Worst experience in Paris was at this store. They spoke French to my fiancé and everything was fine…read moreuntil they realized I didn't speak French and we were American. I was then told we needed to give them 1 euro to look around. I told them we only had card and they kicked us out. Maybe if the owner wasn't so ignorant he would've learned we had $2000 ready to spend on comics. Regardless, it's their loss and looks like other people reviewing don't recommend supporting this store.

He asked me to return in a few days and promised over and over to have something for me. Took half a day from our precious time in Paris to return and he had nothing ...he expected me to send my guy to look through the boxes upstairs since I'm in a wheel chair. On top of this I paid 20 euros for a super boy comic on our first meeting that was I saw in better condition and half that price on eBay. Don't deal with this man ..he talks a good story and doesn't deliver and overcharges.

I did some…read moreonline research for "brocantes" around the Montmatre area, and found about 4 highly rated ones, including Sophie Dupont Antiques. We'd gone to 3 other stores and found some great pieces, however none of them accepted credit cards, and we were short on Euro cash. We walked to Sophie Dupont Antiques toward the end of our search, hoping the store was still open and accepted credit cards. We got lucky! Upon entering the store, we were greeted by a lovely little black cat/chat noir, then by a very sweet lady who spoke as much English as I did French :) No issue communicating whatsoever - she was patient with my French. She let us know that the store was ours to browse. The store had an abundance of the types of QUALITY vintage pieces we were looking for, all at very fair prices. We were on the hunt for a beautiful French carafe or vase, of which there were plenty to choose from. We spent about 45 minutes browsing the many antique pieces and chatting with Sophie in between. It was great practice for my French. If you're a tourist on the search for a unique souvenir to bring home, Sophie Dupont Antiques is your place. It's worth going out of your way for - you're supporting a great business. The lovely lady and her 2 black cats/deux chats noir, Jazz and Alpha, helped make our visit to this store extra memorable. Sophie Dupont Antiques also accepts credit card, which is a huge plus for us since we had spent most of our Euro cash. We came home with a beautiful mini cream pourer and vase that I can't wait to put on display at home. It will bring back very fond memories of beautiful Paris, and spark joy when I look at it. Paris, je t'aime.

I stopped in here nonchalantly one evening while walking towards a friends place, and wound up walking out with my first original artwork purchase: a gorgeous goache study done by a Congolese student of Beaux Art in the 1960s. The provenance definitely adds to the value, but it wasn't the selling point for me. As soon as I spotted it I couldn't take my eyes off of it and pictured it immediately on my walls. At 200E it was a real steal. Definitely head to this wonderful cabinet de curiosites if you're looking to spruce up your decor, the owner has a fascinating story behind each and ever treasure.
