This review and its context are of my opinion and based on my experience and point of view. I am a…read moreveteran. It took me a year after moving to Texas to locate a community provider that would accept the Veteran Affairs insurance. Hence I began scheduling video call sessions with Dr Rosenbaum. We continued to schedule sessions for approximately four years. During those sessions I hadn't received any tools or been taught any coping skills to assist with my pre diagnosed condition. Our sessions consisted of video calls where we would have one sided conversations where she would listen to me vent for the duration of the call and not provide any constructive feedback or resources to help aid me. My sessions were also cut short because she was often fifteen minutes or so late to answer the call nearly every appointment. And she demonstrated to me that she hadn't retained information we talked about because she'd often forget the things I told her in previous sessions. There didn't seem to be much if any continuity between sessions. Our client and therapist relationship became even more impersonal when she started conducting our verbal communication through an off site receptionist who to my understanding doesn't even reside in the same location as the therapist. Dr Rosenbaum seemed to me to lack empathy and compassion. I felt treated like just a number in her roster of clients. When there was a problem with getting my community care voucher renewed through the VA she cut off service with me cold turkey. And refused any verbal communication with me. I was left to deal with the office a manager as if Rosenbaum was of some elevated status and to important to speak with me directly. I should mention when I'd began working with Dr Rosenbaum she had no receptionist or office manager on staff and I'd dealt with her directly. To me it felt insulting and degrading to be forced to transition to a third party for communication regarding my appointments and care through the VA. She knew I had traumatic events pending in my life and never bothered to follow up or check on me as previous care providers had done for me in the past. To me she demonstrated she was disinterested in my well being. Most recently after I'd gone through the painstaking process of getting a new voucher renewed through the VA she went out of her way to contact the VA and decline to schedule sessions with me as well as make verbal complaints against me as a client as retaliation because I'd posted honest consumer feedback in a review for her practice and she took it personally. In fact this morning rather than contact me directly she tagged me in emails to VA staff discussing me rather than communicating with me, in a passive aggressive fashion. Which for me is degrading and humiliating. All this could have been avoided had she picked up the phone and communicated with me directly as is becoming of a therapist and a care giver. I feel as if Dr Rosenbaum used me for my VA vouchers to line her pockets and then dumped as a client at her convenience. I'd like anyone who has been mistreated or done wrong by this provider to know that you have rights as a patient and a client. I encourage you to submit your concerns and complaints to your insurance as well as the mental health licensing board of Texas, as I intend to do. I do feel Dr Rosenbaum ought to be investigated and held accountable for potentially misappropriating VA vouchers and misguiding veterans for her own financial gain.
