I checked my watch and told her I still had 8 minutes, then continued browsing. She immediately followed up in an angry tone with, "Seven minutes!" I fully intended to leave by 4. She eventually walked away, and I continued looking around. A moment later, I heard her loudly say "We've been here all day!" and I noticed her speaking about me with her two coworkers while they all stared in my direction. I approached the counter and asked for her manager's name. She gave it to me, and when I said I would be speaking to the manager about her behavior, she again responded angrily, saying " I'll make sure to let her know." For a shop that claims to be a charity benefiting domestic violence victims, the attitude displayed by its staff does not reflect the mission they promote. I am a long time La Grange resident, and I've both donated and purchased items here over the years, but after this experience, I will no longer be patronizing this establishment.

So, this section of Brookfield has a most interesting history. The land was donated, or sold, by Mrs. Edith Rockefeller McCormick in 1919. The architect chosen to design this building was William Drummond, an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it is very evident inside the building. It originally was for meetings and a primary school. The first classes started on September 21, 1920. It also served as a nondenominational church in the 1920's and 1930's. For over 90 years it has served as a meeting place for groups: concerts; dances; Fourth of July, Christmas, and Halloween celebrations; and family functions. Predating Hollywood, California, in 1987, they, and other representatives from communities sharing the Hollywood name, defeated an effort by the mayor of Hollywood, California to copyright the name for its exclusive use. It is located just west of Riverside-Brookfield High School. The building has a main event room with a lovely fireplace that we totally enjoyed on the wintry night we were there. The original windows are still in place and you can tell you are in a Prairie style building. Available for rental, you bring in your own food and drinks and have the option to rent the kitchen. Tables and chairs are provided. Party on.

My son has flourished in their environment. We have seen such improvement in his day-to-day, behavior, and speech. The staff truly care about the children and are so attentive and thorough. They are the best of the best! HHC has open communication with teachers and staff, constant feedback and reviews on our sons goals and progress, and 1:1 assistance/teaching aides. My son loves being there! We are so thankful for the quality of care they provide. Would not know what to do if we didn't have HHC! They are family.

They offer multiple afterschool programs, tutoring, leadership conferences, groups for kids of all different interests to join, work trips, etc. If you have children in middle school or highschool in the southwest suburbs, check out CEP and find out if there's something of interest for your child. If you're an adult and are interested in volunteering, this is really an outstanding organization to be a part of. CEP has helped many young teens and made on impact on many lives, including my own. I will be a part of CEP for as long as it will have me!

Collected all of our private data, said we were approved for emergency shelter and housing assistance (90day free motel based program where you can live rent free and save money until they actually get you an apartment and pay deposit and first three months.) My family was really in need and actually sleeping on the sidewalk some nights. After months of waiting for the walk to match the talk they closed our case and sent us a letter stating they could no longer help us. The ubered us all over the place to both of their locations asking us to fill out so many applications etc.

I then asked to speak to the supervisor Janne Boblick, to let them know how frustrating it was to get them all the required paperwork for them to just close out my case. She hung up on my mid sentence. I called back and she hung up on me a second time. Way to dehumanize someone in the middle of a life emergency.
