After spending too much time trying to hunt down a work by Michelangelo, serendipity placed Picasso in our path. The Michelangelo wasn't available for viewing but Picasso among many other famous artists and in conjunction with another exhibit of the works of Salvador Dali were available for our viewing pleasure. Certainly, it was a boon. For with the Picassos, yes, that'd be many Picasso works, 120+. There were the works of some of his artist friends. There was Toulouse Lautrec, Renoir, Matisse, Monet, Van Gogh, Chagall, Rodin, Miro, Braque, Ensor and others. It was more than an eyeful to say the least. That many huge names in this museum was astounding. There were artifacts from some of the artists like letters between them as well as rough sketches of ideas. There were many lithographs, prints and some ceramics. There were several sculptures by Auguste Rodin.
The exhibit of Salvador Dali was no less stunning. Dali's brillance, madness and imagination unleashed on canvas, lithograph and sculpture echoed the brillance of the Picasso exhibit. Dalis madcap exuberance manifested itself in surreal imagery. It was a pleasure to behold. These exhibits by the way are permanent exhibits. They're a must see if you're in Bruges. read more
