for an inside unit with climate control. When we went into the unit we noticed how humid the area was and discovered all our furniture and rugs covered in mildew. Received zero satisfaction from the company. There are better companies to use for storage. Will never recommend this company. read more

Started out paying $180 1 1/2 years ago after 2 increases now we get notices that we are up to $250 . When I called they had the audacity to tell me " we have no space to rent out supply and demand so prices are going up!!! WOW during a crisis , people losing homes and jobs let's just rape them on top. They have NO trollies available so we have to carry everything, lights are iffy, noone is ever there or they are sleeping. Where oh where is corporate!!! read more

After many years as a Noah's Ark Storage customer and happy with the operations, I must submit a not so positive review. The Extra Storage Space folks are really making the existing customers that have been there very upset. The gate is not working all the time, gutters broken with down spouts stopped up. After they took over my 24 hr gate access was changed. I can no longer use the trash bin that I did have a key for. Then I receive an increase with blocked access to my unit. This is not how to treat loyal customers that have been on the books for 7+ years with the autopay. Time to look elsewhere! read more

More of a corporate issue unfortunately but should be mentioned. Corporate had reservations made and when we show up there are no available units at the location. They claim corporate and the location have no communication or accuracy at times with the units and that several people were turned away before us. read more

Ever since Extra Space took over it has been horrible our storage spaces went up in price! No one is ever there & I just went over there to get something out of my unit & my code doesn't work. And of course it's closed like always!! I miss Noah's Ark their staff lived on site, they were so nice, helpful & would always be there when you needed them. I'm searching for another place to store my things. This is what happens when big corporation push out small businesses you get crap!! Save yourself the aggravation & don't bother going there. I went in on a Friday to reserve a unit. Gave all my information and my renters insurance policy. I was asked when did I want it to start and since I was given an option I chose Saturday - thinking my reservation was locked in. I had to get a lock and my belongings to be stored. Wanted my own lock since theirs was $17. Couldn't get back on Saturday in time before closing so went right after work on Monday (Closed on Sundays). I was nicely greeted by the manager who was assisting me through the process and was then nicely told that the unit was just rented by someone else....then she says, "it was first come first serve"... This should have been clearly stated when she asked me "when did I want it to start?" Also, since I had given all info to start, a curtesy call on Monday morning would have been appropriate and I could have submitted payment over the phone if I had known losing the unit was a possibility. Sooo, it you want a unit...pay on same day even if they ask you for a start date. By the way...I had to go to another company because they did not have any more units the size I needed. read more

ESSS took over this business from Noah's Ark about 6 months ago. It has been nothing but downhill since then. I rarely write negative reviews but this place continues to provide terrible customer service. My unit is on the 2nd floor of a (supposedly) climate-controlled building. The elevator hasn't worked for over a week...how is one supposed to carry heavy and numerous items up and down stairs in the extreme heat/humidity of Central Florida? The temperature is FAR from cool in the building that I'm paying extra for....manager confirmed it was 80 degrees inside climate-controlled building!! I started sweating the minute I walked in. I suspect it's higher than 80. When Noah's Ark had business, it was much cooler. The office door is almost always locked when I stop by even during business hours. Knocking and then pounding on door brings no one. This happens too frequently to just be coincidence. They give no discount for prepaying for 6 months like Noah's Ark did. To make matters worse, they're raising my rates next month. Unbelievable.....and if you're a coupla weeks late in paying rent as my friend was thru no fault of her own, they charged her $85 for a PRE-foreclosure fee!!! STAY AWAY - there are many other facilities in the immediate area. In comparison to customer-friendly Noah's Ark, this place rates a failing grade. The male manager is pleasant but female has an attitude. read more

Horrible customer service! I called extra space storage before my payment was due asking if I could pay them 3 days late and initially, they were happy to help. They told me I had seven days to pay without getting charged the late fee. So three days later I tried to pay using their automated system (the office was closed at this time) and the automated system said I didn't have a balance so I called back on the seventh day (a Monday, during normal business hours) to ensure I wouldn't be charged a late fee. At first I used the automated system and was told that I owed $20 more than my monthly payment, which meant they added the late fee therefore, I called the actual site and spoke to the property manager about my situation. The manager was rude and unyielding. She told me there was nothing she could do because they only grant a 4 day grace period even though another co-worker said I had seven days. So, even after she confirmed that her co-worker had said I had seven days she refused to take off the late fee. I told her that I would no longer be doing business with them and would be coming to get my belongings. She basically said that was great but they had a special lock on it so good luck with that. I said ok well how do I get my things and she said pay your late fee. I said but I don't want to rent the unit from you this month and you pay in advance. She replied with, well you didn't give me a ten day notice so the only way you can access your unit is by paying the monthly fee plus the late fee. I paid because I need to be able to get to my things but I am so angry and am going to corporate with this. This is not the way you treat a customer! read more
