They've managed to keep it's exterior intact while updating the interior, and it all just looks awesome. The main hall inside is big enough for medium-sized events. They held the first Octoberfest there last fall. Elections are held here, many public services can be found here. It's a great office in a beautiful location with free parking all around.

My fiancee and I attempted to go apply for our intent to marriage license. Online, all it said that we needed was our IDs and both of our presences at the Town Hall. I should know. I checked at least once a week for the past two months. So much was my surprise when we entered the entirely empty office and are told that it would take two whole weeks for them to process a single email and to make an appointment to complete the state application for a marriage license. Massachusetts already has a three day waiting period so we'd be SOL. The absolutely unhelpful clerks- all three of them- wouldn't look my fiancee and I in the eye as they turned us down. They couldn't help us, even though when we got there, they were gossiping like mean girls in a COMPLETELY EMPTY office. Mind you, every single town around us has the appointment requirement explicitly listed on their website. The whole experience was awful and the clerks were rude. DO NOT GO HERE.

The town is enforcing radio silence on this, even though many local residents disagree with this. I also have had dealings with a local lawyer. He worked with my extremely elderly father to disinherit two of his three children, as well as his only grandchild. This lawyer (Gosselin) has studied abroad, so he certainly knows this would be illegal in many countries. But , with zero communication, Gosselin worked with an extremely elderly man to create a destructive and chaotic estate plan. Somehow, the town lacks a moral compass. Sweet on the surface, and rotten within.

Pros: The space itself is incredible. Hall rental includes use of a gorgeous 1912 town hall…read moreauditorium space w/ a floor and balcony seating, a separate reception area and access to the adjacent outdoor park. There is a great lighting and a good house PA system. Cons: The events coordinator who will be your main point of contact, Patsy, is not very good. Leading up to our event, a funeral, she let the caterer's know that they could show up an hour early to set up, great, except that she was planning on charging us an additional $300 for that hour. She added this charge without checking with anyone in the family. When we show up the day of the event she is not in the building, does not greet or direct anyone. The caterers were waiting in the parking lot. Flower deliveries had come an gone, bouquets and displays just chilling on the sidewalk. And wasn't like it was early, we were there at 1pm. We were told that use of the parking lot is included in the rental price and that it would be empty of us the day of. It wasn't anywhere close to empty The PA system didn't work and she did not know how to fix it and she didn't really seem to care that it was broken. If you're going to use the space, and you should, its a fantastic venue, just be ready to do a lot of things yourself. If we came in from the start knowing that we would've been responsible for setting up/breaking down, that would have been fine, we would've planned for that. But Patsy told us several times that she would be coordinating these things. It was incredibly frustrating to show up on the day of the event and nothing is ready, open or functioning. In spite of this, we ended up having a great event in a truly amazing space. If Arlington had a different person coordinating events for this space, this would very easily be a 5 star review.

It's easy to access, easy to navigate, and every single person we've interacted with has been wonderful. From dropping off our ballots to getting our marriage license and finally our marriage certificate - everything was a breeze. Special shoutout to the ladies helping us get our marriage license. We had lots of questions and they walked us through everything. Even when our officiant filled out the document incorrectly, they just handed us another one and said "you're the 4th one today" hahah.

I was very surprised at the condition of this town hall…read more For a wonderful seaside town, I would have thought that the town hall/ offices would be A-1. I found the hallways and actually the entire structure to be old and unattractive. The building had the ambience of a tired worn out office building from days past. I can say that all of the town hall staff were some of the friendliest and most helpful of any city or town hall I have been to, which made my experience a great one. Parking was easily found around lunch time on a week day which is very nice considering there is a school across the street. I'd also like to mention that the parking small yet efficient is free of charge and limited to 1/2 an hour which because of the professionalism of the staff I was inside approximately 10 minutes, Yes Amazing!!! I am giving a solid 3 Stars to Winthrop Town Hall and would like to break it up as follows: 1 Star for the building, 5 stars for the staff.

So I now know the real goal of Andover Parking control, get as much money for Town hall has you…read morecan. The fine print on the paper receipt is the operator is responsible for the parking enforcement officer seeing the slip. If he does not see it, you pay a $20 fine. Your parking rules get more and more inconvenient and a receipt on my dash, not seen by the officer, and an extremely rude parking clerk, is too much. So Andover you got your $20 and a commitment for me that after 20 yrs of enjoying the downtown businesses I have had enough. So the $600 business for photos and album I was working on buying from Andover Photo (the reason we were parked) is going to an online company. Say good by to my purchases for Christmas, anniversary, birthday, and other gifts from Andover Gift shop, the shop next to Bertucci's, and Les Fleurs (~$1000/yr). Also say good by to our lunches at Bertucci's, and coffee at Starbucks. I know the loss of my business will not hurt these businesses, but then again, how many people will be reading my reviews in all these online review pages. and Facebook. So Andover, you do not follow your stated policy; Parking enforcement is provided in the central business district in order to maintain an acceptable turn-over rate in parking spaces. This allows more shoppers the ability to patronize local merchants. The ability to have frequent turnover in the parking spaces in the shopping and central business district assists in maintaining the vibrant down town area.

I recently moved to Andover. Greatly surprised to find inept practices with your road improvement…read moredivision. The river road re paving is badly done. The edges of the pavement dip down into the driveways of the homes along that road , creating a divet which in the inclement weather collects water and ice and creates a drainage probl em and a hazard. this past weekend a dividing white line was put down too close to the sidewalk ,making the lane to the right too narrow. Your town obviously has questionable services as well as no knowledge. I thought that my move to Andover would be a positive one. So far that isn't so. Having to live here I hope that things will improve greatly.
