They do not speak a lick of English. Luckily, there was a German woman dining there that overheard our struggle and decided to translate for us. However, even after her hard work of translating, we still did not know what to get so we went with her recommendation. She recommended the ravioli with potato side, which is a Swabian staple. This was the first time I had this dish so I did not know what to expect. Man, it tasted gross but I tried to eat it to stay open-paletted and be a true worldly eater. Finally, I had to give up because I started to feel nauseous. The meat was supposed to be beef, my favorite kind of meat, but it tasted like....a type of meat I have never tasted before and never want to taste again.
Staying true to my attempt to keep an open-palette, I did try this same ravioli dish again at another restaurant and it was good at the other restaurant. This leads me to believe that there was something deeply wrong with whatever I ate here. I didn't get sick off of the food but what the heck was I eating?
