I love their large variety, so I kept going back to give them the benefit of the doubt. Clearly, my mistake. I purchased 3 large boxwoods at $250 a piece, plus $100 delivery fee. The gentleman I spoke with assured me they were super hearty, can withstand direct sunlight and assured me again... they would not die. Since the previous round of bushes I purchased from them did. I had my landscapers plant them, all new and nutrient packed soil was used as well. They struggled that summer, but somewhat came back last summer. This year, completely dead. I called and spoke with someone, they told me too bad. It's past the time of purchases. I'm out almost $1000 on these 3 bushes, plus the previous bushes that their employees assured me would survive. I've purchased many perennials as well that also did not survive. I've spent a fortune here only to be told, oh well. Do not recommend! Makes me sad, but I will not be back.

As soon as you drive into the ample parking lot, you are greeted with a working waterfall, the first of many located throughout the Garden Center. The front area of the Garden Center is filled with flowering and evergreen shrubs and smaller sized flowering trees. To the left of this area across the driveway are some of the most beautiful Japanese Red Maples and White Birch you will find in the area. They are all landscape size plants but small enough to take home with you, although delivery is available. You can also find an ample selection of white pine, blue spruce, fir, and Emerald Green Arborvitaes, perfect for screening out that neighbor or providing privacy on your deck. Across from the tree and shrub area is the entrance to the store chock full of your lawn, shrub and tree needs, be they seed, fertilizer or insect, weed and disease control as well as gardening tools. What's really nice inside are the bird feeders and houses, whimsical animal watering cans, wind chimes, sculptures and so much more including outdoor furniture. Walk to the back of the store and enter a courtyard with another waterfall and pond with Koi. The courtyard has birdbaths and fountains and is full of seasonal flowers with brick walkways leading to spacious greenhouses to the left and right filled with hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, houseplants and pottery. Outside the right facing greenhouse is an ample selection of sun and shade loving perennials including your favorites as well as choices you may have never seen before. The Gardener's Choice also carries Coast of Maine products including Lobster Compost and Earthworm castings. They also carry Scotts, Miracle Gro, and Jonathan Green. Need a shed? The Gardener's Choice is an authorized reseller for Walpole Woodworks with sheds on site to choose from. One recent addition is a full service independent florist which is located inside the Garden Center building. It is a great convenience to be able to order arrangements or take them with you on your visit. While there, be sure to sign up for their esalesletter which features money saving coupons once or twice a month. They also have a new Facebook page with monthly gardening tips which can also be found on their website at www.thegardenerschoice.net. Phil, Jean, Nathan and Melody are very knowledgeable in plant selection, care and perhaps more important with remedies in dealing with plant issues caused by fungus, bug or blight infestations. The Lebanon fertilizer brand they sell is superior to Scotts and is primarily used by professional landscapers. Super rude!! Simply called to talk about a tree project for our home in Hingham. Person answering…read morephone was SUPER rude. Asked no questions and threw out a price as if to pre-qualify us that we couldn't afford his services. Honestly, I've never been treated so rudely. Sad thing is that the jokes on him as we have about $100,000 in landscape work to do and simply were looking for initial tree quotes and would have moved forward from there. Very disappointed in Arbor Specialties. Now finding out that other people in our area have had the same experiences.

I'm sure that their work is ok, but unfortunately it never got that far with me. Jim came out the same day that I called him, and we went over what I needed done. It was a pretty good landscaping project. I called him in May and said that I need the work done for a graduation party in August, which he replied that wouldn't be a problem. Before he left my property, he said that it would not be a problem and that he would get back to me shortly with a price. I waited a month, and finally called him in the middle of June, concerned that my date was getting closer. He chuckled and said that he was busy doing a lot of quotes, and would get back to me that weekend with a price. That weekend came and went, as have the next four months, and you know the rest. No phone call from Jim, the owner. At least have the courtesy to call back, or make contact, and let the customer know that you are too busy or whatever the issue is. I'm only posting this so that other customers in the Marshfield area will be aware with what they are dealing with.
