I applied for a position in a town approximately 8 miles from my home, posted by Express. When Express reached out to me regarding this open position and to set ip a time for me to come in to the office to finalize paperwork on my end, I was under the impression that I would be meeting with one recruiter. When I arrived for my "interview," I then learned i would be "interviewing" with a new recruiter, and I was her first "interviewee" (which is fine, everyone needs to learn somehow, right). When taking a picture of my photo ID (I have a Real ID), they almost made it seem that it was my fault that they weren't able to get a clear picture of the Real ID (their words were something along the lines of "Yeah, Oregon Real ID's are ALWAYS difficult to pbotograph"). The recruiter who was being trained then informed me that I would need to "dress professionally" for every job (I had arrived at the office professionally dressed, clean clothes and neat hair), and I didn't have the heart to tell her that I'd been working in various office environments for the past 35 years, so I knew a thing or 2 about "dressing professionally." I was then asked questions about past work experiences, job duties I had performed, etc, when the older recruiter (the one training the new recruiter), looked at me and bluntly said "You don't seem to be very flexible." I looked at her and simply stated "While I do like some order to my work day, I do recognize the need for flexibility," and proceeded to explain to both recruiters the flexibility needed for my past position. (This was also reflected in comments made by 2 of my references who, without even knowing what the other reference stated when contacted, both indicated that not only was I extremely dependable, but I was very flexible when the need arose). When the younger recruiter contacted 2 of my references, she mumbled her name and where she was calling from so badly that both individuals had to ask her to repeat herself, as they couldn't make out what she was saying. I was then shown how to download the app, sign in to the app to mark eligibility, and eventually the "interview" ended. My "interview" was on 6/6/2025, and I have heard absolutely nothing from that office until today (6/25/2025) until today, when I was sent a text asking to leave a 5-star review (despite the fact that I have gone in repeatedly to mark my eligibility and to peruse open & available positions, to see if anything is listed other than welders or machine operators that I could apply for). I have still not heard anything regarding the original position I had applied for (despite the fact that the job is STILL showing as "open" on their website), even if only to say that I wasn't an "ideal candidate" for the position and that the employer was looking for someone with more experience. I've applied for a couple of open positions that have been posted by the Express Employment office in Tigard (my 1st interview was with the office located in Longview, Washington), and I have an interview on Friday, 6/27/2025 at 10am, so we'll see how that interview process goes. read more
