It is a fairly small store but before Jane Norman came to Plymouth all we had was a very small section in Debenhams and then the nearest was Bristol. There is a wide assortment of High Fashion different clothes ranging in size from 6 through to 16, the styles are relatively young and most items can be very fitting. They have some changing rooms located in the back of the store so you can try your items on before you purchase. There is usually always a sale going on with the selling off of previous seasons clothes so you can pick up some real bargains. It is not the easiest shop to access especially with a pram or wheelchair as the rails are very close together and at times it can get very busy. The staff are very helpful and will assist you anyway they can.

A member of staff spent ages taking it off the dummy (as it was attached with dozens of pins which kept getting caught in the lacy fabric) - and after all that I didn't buy it because it was too short! Needless to say this was embarrassing and I apologised for wasting her time. However, I thought the girl was very helpful and polite while having to deal with such an irritating customer! (We did buy some clothes for my husband so I didn't feel too bad) Definitely a friendly and pleasant place to shop for clothes.

They also sell homeware in this store and have some really lovely things, quite similar to what you would find in Next etc. but at much more competitive prices. There are plenty of changing rooms here so you never really have to queue for too long and the rooms are clean and spacious. I don't live in Newton Abbot but whenever i am nearby i try to pop in here as i much prefer it to the Matalan in my hometown.

You cannot try clothes on in this shop as they closed the changing room during the pandemic and…read morenever opened it again. This now seems to be because the manager is paranoid about the risk of shoplifting. However they must lose a lot of sales precisely because there is no changing room. They say that you can try at home and return goods if they don't fit but you have to return within a week, which is sometimes difficult if you are working or live out of town. This is not a policy in all St Luke's shops - indeed most, if not all of their other shops let you try things on before you buy. I mentioned this to the manager of the Saltash shop and she became quite verbally aggressive towards me. A very arrogant woman whose attitude must deter a lot of people from ever returning there again, which is a pity because this charity needs and deserves all the support it can get.

It is worth having a good look around whenever your around as stock changes quite quickly and prices are reasonable.
