Maline's Super Foods in Sutherland is our hometown grocery store. Even though I work in North…read morePlatte and could stop at Walmart or Sunmart for groceries, I always buy at Maline's. They have a good selection, and the prices are comparable - certainly better than making a trip to North Platte for groceries. It's kind of like Cheers - where everyone knows your name. Maline's is a good community neighbor, sponsoring local clubs and events. Nice fresh produce case, Bob is well known for the meats and there's a deli that's popular for lunch.

I think if they had less employees their prices might be more competitive. There are actually too many. There are at least 2 people working in every aisle and they won't get out of your way so you can get to items. It is really annoying. Couple that with a whole lot of retirees who evidently are so bored they are spending the whole day at the grocery store and you have a recipe for disaster. Lurch at checkout put my produce on top of frozen food and it was wilted by the time I got it home. Oreos were thrown in under a bag of apples and crushed. I have had trouble with this checker before and tried to avoid this person this time but another retiree jumped in front of me in another checkout line I was in. If you are going to have all these employees at least give them lessons in bagging. I wish this grocery store had more competition to keep prices competitive and force the place to brush up on its customer service.
