TMA is a very special and unique school. The infrastructure (planetarium, radio station, space observation stations, science labs,...) is not common in K-9 schools. The hands on experience programs are a treat for our daughter. We are amazed by how the programs and faculty members challenge her and support her learning needs. She loves the school, get excited every morning, and literally has cried on the school last day - as she explained that summer will be boring without her friends and teachers. The academic (and also music/arts) progress in a few months is impressive.

The…read moreteachers are excellent and instill discipline, morals values, traditions and social norms as they guide students for a better academic future. It's good that they have uniforms. Though this could be seen as an expense to the parents, this is one way to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. I guess this logic would work in a public school and not a private one, as only rich parents would be able to afford a private school. The school is in a residential community that causes inconvenience to the neighbors but the school is able to build a good rapport with the neighbors by hiring staff to guide traffic during busy hours. There is a lot of focus on religion in the school. If the school plans to build on diversity, this would be a good time to educate kids on different religions with primary focus on Christianity (catholic).

I did however recently spend a weekend on the campus familiarizing myself with the grounds and availing myself of the facilities. The campus is spread across 300 acres along the Farmington River. Most of the campus buildings are located inside a mile loop surrounded by sprawling fields that include a football field, several baseball and soccer fields and tennis courts. The campus also has an art museum, concert hall, greenhouse and chicken coop. There is a large athletic facility with an 8 lane 25 yard swimming pool. The dorms are clean and well updated. The interiors were all well maintained with clean carpets and freshly painted walls. Every thing looks like it has been recently renovated and doesn't have the worn out institutional feel a lot of dorms I've seen have. I only had a chance to see a small part of the campus but what I saw was very impressive. While at Loomis I went jogging along the mile loop around campus, went sledding near the river, and went swimming in the indoor pool. Overall Loomis Chaffee has a beautiful campus that feels more like a small liberal arts college than a high school and gives you the feeling of being nestled away deep into the heart of New England. The school has an excellent academic reputation and a particularly good history department. There is a lot of support, either from teachers (mostly living on campus) or student tutoring centers. Student body is a mix of all nationalities and every kind of background. Everyone can be his or her self in this community. It is not at all pretentious, rather, the atmosphere is pretty down to earth. If you are lucky enough to be admitted, it's a great place to enjoy high school. There is something for everyone, and even after spending four years there, it's hard to take advantage of everything the school has to offer! There are so many opportunities. The coursework is demanding at any level, so be ready to study. You will not have a lot of free time, as everything is very structured. AP courses are no longer offered here, they only offer regular courses, honors, and CL. Courses on offer go to very high levels.

We were new to the area and researched a few places for our future preschooler. CCNS has been part…read moreof the community for a long time (1969). They offer programs for children ages 3-4. It is play based learning with optional parental involvement. My child just graduated and enjoyed his time at Canton Community Nursery School. The teachers were great. The classroom was nice; it's organized with all types of toys. There were fundraisers throughout the year. I enjoyed getting updates on the SeeSaw app on what the kids were doing in class. My child has learned quite a bit. I highly recommend and would definitely put my child there again.

Playground review:…read more School's out on spring break so I decided to take my kids to the playground. This playground looked new and really nice. The playscape was large with plenty of slides and ladders. There were basketball courts and a soccer field. There was a big ball pit where a bunch of kids were playing in. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because there was a trash pile on the ground. Also, this is not usually open to the public especially during school hours. Parking was plenty further down in the school's parking lot. Overall a decent play area for the kids right across from the library and school.

About 4 playscapes and various other little rides. My kids played there for an hour and really enjoyed it. There was a school garden right near there. A large field and the trail entrance is located on the outskirts of the field. There were outdoor classrooms at the beginning of the trail. There was a basketball court, swings, and bike path. Based on all the amenities, this seems great for a visitor; as for the school itself, I'm not sure since I don't have children enrolled in it. Overall, a great playground right near a great trail!
