10/10 customer service. 10/10 install. 10/10 value. High recommended!! The owner was more than helpful and I love the work they did.

ROLAND IS THE BOMB! What I like about him is that he educates you first before they start the process on your car. Customer service was on point and wouldn't have had it any other way. I would rate this review 10 STARS if I could. Roland and his staff helped me with my first mid muffler delete. My car is running smoother than ever. Will definitely revisit him for another upgrade real soon. Mahalo to Roland and his staff at the real Exhaust Systems Hawaii in Kalihi. Tell them Sumo sent you!

Roland takes his time to explain everything and loops you in and every step. A+++ service

Can't beat the great service and prices with Roland @ ESH! I've had horrible experiences in the past with other shops in town and decided to take a short, extended drive to Kailua. It turns out that this location (and the one in Waipahu) are part of the same group. The two other locations in town are different entirely. I was in and out in no time and and exhaust install/fabrication went smoothly. If you're on Oahu and looking for a muffler shop, look no further!

I can't thank Roland enough for the way he handled business and trust with me to work on my new 2020 Jeep Wrangler. He walked me step by step in person to understand the concept of everything a muffler has to offer & reasonable price that comes with what I wanted. The guys at the shop Keola & Russell did awesome at taking apart my stocked, welded the new pipes & muffler perfectly & matched the colors to my Flowmaster Super 44. From the trust over the phone, in person & after hearing my new toy. These guys are who everyone needs to see first before checking out anyone else. It took them almost 2 hours of wait time but it gave me & my 3 kids under the age of 10 time to walk around the area, grab lunch at times cafe & check out the neighborhood stores. Thank you Roland, Keola & Russell again for your hard work & business.

Can't beat the price and work they do, Roland will walk you thru to what you need and recommend. And they did a awesome job on my truck, and it came out the way I wanted. Dual exhaust with flowmaster super 10.

I just wanted to say a big MAHALO NUI LOA to Roland and his team for helping me get a completely new exhaust system! Yes it is super late for this review but better late than never. If you need any exhaust work done to your vehicle, hit braddah Roland up! He does not B.S. and sugar coat nothing, he will tell you straight up what it is but he will take your opinion into account as well. Roland is the kine of guy that will joke around witchu alot and makes you feel comfortable in his environment which is something some autoshops lack. Yes all businesses are here to make money but to him QUALITY is better than quantity. I went in to get my exhaust on my 95' Nissan Hardbody re-done because I lowered my truck just a tad bit more and the tail pipes were hitting my axle. I purchased a muffler from O'riellys hoping to cut cost but braddah Roland pointed out that when he does a complete system that everything from mufflers to exhaust tips come with a warranty when installed. The muffler I purchased through O'riellys did not come with that. So I went with his route and added a Flowmaster Super 10 single in/dual out and run the tips to the back before the rear bumper. Welds are super clean, not some of this crappy blobs of welds but nicely uniformed welds. Bends are bends but they bend nicely around the axle and are angled straight. Had to do some modification (cutting) on my bed for the pipes to fit but he ASKED me if I was ok with the mod before he even did it which I was grateful for because some shops will do some mod and not even tell you that they did it. I have this new exhaust for 8 months and she is still running strong and loud! Should've went straight pipe instead hahaha All in all, Roland and his team are TOP NOTCH! If you need any type of exhaust work, take the drive down to Kailua, visit Exhaust System Hawaii and you will not be dissappointed. *Just note that there are 4 locations (Kailua, Waipahu, and 2 in Honolulu [S. King St. by Longs Drugs & Mokauea St. By O.C.C.C.]) The 2 in Honolulu are not apart of the Kailua/Waipahu locations.* Kailua & Waipahu locations are owned by one owner and the others in Honolulu are owned by another. Stick with the Kailua or Waipahu locations.

Roland is amazing. Worked me in to replace my muffler on a busy Saturday morning. How lucky we are to have a branch in Kailua.

I also got help when my a/c failed and they were able to keep my a/c going without a lot more expense on my part. But then my 2010 PT Cruiser seemed to have some serious problems about 4 months ago --initially a dead battery which was replaced on 10/17/25 --but then my car died again within a month and was towed back to Tenn's with what I was told was an anti-theft problem with the key setting off the car's alarm system. Then my car sat for 5 WEEKS while nothing was done until around 12/23/25. I kept calling for updates every week and would be told by the front office staff that they were "short-staffed" and just needed "another week". I also talked directly to the mechanic (Blake) who told me that the car was actually running but he hadn't had time to really investigate what was going on but that he would be able to set aside a few hours before Christmas to figure out what was going on with my car. In the end, the only thing the mechanic could do was put in a temporary battery disconnect system to bypass the key setting off the alarm when I tried to open the car door or turn on the ignition. Except it didn't really work. I texted Blake right after I got my car home and he suggested I wait longer than 5-10 minutes to reset the battery; I should try waiting 15 or 20 minutes. I waited an hour. I tried the next day and the next. I got my car to work once or twice in the next 5 days. But not after that. Tenn's was closed for the holidays until 1/6/26. There was never a way to leave a phone message and my texts to the number that I had previously texted went unanswered. Eventually, I decided to sell my much-loved car for parts since it wasn't running. Two different people showed up who looked at the temporary battery disconnect lever and they were each rather surprised at how it had been installed since it was 1) on the positive battery terminal rather than the negative and 2) it was loose and so close to the metal frame of the car. Evidently this was a risky situation for creating a spark and potential fire each time I used the car. The Tenn's mechanic said on my receipt that my car needed parts that weren't available from their vendor or the dealership (SKIM and PCM module) but as it turned out, I sold my car to someone who was a very experienced mechanic who replaced the worn ignition and got the car running again. It didn't need the two modules that were recommended at all. I'm still really upset because I don't think the Tenn's mechanic knew what he was doing at all but he never gave me the option of taking my car elsewhere; instead he put in a potentially very dangerous and completely inefficient "solution"; wasted a lot of my time and money but most important of all, he undermined my confidence in mechanics in general and Tenn's in particular.

Learned from a local that this place had quite a history, and rushed to get my bus back, however the damage had already been done. It's unclear if it was from truly poor communication or just poor workmanship, but the radiator protective cover was removed/cut down without my approval, I only asked that a plan be put together for possibly moving the radiator. This left the radiator vulnerable to rocks, at which point it was damaged and caused the engine to overheat, destroying a brand new Subaru engine resulting in thousands of dollars of damage. Dealing with VW Buses is problematic anywhere as they are un-reliable vehicles, and of course a non-standard bus like my own requires extra care in addressing. I would caution anyone looking to repair their VW Bus to heed the warnings here about the quality of the communication and the results of repairs in other reviews. In general I try to interpret even poor interactions as generously as possible, as my need for great local support and contractors is high, so I was extremely disappointed with this interaction. The benefit though is that many locals who have had this shared experience have pointed me to better options.
