PUSHY UPSELL - INCORRECT DIAGNOSIS - STRANGE FINANCE DEPT Did not have a very good experience with them. called for a fridge repair. the top freezer was leaking water into the fridge, dripping onto the top shelf. i looked online and the most common cause was a blocked freezer drainage line. I didn't feel comfortable attempting this myself so i called. The tech came in and did an inspection. he removed the freezer panel and tested the current with the multi meter a few times, then removed the drip tray from the fridge and looked at it. then tested the circuit again and said unconvincingly that the defroster sensor was blown. i sid it defrosts fine, there was no ice buildup, was he sure it wasnt a blocked line? he was certain and then made a quick high pressure sales push, with his calculator out real fast and said it would cost $450 with parts and labour to replace it. and since it was the week before Christmas to hurry up and decide or it would take longer to arrive I declined. paid the $89 service fee via e-transfer. Much to the tech's annoyance that i didn't have cash. i had to call the number, get the email address and send the transfer. i called a second company, owned by the tech himself. he came in, moved the fridge out, did a thorough test of the drain line, vacuumed the back, examined all the possibilities and determined the plastic drip tray had a small crack in it, hence the leak. he used duct tape. i asked about a replacement and he said it wasn't worth my money unless the crack somehow got bigger. he didn't even charge me his full service fee. Then i get a call from finance at express repair saying I hadn't paid my bill. When i provided a confirmation of the e-transfer she was satisfied. Very strange. I can't say for certain but it seems this company runs an Uber-like system. they have techs on call, not employed, but contracted out, and they may feel pressure to make an upsell. Also strange about the finance department not having a record of the e-transfer, or maybe some funny business? I posted an job on homestar and gave me a prompt quote but then harrassed me every day for an answer for 3 days (email and phone) and then emailed me to say I ordered the job and sending me a technician the following day without less than 24hr hours notice. The person who did the repair was lovely, and did a good job. The person answering the phone, not so much. The word that comes to mind is FRUSTRATING!! I called to ask when the person would come, but could not get a straight answer or even a ballpark time. When I asked about getting my part expedited for delivery, and that I would pay extra, I got the distinct impression that the staff (and there were a few) felt that I was just a cranky old lady and "far too much work." I called and explained to the lady that my Bosc dishwasher was not working gave her the model number with all the details and she said that she would send her expert guide to repair my dishwasher. an older gentleman. I asked about replacement options and he said they don't support the make/model (a contradiction from what I was told when I called them). He then recommended I go to Home Depot or some other appliance centre ! He was in my house less than 10 minutes. 5 minutes after he left I got an invoice via text for $99 plus tax. I tried calling them, 3 times, but each time was put on indefinite hold once they realized I was calling to ask for the charges to be reversed since no work was done. I subsequently started receiving threats that a collection agency would be engaged if I didn't pay them. I filed a review with the Better Business Bureau outlining all of this. They obviously troll that service (there are many similar reviews there, again it's a pattern). I got a phone call from them after a few days, the person was rude, accused me of fabricating what happened, and again demanded payment for absolutely no service rendered. Same story as others. Part ordered in June with 4-6 week delivery, but I phoned the manufacturer to be told unit was discontinued and part would never be supplied. Told Michelle (manager) this and asked for refund. She said part was coming and booked appointment next month (Aug 7) for installation, Express Appliance Repair of course No Showed), however they did bill me on Aug 7 $120 plus for the No Show appointment, and are refusing to make reimbursement for unavailable part that I paid $560.00 for in June, until I authorize payment for the appointment they No Showed. Scam artists - stay away! We engaged them because an igniter on our gas cooktop was not always igniting. The technician arrived and was here a short period of time. He concluded the igniter was fine and that it was just a couple of holes plugged that prevented the gas from properly distributing. That was remedied with a poke of a needle that I provided. Their site says $99 diagnostic fee...and they offer a $25 discount for first time customers. The technician tried to get me to sign for a fee of $275 -- I was given no estimate for additional costs to approveI. I said no way, call your office. I told them I would pay for fee for the visit but I was not paying $275. I was told they would send this to a collection agency. I then asked to speak to the manager. I was told they were out until Monday. I have asked the Manager to call me back. The woman told me they would forward to a collection agency. What a scam!! read more

Part is discontinued, which I found out for myself in 5 minutes, took them two weeks. Two weeks later they want another service call to take the part away to see if the can fix it. So I call another service company and surprise, surprise, they diagnose the problem completely differently and have the part on hand. Its fixed and working in less than an hour. Seems the technician from appliance repair express had the wrong diagnosis. It gets worse of course. I paid half of the estimate up front and they have only refunded half of that. They are insisting that I pay for the original service call even though their technician was incompetent and I went without an oven for a month which I did not need to do so I am still fighting them for the rest of my money. ZERO STAR. Do not trust this company. We called this company to check our washer issue, loud noise. The technician came and diagnosed the issue, he concluded that we need to replace all shocks absorber. We agreed and paid for the parts. After a few day, the technician came back and installed the new shocks absorber. While doing the test run, we oaid the remaining balance and soon after, we heard the exact same loud noise. Technician left without doing anything else coz he's running late for next appointment. We called the company right away and informed them that the issue wasn't fixed. After a few days of keep calling the company, they send the technician back. Technician did a test run again and now saying that we need to replace the bearing. We refused the service coz it will cost us sn extra $700 on top of the $500 we initially paid. Technician removed and took the new shocks absorber that was wrongly diagnosed. The company refused to give us a proper refund. We disputed the charges to both our cc company and after about a month of investigation, both of them ruled in our favour. Right Fix Repairs (aka Express Repair) - Misdiagnosis Cost Us Over $2,300 - Avoid This Company! ***BUYER BEWARE*** We contacted Right Fix Repairs aka Express Repair for an issue with our washing machine, and while the technician (Yusup) arrived promptly, the service left us extremely disappointed. After diagnosing the problem, the repairman told us the main tub in the washer was cracked and needed to be replaced, quoting us $970 for parts and labor. We were given seven days to decide, but ultimately, we opted to buy a brand-new washer-dryer unit instead, since the cost was nearly the same. The next day, we purchased and installed a new stacked washer-dryer for $2,300, only to find that the original issue persisted once again. It turned out the real problem was with the plumbing inside the condominium wall AND not the washing machine at all! The technician's misdiagnosis led us to replace a perfectly good appliance unnecessarily. This was an incredibly costly mistake, and Express Repair's failure to properly assess the issue has left us frustrated and out thousands of dollars. I normally don't post reviews even with poor experiences, but I have to inform people of this company who are misleading and scamming people. They inform that the an inspection only would be $120 plus $25 off. This was for a heating issue for my dryer. They inspected and recommended I replace certain heating elements for $600+ labour cost. I would have just bought a new dryer so of course I declined. Then the technician said he will inspect some more and pressed a reset button at the back of the dryer and fixed the issue and charged me $270. Now when I try to use the dryer now, the tumbling is not working - which was working prior to inspection. I called them countless times and finally when I was able to speak to someone, they want to send the technician again and charge me even more money. I rather not deal with them again and now I have to pay more to fix an issue they caused. I regret not doing my due diligence prior to using Express Appliance Repair. Many red flags - There is no Google review because there is no physical address. Yelp reviews I found here afterwards are true. They do not have company email on their website. Almost 3 weeks ago now, I contacted this company to repair my washing machine. They needed to order a couple of parts but we're to return in a couple of days. They phoned to say the part didn't come in but would let me know once it arrived. After a couple of days I kept phoning to ask how long it would take for this part to arrive as I couldn't do without a washing machine. They just kept giving me the same answer that they will call me when it came in. After 2 weeks I asked to cancel want my deposit back. I put 50 percent down which is $400. I've been phoning almost on a daily and they keep telling a manager will phone but hasn't phoned yet. Sometimes I get an AI person on the phone. Very poor customer service and is a total scam. Nothing express about Express. l waited for the repairman to come to diagnose the issue with our washing machine. Have to pay half the cost then to have the drain hose replaced but serviceman said he could be back by the next day to fix it because the y had the part. I got a phone call late the next day saying it was ordered and the repair would be in 8 days which l said was unacceptable. They then set up an appointment for two days later between 8-10am. No show so l made a few calls and finally someone came at 11:30. There is no value and get excuse after excuse. They also are not cheap so my advise use someone else. read more

I can confirm all of the other terrible reviews (which I wish I had read before going with them). While the technician was a nice guy, he returned 4 times and misdiagnosed the problem over and over again with my leaking dishwasher. I now have a dishwasher with almost $700 in new parts that is continuing to leak. And I can also confirm that the manager is passive aggressive and rude. While she has refunded the labour (very small portion of the cost), they "can't do anything about the parts" or the poor diagnoses that led to me having to spend all of this $$ on these parts. Beware! First they charge to tell you what's wrong with your appliance. He came out right away which was good but didn't do any investigation other than going on his phone to look up the code. I had already done this. So he had to order a part. When he came back and he went into the machine, he found out that a mouse had chewed the wire. He changed the part, kept the old part which may not have had anything wrong with it to begin with. At the end, I was taking too long to make a review. He takes my phone to put in the address but also puts a review in and I don't know how to change it. Then the hounding begins for payment. I didn't pay that night because I wanted to make sure the dishwasher worked. They called the next day, twice at my work and a text. I replied that I would pay them the other half that night which I did. Then they wanted confirmation. My bank hadn't sent it right away. Another day of hounding. What ever happened to 30 days? I had decided to call Express Appliance Repair before I heard back from my condo's property management about who they recommended to call since I wanted it fixed ASAP. I told them about my dishwasher being a Porter & Charles one, and they said that it was fine. They sent a guy out here on the same day and I paid $95 for the service call. He concluded that the control board was fried and I needed a new one. I was instructed to wait for his follow-up call. He called me back two days later to say that the part was not available hence my dishwasher couldn't be repaired. I called Euro-Parts Canada myself and they said that they had the part in stock. They gave me the reference number and the price, and said that the tech should be able to order it no problem. I texted back the tech with all of this information and he read my text, but didn't text me back. I followed up with him again today and he simply said that he/his company are not working with Euro-Parts Canada. So I guess now I'm out $95 lol. I chose this company because they sold themselves as local (out of Barrie) and would get the job done quickly. My washing machine motor stopped working and I needed it replaced asap. Turns out they are an American company with an office in Toronto. Weeks later and I'm still waiting, although I've paid them the deposit of $256. They have cancelled on me twice. Had to take a hard-to-get day off work, and they didn't show. I'm now starting all over again to get another company to come out. Guess I'm spending the weekend at the laudromat. read more

I dealt with Express Appliance Repair over the course of a year. They came to my home multiple times for hours and damaged property (which they refused to fix) and charged us several thousand dollars yet never fixed the problem with our microwave. We tried to work out a solution with them for the damage they created and they simply ignored us, pretending to deal with it yet becoming non responsive. I paid their bill in full in good faith and they did nothing to fix the problem and the damage they caused to other applianced in our home (while they were trying to fix the microwave). The technical Albert dropped our microwave on our main oven and chipped it severely and did not tell us (we found out after he left), he admitted to it in text and we forwarded all that to the company many times, managers and etc. No one did anything. Had no problem taking advantage of a stroke victim. Quoted price for the repair service call was $265.00 plus parts. I was charged $185.00 for common parts that cost about $50 - $60 on line. By my calculations that's a 300% markup. Asked them to fix a leak in my refrigerator at the same time and was charged an additional $310.00 for that. They quoted me, but got my wife to pay the bill, her not realizing the upcharge. In my opinion I just got royally gouged. I did contact their head office and they gave me the old "we'll call you back this afternoon" I suspected I wouldn't get the call based on all the other poor reviews I've read and when I called them again that afternoon, they put me on hold and didn't pick up. DO NO USE THIS COMPANY!!! They don't deserve ANY stars. Had to give them one star to post this review. I arranged to have a brand new dishwasher installed. They sent an incompetent "technician" on 11 August, 2023. Normally it would take about an hour to do. He as here for almost 2 hours trying to connect the intake water hose to the inlet water valve on the dishwasher. The manual states that you only need to turn the wrench a quarter turn to attach the hose. It is a plastic threaded connection. Anything over that and you risk compromising it. He used his wrench at least 20 times to try to connect the hose! He finally said that the connection was defective and he could not do anything with it. He then proceeded to charge me a $114.25 (incl tax) service call! The invoice I received stated the call was to diagnose the appliance and the inlet water valve is need to be replaced. This was a call to install a dishwasher not to diagnose the appliance! I contacted the company to file a complaint and request a refund. I was told the service manager (Michelle) was away on vacation and not back until beginning of Sept. Spoke to Michelle on 11 Sept. 2023. She stated she would have to speak to the technician and get back to me. Finally, spoke to her again on 13 Sept, 2023. She stated the technician denied my allegations. I asked her why a so called technician would spend so much time trying to connect a hose to a so called defective connection. He should have told me immediately before doing anything else! She didn't know. All she could offer was a $50 credit for any future calls. I told her I would never use their services again and where to shove her credit. She said she was sorry I felt that way.
