i ordered by door dash the lamb korma is meh i have had better at Taste of India, the mango lassi was warm still sweet but texture lessens the experience. the mixed veg pakora was awful nothing but a bunch of stringy batter mixed with some kind veg skins mixed in and since it was bottom of the barrel they added a terrible potato fritter an onion fritter and hot chill fritter this is like getting the end of fries that sat in fries warmer all. I've eaten lots of food from eugene restaurants over the two years I've lived here, but nothing has really blown me away. This is probably the best restaurant I've eaten from in Eugene. I'm a vegetarian, so I ordered the Tofu Mutter and it was so flavorful! My husband and I love Evergreen (and even more so in the new location!--bright and clean). I can highly recommend any of the lamb dishes. My husband really likes the chicken makhani. Our one complaint is that the dishes are pretty spicy (My nose always starts running!). I normally like medium spice and my husband prefers mild. I would say most of the dishes we have tried are made medium to high spice. I wish they would offer a choice of spice level, but you can certainly request it....Or ask how inherently spicy a particular dish is before ordering. I have overheard other diners complaining about the spiciness too. One other wish is for a whole grain bread option! And, since I'm on a roll, how about some baked samosas instead of fried? I know that's not traditional but I avoid fried foods so I never order an appetizer (pakoras are also fried). All in all, we love the food at Evergreen though! read more

I am a huge fan of this place. The food here is incredible, with hefty portions and reasonable prices. The first thing I ordered was the veggie samosas which was $5.50 and more than enough food to share with a friend for an appetizer. I then ordered the Tandoori chicken was a whole half of a chicken, meaning there was more than enough food to take home as leftovers. Additionally, the waitress brought out a HUGE thing of naan that was perfectly cooked and paired nicely with our meals. The actual ambience of the place is nice, and the waitress was kind and attentive. The only negative was that the food took a long time to come out. Although I'm sure this is because the food is cooked to order, it was a little too long saying the restaurant was basically empty when we were there. That said, the food was definitely good enough to cover that small shortcoming. Overall, I strongly recommend this place. I hope you give it a try. read more

Super disappointed to say that while the new location is nice, the service has gone waaaaay down hill. I've been going to evergreen for years and went there today, only to have to walk out. There were two servers on, and 8 tables, should not have been an issue. We ordered our food (one app, one salad, and one entree) and waited. We watched countless things get sent back to the kitchen, heard customers complain about waits and decided to ask. After 45 minutes with just waters, we were told our food was going to be a while. We decided to leave. It's totally unfortunate, and I'm sure there was some break down from front to back of the house. But 45 minutes is excessive for such a small order. Probably wont be going back with how the server treated us afterwards as well :-/ read more

Ver-r-ry slow service; despite all the reviews over years noting that they haven't improved -- they were quick to take our orders, but we waited 45 minutes, maybe an hour, for the food. That's when the water came. The saag paneer was good, but that was it -- the lamb koorma was overcooked and way overspiced (I had asked for no chilis), the tandoori mixed grill was overcooked (that's the one that took an hour to get to the table), the chicken curry was overcooked. All that waiting -- to pay $18.95 for lamb koorma that came in a very nice but very small bowl about 5 inches in diameter and maybe 2 inches deep. Very small portions for the price for everything but the tandoori mixed grill. The best part of the meal was the naan -- soft and nicely browned and tasty. The mango lassi was also good but not much of it for $4.95. Then when you're presented with the bill on a touch screen, the tip starts at 18%, which is called only "good" -- the praise rises with the tip, of course. Ambience was good enough, parking easy. The server was very young (too young to serve the beer) and not Indian and didn't know the menu well at all. I don't get the good reviews -- maybe it was an off night, but super slow service, unreasonably slow, tiny portions for a substantial price, and overcooked food are not reasons to try Evergreen ever again. read more

Went out for to dinner to celebrate a birthday, and really love the new location! Closer to where we live, but also the parking is easier and the place feels less crowded. As for the food, as usual they did NOT disappoint! We went all out (took home a good amount of leftovers) and everything was awesome! My wife, Barbara, and I stopped in for lunch today. We had been customers of the previous restaurant here (Jade Palace) for 30 years and we were anxious to see this new Indian Restaurant. We were not disappointed in the least! We have not often dined at restaurants elsewhere which featured dishes from India and were very pleased to find some new flavors and textures in the appetizers and entrees which were recommended to us by our server, Andie. The tab for the two of us was under $20, too, and since we are seniors we really appreciate that. Evergreen was one of the first places people told me to try when I moved to Eugene. It took me two years, partly due to the fact that they closed their Franklin location and reopened on 7th and partly due to me dropping the ball! I finally gave it a try for dinner and I was not disappointed. I ordered the garlic naan and the Veggie Korma. My mom ordered the sizzling tandoori plate with two kinds of lamb, two kinds of chicken, onions and shrimp with some regular naan on the side and a tasty sauce. the naan was delicious as naan should be. The sauce was soooo good I could eat it with the garlic naan every day. The Veggie Korma had a kick to it but wasn't too spicy. The tandoori was good but honestly it was a little dried out. Also, there was only one piece of shrimp. I mean come on, it should have come with four shrimp for the price! Also, the service was very slow for the first half of our dinner (there were four of us) and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. Finally someone else started taking over our table and after that the service was great. I think she might be the daughter of the owner or at least a member of the family. She was really amazing and attentive with a great attitude. We left full and happy and I really want to come back to try their lunch buffet! read more

I want to give less than one star for this place. I ordered chicken biryani and requested them to make it spicy. It turned out to be very less spicy with no salt added to the dish. They still charged me for the biryani without even apologizing for the awful experience. This place may have 4-5 star rating but beware of their customer satisfaction. Such bad experience over lunch buffet yesterday. We reached well before close time. But half of items were already finished. Tandoori chicken was totally cold and seems like less cooked. There were no pakoras and even we asked for them multiple times, didn't show up till we were done with lunch. Had to ask for naan couple times in between. Chicken makahni seemed like full of thin gravy and huge pieces of chicken. Filled tandoori chicken with new batch. It was hot but almost bland with no taste. Biriyani finished so they replaced with something else in same container. Cabbage finished so put potatoes in same container. Thought to get coke with lunch. Got coke which was not even cold and with no fizz/carbonation. Found cylinder ran out so they replaced it. But still didn't work. By this time, we were frustrated so finished whatever we could eat, paid and left. read more

And he snatched the bag of food away from me, as if I was scamming him, even though I told him the name on the order and signed for it.
