Chocolate cake & everything else. Great soup combi's! I'd do this every day if it weren't for the not-that-cheap-prices.

This place is tucked away in a corner between two of the main cobblestone streets. I brought my family here for brunch during our stay in Antwerp. GF and I were strongly considering their vegan tapas tower but in the interest of saving room for other snax throughout the day, decided against it and instead, ordered their veggie croque monsieur which I was also excited about seeing on the menu. Both of my parents ordered a chicken salad bagel or something in that neighborhood. We probably irritated the fuck out of the wait staff because we needed to ask for more time on more than one occasion. My parents pretty much live under a rock so they asked some strange and confusing questions. The food arrived and was certainly visually pleasing. Unfortunately, it became apparent very quickly that BF and I had both been given regular croques. GF is very anti-confrontation and elected to just pull the ham off of hers which also takes off most of the cheese, leaving her with just bread. I felt inclined to receive and pay for what I actually ordered so I brought the mistake to the attention of the waiter. The waiter proceeded to argue with me about what I ordered. Sir, I am a vegetarian and would never order a regular croque monsieur. Everyone at the table agreed that I distinctly said "VEGGIE" croque monsieur. He ultimately brought me back the correct one as we all speculated that it was probably acquainted with the floor or pubic hairs. I will admit that the sandwich was pretty good as was the accompanying salad. My parents loved their bagel. The food was enjoyable but I would have appreciated a more friendly approach by the waiter to the mistake.

Definitely recommend the avocado toast; it's cliche, but it's divine. The place is intimate with retro vintage vibes. It's a two man show with owner running the restaurant and a chef in the back. I had the chicken and hummus "toast" which is thick-cut, fresh bread lightly toasted and piled high with fresh grilled chicken, hummus, salad, pickled veg (which I swapped for seasonal veg). My husband had the roast beef toast with similar ingredients save for the meat. It was tasty but required deconstructing and eating with knife and fork ... and I kept getting distracted by the quinoa salads topped with goat's cheese that came out and looked yummy (and were most popular). There was also a quinoa base quiche that looked lovely and sold out fast. Service was friendly but took some time (just down to being busy not necessarily inefficiency or lack of trying). Good selection of local beers and Belgium based juices and teas, and wine and cocktails too. Focus on local, healthier options including alternatives to meat and grains, and on the more expensive side as these types of cafes tend to be: our bill was €38 for two sandwiches, a soup of the day, a beer and a juice

It's hidden down a quiet courtyard, right in the middle of the city but completely away from the noise and bustle. Totally one of those "if you know, you know" kind of places. The atmosphere here is just magical -- rustic, romantic, and old-fashioned in the best way. Even though we were seated outside in chilly weather, it still felt cozy and inviting. You could tell this was one of those restaurants that lives and breathes its history. Now, the food -- We ordered the duck breast with red porto jus and gratin dauphinois, and the beef stew. The gratin was so good -- creamy, cheesy, and perfectly comforting. The duck, though, was a bit of a letdown -- quite tough and hard to chew, which was disappointing because the sauce was lovely. The beef stew, on the other hand, came out piping hot (just how I like it!) and was hearty and flavorful, though a tad on the sweet side for my taste. Still, it was delicious overall. Service was great -- friendly, attentive, and never hovering. Everything felt relaxed and unpretentious. Our bill came to just under $100 USD, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality, setting, and experience. If you're wandering around Antwerp and want to escape the crowds while enjoying a cozy, candlelit meal in a spot full of old-world charm, this is the place to go.
