Fellow Yelpers, this is one of those occasions where I am pleased and privileged to yelp about an establishment. This is one of those moments where I feel like I owe it to the good people behind the establishment to make sure Yelpdom has been made aware of their awesomeness.
'Twas not a love at first sight, my esteem for the Ewerts Hotel-Restaurant. Indeed, due to vacation, there would be no -Restaurant during my visit. Furthermore, at shortly after 21:00 on a Friday evening, we could not find a single staff member, and I needed to have my suit and shirt pressed for a wedding the next day! No worries - they recommended other places to dine, and ringing the doorbell eventually drew a staff member to the front desk. And that is when the magic began...
First, they don't usually press suits, not having the appropriate machinery. Considering the wedding however, they made an exception and did their best with an iron for me. The total cost for both suit and shirt was a mere €7. A small price to pay for lookin' sharp. ;)
I was woken Saturday morning from my pleasant slumber in the simple, clean (though the carpeting is probably soon due for a shampooing), and nice accommodations by the sound of road traffic. What the hell kind of road traffic does a tiny town like Netphen get at 09:00 on a Saturday morning??!! It's not the hotel's fault, but if you tend to wake to outside noises in the morning, you might ask for a room a little further removed from the road. I guess it could be useful for those who do not want to sleep in. Important is that there were no such disturbances during the nighttime/sleeping hours.
Breakfast is a lovely spread of everything your heart desires! Eggs, cereals, meats, jams, yoghurts, coffee drinks made to order, teas, and more! The breakfast room is full of light and even should you be woken by a caravan of Saturday morning drivers, the breakfast and newspaper in that room will right your mood for the whole day. :)
Now, as would any gourmand, I've saved the best for last. The loveliest part of this establishment is the people, who are simply the most compassionate and good-hearted hoteliers I've ever come across in Germany!
We returned from the Saturday wedding at about 05:00 on SUNDAY morning. Normal check-out time is at 10:00. At 09:30, I was wandering about the front desk, and they asked how many hours drive we had ahead of us. Upon finding out that we had a 6-hour drive to Munich, they immediately told me that we should sleep in, take our time, and breakfast would be waiting for us whenever we got up! Of course I jumped on this chance to get a couple hours more sleep. When they called the room at 11:30 to ask if we'd still like breakfast, I thought we'd overstayed our welcome and they were politely requesting we check out. Instead, when we came down - a full 1.5 hours after breakfast normally ends, mind you - they asked if they could cook us some fresh eggs and make us some fresh coffee, leaving me the impression they genuinely wanted to make sure we were well-fed and rested for our drive home!
Inside the simple walls of the Ewerts Hotel(-Restaurant) are simply the loveliest people, who will make sure your stay is comfortable and rejuvenating. If home is where the heart is, these people have plenty of home to share. I recommend. read more
