We ordered multiple dumpsters from Evans. 1. They never asked for my contact info when I purchased. So no receipts or rental agreements were ever sent. 2. They add Fuel Surcharges on top of the dumpster price after the fact and do not disclose this when ordering the dumpster. 3. They completely damaged our asphalt driveway. No customer service rep recommended that we put plywood down and there are no disclaimers anywhere on their invoice. They told me that it was "my fault because this is common knowledge". How would a homeowner know this if they have never rented a dumpster before. Terrible customer service - do not recommend renting dumpsters from them. read more

The people who work there are pleasant and helpful. The product is terrible. The top soil I received was contaminated with plastic and non-biodegradable debris. After using it on an area to add topsoil, the planted grass refused to grow, indicating a form of contamination. Crushed limestone for a gravel driveway had stones and pieces larger than expected. Delivery and personnel are fine. The company seems to have poor products. The prices are good, but you're better off paying more for better product. Plus, Doug Evans has been found guilty of multiple cases of fraud and EPA violations. Why do business with this man? read more

A more appropriate review would be a 2.5, but the last two interactions felt more appropriate for a 2 than a 3. We've used Evans for mulch deliveries and other things and all-in-all been satisfied with the product. Last week, we had a delivery for 3 yards that was very clearly shorted. I said something to the driver and he didn't even stop walking to his truck to have a conversation or answer any questions. From there, I contacted Evans and asked what happened. The guy I spoke with was very nice and told me to e-mail them photos and they could "probably" get it corrected, which I did. In talking to him, he said that you should average about 10 wheelbarrows per delivered yard. The good news (at least for my estimating) is that we have a dumpster on-site that is a 2-yd dumpster. Took some measurements of the dumpster as well as our pile of mulch and they were, basically, identical. Going back to his point, we had ordered 3 yards and I wound up getting 20.5 wheelbarrows. You can do that math. In any event, I e-mailed them and never heard back. The product that showed up was good, but I'm not going to be ordering in the future based on getting 1/3 less than I ordered. read more

There Driver when delivering topsoil knocked down a tree and They refused to do anything about it. We Have (through our Landscaper) spent over $14000.00 in materials from this Shady organization. Look up on Google- Evans Landscaping legal trouble... Before you trust any business dealings with Doug and his Business! I have pictures of the tree that His "Friend" Jay ( Madison Tree Company) stated that there was "nothing wrong with the tree" Apparently "according to Jay" they do favors for each other" When my wife sent him pictures of the tree he told her The tree was dead, couldn't be saved. Then when he came on site he was insulting to my Wife. Tried to sell her on his company removing the tree and selling her a replacement. When my wife told him no thanks, he immediately stated that there really wasn't anything wrong with our tree and that's what he was going to report to Doug. Doug is the owner of Evans Landscaping. Evans Landscaping came out to deliver mulch after I'd paid for the mulch via phone sale. When the driver arrived, I pointed him to our play area and when I came outside to view the progress, he'd destroyed our entire PVC fence. After they promised to pay, via text, they backed out and began to deny responsibility. This is the worst company that I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. The left lane was ending and the truck with the license plate PWE 8750 thought it would be a fantastic idea to merge last minute and almost crash right into me. Causing me to have to hook it right and slam on my breaks. Honestly really great driving skills from this truck. Do better. The location up on the same road that has the pedestrian cross walk is a safety hazard. Their employees walk across it staring at their phones. The speed limit is 45 mph and on multiple locations I have seen them yell at cars (that are stopped) for stopping to close to the walk way, the walk way isn't lit up or flashing when someone crosses. It's a safety hazard and their employees are super rude about it. Not to mention their trucks flying down round bottom should be taught that they do not own the road. I would not want them working on my yard. I'll be going a little further down the road to bzak. read more

Evans installed the boulders for the Murray Path project in Mariemont. First, they had exactly what we needed... and we did not find anything nearly as suitable anywhere else in the quantities needed. Project coordination was superb, as we needed to postpone our installation date a few times. Our Project Supervisor and our crew were EXCELLENT. Evans had been doing our neighborhood mulching for years. We should have got quote but didn't and last year the price seemed to double. This year we decided to get quotes from other companies and found someone for half the cost. They were here over the past two days and they did a wonderful job and much better with the details of weed pulling and clean up than Evans ever did. Make sure you shop around! read more

I've used Evans to purchase materials like a bad habit over 26 years. They are definitely over priced if you shop around for pricing and compare you will see. I decided this year to be smarter and check with Bzaks landscape supply and I was surprised by how much of a difference there was. I needed 90 bails of pine needles and Evans was $1435.36 including delivery and Bezaks was $813.97 with delivery. I find their employees are gloomy to be around when you go into their shop or call them. Bezaks was very friendly and helpful. No more Evans for me! Disappointed, better yet infuriated. Evan's Landscaping severely damaged my property while collecting their dumpster and now refuses to fix their damage. Zach Peterson told us "too bad, so sad". Our contractor used Evan's Landscaping as the dumpster provider for our home project. My husband witnessed Evan's Landscaping recklessly back this huge truck right through caution tape and wood that was holding it. Gunned the truck straight through the removed driveway apron and driveway creating this damage (see photos)! We immediately called our contractor to let him know what we witnessed and sent him photos of the damage. Our contractor reached out to Evan's Landscaping and Zach Peterson tells him to "chalk it". My husband called to speak to Zach Peterson today to explain what has happened and received the same careless reply. Zach says, "sue me". Okay, wow. So shocked how this company (Evan's Landscaping) can cause severe and costly damage to my property and tell me to deal with it? I drove in to the "retail" store on Roundbottom road. It's really not a retail store. I wandered around for a few seconds and asked an employee where the bagged mulch was. He immediately jumped down from the dump truck he was loading and helped me load 12 bags of mulch in my car. Checking out was easy too. I will never get mulch at a big home improvement shop again. Super helpful and quick in and quick out - just ask someone for help or maybe stop in the "office" first. My neighbor happened to be mulching today too, and I saw that they got the Home Depot mulch that I read bad reviews on. I will be curious to see how they hold up over the summer right next to each other. read more

Was able to have Evans deliver on same day which was great. However ordered 4 yards of what was supposed to be topsoil/compost mix which ended up having a ton of clay. They did give us a very small credit but I would have preferred to have better quality soil for my raised beds. read more

When we placed our order with Kirsten it was explained that we wanted a small truck to deliver so that they could dump the limestone gravel from the street as we did not want a truck on our newly paved driveway. She sent the small truck with the 5 yards of heavy stone but for some reason the driver decided to back into our driveway even though there was no need to. He was heading east and could have just dumped from the street at the beginning of the driveway where the other stone was as directed on the work order. He not only backed in but didn't back in the middle he backed off the edge as you can see in the picture and BROKE our new driveway and the street. After many emails and phone calls back and forth with Evans Landscaping starting with Vince who then sent me to Zach they continued to not take responsibility. I finally got on the phone with owner Doug Evans and he very rudely let me know that it was my driveways fault and not his company, he can't control how his drivers drive, he can't "helicopter" deliveries in so these things happen but it wasn't his responsibility to fix it or compensate me to have it fixed. I agree accidents happen, it's life but when someone damages something that they had no right to be on its common courtesy to step up and fix it. Be cautious. read more

I ordered fill dirt. The woman answering the phone said it would have rocks and twigs. That is fine because it is fill. The man that delivered it was really nice and put it right where I requested it. When we started digging into the pile it was filled with garbage, torn up pavement pieces, and boulders. One boulder is the size of a small child. The fill dirt was round mudballs that look like manure but are not. They do not change shape when you run a car over them. I am not sure what this stuff is. I was going to buy the rest of my project materials at Evans (gravel, topsoil, etc) but I cannot take the chance and what I originally ordered has created more work. I called to ask about my delivery, and the woman that answers the phone shouldn't be answering phones. While I was telling her that Evans delivered actual garbage to me she says "Hold on" but doesn't put me on hold and starts having a completely different conversation with someone else. read more

I had ordered 2 cubic yards of topsoil with 10% compost mix. They never sent a receipt as they said they would and when we got the order home, after two separate truckloads​, we discovered the order was all compost. We called the company and we offered to just take a cubic yard of topsoil​ and we would do the mixing, since bringing it back was too much of a hassle​. They said they would call us back about delivering the soi​, but never did. We went back in to talk to them and they just offered us 14 bags of topsoil. They then told us that bringing us topsoil would be to confusing (even though they deliver soil). They admitted that it was them who messed up, but they thought it was "too confusing" to fix. This is not only bad customer service but it is taking from the customer. We paid for something we did not get and they refused to fix their mistake because it was confusing for them... as if this ordeal was not confusing for us, the paying customer. read more

Wanted to fully utilize the holiday weekend for an outdoor project. Called Evans to schedule a delivery of lime stone gravel and a dumpster. Asked for them to deliver it after 3:30 pm, because I get off work at 3 and I wanted to be there, "sure no problem" said the young lady. At 2 pm I received a phone call that they were there in front of my house, wanting to know where to put it. Since I wasn't there, I wasn't able to prepare for the delivery; like place plywood down on the ground. Now I have a 30 ton dumpster sinking in my front yard and I cannot open the door fully. Also, the delivery man was nothing but attitude. When I called the next business day, I was basically told, "sorry about your luck". I asked for them to come back out and reposition...nope. Again, nothing but attitude, but this time from the management. Will not ever use them again. read more

Person working was incredibly rude - even throwing the receipts and credit card at me and said "Here - sign one". Went here this morning on the way to work. Arrived at 7:00am at opening. Needed some gravel, step stones, and mulch. Employees not knowledgeable and too busy to help. Told to drive around the yard myself and look for what I needed. Ended up scratching my car picking up handfuls of stone samples. If you are a retail customer, be prepared to help yourself. If you are looking for stone , don't waste your time . I went there , no one knew what to do . They told me on the phone to go to the main location and pay for the stone , when I got there they told me to go directly to the stone location , I asked where that was and they said down the road and turn right , couldn't provide me with an address . I found the location but couldn't find anyone when I got there , I called back to the main store and they said who sent you there ? Umm you told me where to go . So they said they would send someone down to help , After about 20 minutes someone helped me . Once loaded I had to go to a different location to pay . So three locations and over 1 hour to pick up 20 square feet of stone . Once I delivered the stone to my customer he said that is not what he picked out . I had the stone returned but they did not give my guy a receipt . I sent him back the next day and they said we do not take returns on stone . So now they have my money and my stone and I have nothing . After a few calls of talking to people that again had no clue I finally talked to someone who understood how they do business . But he said they do not take returns , then why did my guy deliver and unload the stone himself . When we returned the stone we were never told no returns and now they want a 20% restocking fee after we restocked it . I have sent many customers over the years to Evans . No more , they are clueless and have no customer service skills . I guess they are just too big for their own britches anymore read more
