The way she described concepts and understood how students interpret novels makes her one of the best English teachers I've personally ever had. In addition to that, she is incredible as a person. Making jokes, defending kids, and being overall kind is what makes her unforgettable. So in conclusion, if you ever want to write a thesis statement and maybe have some fun, she's the teacher you want to have!

I think it really depends on the teacher on whether you get a good education and learning experience in that class. I have a social teacher this year who is amazing and goes super in depth in topics, it has made me appreciate social studies so much. But my other teachers have been hit or miss. One teacher was extremely ego centered and I don't think we could go five minutes without them bragging about how good they were in that subject. It made it extremely difficult to learn and want to learn that subject. One thing I really appreciate about MAC is the passion teachers have. I used to go to St. Mark Junior High and it was the most awful experience, so going here made everything feel so much better and I felt like I belonged with my peers and teachers being more passionate about school. I do have some concerns about the English department, but I don't think it's affected me as much as my peers since I've always been stronger in English. I would also say that MAC is not nearly as hard as they say it is. I know there is a huge pressure coming to this school and you have to apply, but a lot of kids aren't getting 90s all the time. Half the time most people aren't even fully getting 80s. So don't feel too much pressure. Overall I would recommend this school! Some of the teachers aren't as nice, and if you are coming by yourself it can be challenging to make friends. But if you are open to putting yourself out there and not being solely focused on academics then I think you'll do good at MAC. One thing you need to know: there will be so much unnecessary pressure from your peers. Just focus on yourself and achieve to the best of your abilities! Don't try and work yourself to the bone. 9/10 that only makes the stress, no sleep, and anxiety about tests and schoolwork worse. Most importantly: just because your at MAC doesn't mean you need top marks! Just try your best! ONE THING I WOULD CHANGE PLEASE: As someone who is Scottish, I find it extremely offensive to have a PERSON as a mascot. Why not an animal like normal schools? This just seems off and everyone I know at the school has said something about how creepy and offensive it is.

The majority of them felt like my friends. I remember having heart-to-hearts with a few of them throughout my years there and it was really great. It was nice to have support. I know that they've renovated over the years, so I'm not sure if it's still there - but I hope it is - The Wall of Fame! The Wall of Fame is where all the school athletes who won races, championships, etc, had their pictures hung. I was a 3 time girls' basketball champ so I'm very proud to be on that wall (if it's still there)! I know that the quality of teachers is still very high at D.S. because I have friends that I went there with, who are now teachers there. They know how valuable our ear there so I'm sure they are working hard to give today's students the same great experiences we had. Great school!

Nowadays they focus way too much on safety and take out anything that could be remotely dangerous.. I guess that's a sigh of relief for parents but kids just want to play. Now the park has been completely modified. It's much smaller and they have taken out all the best things, like the giant tires, and replaced them with swings and other boring stuff. The school does have a huge playground though, with a few soccer fields and baseball diamond. It's great for anyone that likes to organize their own games with their friends on the weekends.

Well this review may not be so relevant as it goes back to 1969 to 1972. I was there for just three…read moreyears, grade 4, 5 and 6. In those three years however; was fortunate to have maybe the worlds greatest teachers. All of them were excellent. Of course teaching in those days, was a lot different than teaching today. But, I had teachers who gave so much of themselves and each day was an experience in sharing a personal bonding relationship, that is almost not seen any more. All three of my teachers where outstanding, sober and wonderful people - first; then great teachers second. Glengarry was all about the power of the relationships, and the staff extending their hearts to us! Memories of that school will go with me to the very end. Thank you.

The best part was the playgrounds. They were massive. One big park and one smaller one for the younger kids. They have tons of soccer fields and couple of baseball diamonds and a skating rink which is fairly new and probably among the better ones in the city. It comes equipped with benches and all. OH and a big hill for winter if you want to go sledding during recess. They also had a huge empty field but now condo's have gone up in that field but there is still more than enough empty land to play on. I don't know if they still get off early on Thursday's but if they do.. you're welcome. Is it obvious I went here?

Okay, I'm not blood-related to any of the kids who attend the Cogito Program at Mount Pleasant…read moreElementary. But I used to work at the after-school care here, and saw what the kids are like after a hard day of Cogito. Cogito is a special academic program that uses explicit phonetics and repetition strategy to get the material into the kids' heads. They have regular homework everyday, and often the kids would do their homework in the daycare before their parents picked them up. I don't know about you, but I was never that diligent when I was seven years old. While I'll admit the program works, because these are some of the smartest kids I've ever seen, it does take a toll on them. The poor children are probably mentally exhausted, and want nothing more than to unleash all their pent-up energy from the whole day. Unfortunately right after school hours, when they're with the daycare staff! I think it's important to remember that all kids learn differently, so while Cogito may work wonders for some, it may not be the greatest for other kids, especially the ones who need to learn through hands-on activity. On that note, I will add that it's great for getting kids to read early. There's nothing like a five-year-old teaching you the difference between the "a" and "ai" phonemes!
