The staff are exceptional!, so welcoming and friendly, willing to resolve any questions. We are here for 5 days while our son finds housing and employment as he has always wanted to live in TX and get away from that IL snow and taxes! There was a slight odor, maybe from the work being done (?) or a past water leak (?) but my allergies to mold did not kick in so... IDK. Great place to stay.

When you need a place to rest your head, your expectations shouldn't be set too high here. The only…read morereason for 3 stars was the staff was friendly enough when we checked in. That is where the courtesy ended unfortunately. Their machines weren't working so she had no idea how to check us in. Luckily our card was on file and she eventually "figured it out" so we could go rest in our room. After our check in fiasco we noticed a strange odor in our room immediately. We couldn't place if it was mold or something rotten but it wasn't great. The comforter looked pretty dirty which didn't give me the best feeling. We were absolutely exhausted so we tried to make the best of it. To top things off, the cleaning staff woke us up and our guests who stayed in the room next to us. They were loud, shouting, and caused me to open the door to ask "If everything was ok or was there some sort of emergency situation?" I was polite as could be but you woke up an entire floor while many of us truly needed our rest. Next was the breakfast. The free breakfast here embodied the true meaning of "you get what you pay for" so expectations were set to a lower setting from the get go. There really wasn't much at all for options and it looked as if it was completely not attended to. At first they had no cups even set out for coffee. Then the coffee ran out after one cup, no jelly for the toast, and no one around to ask if we needed any assistance. Others looked just as upset and confused as we did. We looked for anyone at a desk and no one was to be found. I had to open their cabinets and ended up setting out cups for myself and other guests as well. My overall review is please invest in staff training. Please be sure that guests are attended to, especially your weary travelers. We are tired and hungry so if those two needs aren't met, then is there a point to stay? I hope they fix these issues in the future but thankfully I'd choose another place to rest and eat in the future.

The only downfall was their pillows, to small. Other than that I'd definitely stay there again. Hey what other hotel offers 2 free beers per day your staying there?!

Nope. Will never stay here again! For one, as stated previously by another Yelper, this is a motel…read more So, that's something that everyone needs to note prior to staying. My husband and I knew this before we booked, but we were out of options on places to stay as most were booked by the time we went online to search for a place to stay for his Water Safari Marathon. This place is SUPER sketchy...people hanging out in front of their rooms, constant in and out of vehicles...I'm not sure what was going on and I don't care to know either. The rooms appeared clean upon entering, but the rug was pretty icky (kept our shoes on the entire time), the sheets were clean, but the blanket was pretty old. There was hair in the coffee maker and the towels were so old the labels were completely sheer (see pics) and the color of the white towels had yellowed. All that aside, the night manager was HORRIBLE. My husband and I went out to dinner and we got back our key card wasn't working. So we got it reset. We then left to Wal-mart, to get cups and some necessities that we had forgotten and when we returned, our card (again) was not working. By this time the manager was acting really annoyed with us as if it were our fault. Surprise - if HE was annoyed, imagine us?! The third time (this is all in the same night btw) we had gone over to visit with friends that were also in the canoe race and had just checked in (wish we could've warned them prior to checking in) and again...key card was not working. Mind you, it was POURING down rain. This time, the manager got extremely angry, told my husband that he wanted to try it himself (as if two 40 year old adults would be messing around with a motel manager for fun....) only to get so angry at US and start yelling at my husband! I was across the way at the door of our friend's room and could hear him yelling at my husband and saying that we should keep our door open with the metal security lock if we're going to leave the room! Ummm, what?!? NO. We are not leaving our room open, unlocked or any of the sort if we're leaving or if we're inside! He then told my husband he was going to REMOVE all of our things and move them himself (not in a polite way, he was saying this like a parent scolding his kids) to another room. Seriously? All we wanted was to get inside and sleep! Stay away from this place, and if you decide to ignore my warning and stay anyway, get ready to deal with Patel's attitude.

I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!
